    I have been recording a LOT of guitars in GarageBand recently and... I'm super impressed. As I've been working with some realllly great guitarists and helping them find tones they like in GarageBand, I've stumbled across a few pedals on the GarageBand pedalboard that I'm REALLY digging right now. You should definitely know about these.

    Another great video Colin! I believe a cent is just like our money, 1/100th of a semi-tone. Popular studio trick in the 80's to push one side up by 5 - 7 cents, and the other side down by the same amount. As you said, it made a good poor man's stereo effect.

    I find myself using the blue wave sound on guitars, either up in the mix or just pulsing under on lush chords. Nice one Colin.

      Oh nice! I need play with that one more. Thanks, Tim!

    Great stuff, thank you for this - definitely need to make use of that graphic EQ pedal more often

    I use chorus on clean guitars mostly to make them a little more "alive". But just a small amount. Same on distorted sometimes. Great info as usual!

    But could you do a video on how to use saturation in mixes?

      These rock, man! You're crushing it. Keep at it and you're going to do great things. Seriously. Love the false end in Anytime You Want to!

    Normal use of pedals is guitar and sometimes bass but using them on synths can work great as well.

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Absolutely. And even for vocal effects sometimes too

    Hey Colin, I didn't get the exact setting you did for the whammy for NEW GTR LEAD LEFT/RIGHT (at 4:59). Thanks ^^

  • @Afurthyclays

    😎 Nice spin on the chorus! I hadn't thought of bringing the other side up +1 cent. Almost has a rotating speaker kind of sound. 😂 The cool thing about using that Wham pedal as a chorus, is that if you bring the parameter up or down about 5 cents, moving the pedal really slightly can give you anything from really subtle stereo width, to full on seasick mode! 🤣
    I also like what you did with the bass slide! That was nice. I might have to use that one. 😃

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes absolutely! The bass slide trick is super cool. I'd definitely record it that way in an ideal situation, but why not use this trick if I realize after I want it??

    • @Afurthyclays
      @Afurthyclays 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheBandGuide Mixing is indeed an art. That cool trick is just more proof that we have more at our disposal than we realize. So long as the initial recording is tight & in ship shape, the world is your oyster, after that. 😃

    Graphic EQ is very useful. I also like the Total Tremolo, used it on main guitar on a track called Sea Shells on YT (extreme setting). Interesting how synthetic and weird the guitars sounded when in solo but in the mix they sounded great.

    Great tips for guitar Garageband players - and agreed that Grit pedal (Rat style) is full of great tones.🤘

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right? I was shocked. It does the rat thing surprisingly well

      @@TheBandGuide I used to use a Rat pedal. I'm a rhythm guitarist and I loved the crunch with power chords.

    How to activate the pedal board? And showing it in work layout arrangement?

  • @mikeczaikowski6299
    @mikeczaikowski6299 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When doing the static mix I turned off my pedals, amp designer etc.. but after I go through the 6 step mix and turn them on the volume is higher and I have to redo the individual volumes... is that the correct way or did I miss something? By the way I wouldn't know hardly anything if it wasn't for your videos. Thanks Mike

    I had to look it up. There are 100 cent per semitone. I though it was 50😁

    The 3 pedals you mention are the 3 ones I rarely use. The Whammy I still won't cause it sounds odd and a good bass slide or an octave sounds better but the EQ and the Grit sounded amazing here. Many thanks.

    I am bit confused, in garageband you put the pedal board before or after the amp?

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Before 100p! Imagine it in the real world- you would plug your guitar into the pedalboard and the pedalboard into the amp
