"A little riff thing" is probably the greatest understatement ever understated.
The odd timing of the very first guitar riff is what hooked me in. The lyrics hit me in a personal way. (At the time I would often wake up in a cold sweat. But I don't talk about it anymore, so back to my point...) Before the lyrics. Before the drums. Just the way that guitar comes in. Like it's finishing a sentence that you didn't hear start. I was smitten. I wasn't expecting genuine musical chops from a 'youtube' band. How did they make a song THIS repetitive, but SO re-listenable? It shouldn't be possible. No matter how hard Brother Michael kicks during the key change. It violates the laws of thermodynamics. But it's just that good. I was forced to recognize that my model of reality was merely a hallucination. Now I know that magic is real.

My mind has been blown. Knowing nothing about the band as I only found out about them yesterday, from the video's I was convinced they were an American deep south group, my complete surprise to find a softly spoken fellow Brit in the tutorial.
This is like learning sick riffs from the dharma initiative.

@@ChurchoftheCosmicSkull the last guitar I owned was a Marlin Bluefin, a cheapo British flying-V type contraption. That should give you an idea of how long since I last played.

I had some epiphanies listening to this album. On acid and quickly became a member, not necessary to enjoy this amazing album but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have an otherworldly experience because of it. This song struck a particular soul chord, great work from the church. Follow the path.
I don't play guitar and I hardly ever hit the like button, but ... well... here I am watching a guitar tutorial and giving a like.... you're just THAT damn good Bill & Co.

I'm glad you addressed the instrumental section. I've seen enough stupid comments from nonbelievers taking the piss at it while completely missing the rhythmic and harmonic complexities of the song.
