Many who doesn't know the German language so well, think that they sing "fun, fun, fun" on the Autobahn track. They sing "wir fahren, fahren, fahren" which means "we drive, drive, drive". Now you know 🙂
I cannot believe how ahead of their time that Kraftwerk was. Every time, I listened to them, they have this timeless quality to their music. I only have their mid 70’s albums but those albums were sick great.
Thank you for sharing your love for Kraftwerk. The first time i heard of them was on the Movie Breaking. The scene where Turbo was Popping and Locking to Tour De France. I was around 10 years old and thought I was listening to a Electronic Funk Band. The track is so Mesmerizing that as of today I still listen to it. Their Music is so Timeless. R.I.P. Florian Schneider.
What a wonderful tribute and eulogy, Dereck. Your collection is incredible and your knowledge vast. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Florian's passing. His and Kraftwerk's influence on music as we know it today cannot be overstated.
Seen them twice live.....In my home city of Liverpool 2 years ago and in Manchester in early 2000, RIP Florian.....you know your music Sir thanks for this Tribute .
When I was 12 I found Ralf und Florian in a Thrifty's music bin. I didn't know what it was but the cover fascinated me. I still love them 46 years later. I am saddened by his passing. A musical great.
Thank you for sharing your memories of their music and seeing them live! I'm a huge fan of Kraftwerk's music and it's impacted me greatly as an aspiring musician and music lover. They are easily one of the most influential bands ever to all of electronic music, and the world will not be the same with the passing of Florian. RIP Florian Schneider.
Thank you Sir for this Upload. I am Subscribing to your Channel for the simple fact of your enthusiasm for Kraftwerk and all things Kling Klang Studios can clearly be seen in this Upload. Kudos to you and your Amazing Collection. Please do more Uploads with playing some of your FAVORITE Selection from such an AWESOME Musical Talent. Thank you again Sir. WELL PLAYED.....................................................
Love Kraftwerk since I was 13. I'm 52 now. RIP Florian. You and Ralf were once compared to John and Paul by NME as being the most innovative musicians ever. I feel the same too... and oh boy you have such a great Kraftwerk record collection!
It's great to see your passion and energy today Derek. This was a great tribute. Your Passion travels and I can feel how much this music means to you. RIP Florian.
Thanks for sharing your collection and memories. I'm a lot younger than you, born in 1977, I discovered Kraftwerk in summer of 1990 and was completely blown away when I heard it for the first time. And I still remember the summer of 1992 - our class went to England for a short trip (just a week - oh btw. I'm german) and in a record store I've found a copy of RADIO ACTIVITY and that album was probably my soundtrack for the entire summer of 1992. I listened to it endlessly, over and over again - it was gigantic, I loved the overall very dark, melancholic tone.
Thank you for sharing your memories and record collection. Kraftwerk was great when it comes to record collecting. There were so many variation in artwork and languages issued from many countries. There was always another good find. i had the Ralf and Florian LP which I enjoyed hearing Florians flute playing. RIP Florian Schneider.
Well done...a fitting tribute from a true fan. Also RIP Dave Greenfield. These passings have prompted me to call a friend from 40 years ago with whom I reveled in this music. Thank you sir.
Thank you for sharing your memories and thoughts. I'm a music head myself but Kraftwerk are one of maybe 3 total bands that stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard them. For me it was Trans Europe Express. I was blown away. Completely.
Having had the honor of seeing Florian perform live in 2004 with Kraftwerk i must say i was shocked to hear of his passing. His legacy will sound on for Centurys to come.
I only learned of this through this video. All the greats are dying. Bowie, Cohen, Petty, Prince...... the list gets longer and longer. Thanks for this great video and telling us your personal story and relation to it. It must have been amazing to see them live.
Very nice sir, I've been a fan since Autobahn and they (along with Tom Waits) are the two bands/artists that I've always wanted to see live but haven't. I have that neon green 45 of Pocket Calculator also, I would have to say that Computer World is my favorite overall, followed by Man Machine. I was a roadie in my younger days and I used to work for a band that would have us play the song Computer World over the pa system as their intro music. Nice tribute there to a pioneer...RIP Florian.
Electronic Cafe is one of my all-time favorite albums, especially Musiq Non Stop!! The entire 1st side is a masterpiece!! I remember when I was a kid in the mid 70's and my older Brother brought home the Man Machine album and I loved We Are The Robots!!
"Klingklang" is my favorite piece of music by Kraftwerk. I profiled it on my channel a few months back. "Pineapple Symphony" is my second favorite. Their third album, Ralf und Florian, is my favorite overall.
It was a very very bad time for me. Kraftwerk for have been so important and very inspiring for me. I adore their very strong and unique discography. The beautiful thing about them is that they're always being themselves making original music that no one every tried achieving the music. I had played a lot of tracks from some of their albums and it still hits my inspirations for me and hits home. To a legend like the rest of the band especially with Michael Rother, Klaus Dinger etc.
Your audiophonic legacy, as part of Kraftwerk's revolutionary and groundbreaking electronic compositions, will continue to traverse through the Autobahn of present and future generations to come. Thank you. RIP, Mr. Schneider.
RIP Florian Schneider. I grew up listening to Kraftwerk. Sad to think that the originals have come to and end. "Electric Cafe" was the first album that I had ever heard by Kraftwerk and I have to completely disagree that it was their worst album. Even though I never really heard that it was popularly regarded as their worst?! In fact I think it was their best! So memorable and so original. They never made an album that was as engaging in my opinion. "Computer World" was close though.
Hey just to pick up on your mention of how the 'originals' have come to an end. Ralf Hutter is very much alive and active. In fact the last time I saw Kraftwerk Ralf was last to leave the stage and, being near the front, I could see tears in his eyes as he absorbed the huge applause. Good old Ralf. Florian will be a huge loss to Ralf and I wouldn't be surprised if it might trigger some activity in tribute or homage to him.
@@jessemacias2 "there was alot of friction in the band and Electric Cafe' itself, the original version of the album was reworked several times cause they were not agreeing on it's concept, but great record nonetheless 👍"
Haha, 'bottom feeder moments' :D Thanks for sharing your Kraftwerk story! For me as a relative youngster it's cool to see the LPs. RIP Florian, music pioneer and a real Mench
I really love them too, a lot because of the big portals they opened for me to a much bigger musical universe than the very small one I've been fed from Swedish radio and TV in the 60's to 80's when these pioneers did the very most for German culture. I think it was Ralph who was the creative one, mainly, while Florian searched the world for new musical instruments, was on many electronic instruments shows, met Robert Moog, and so on. I think a lot of the robot voices, like in Autobahn, was thanks to Florian. The news about his death made me sad too.
The loss of a pioneer. His legacy and music will live forever. Inspired many artists and sampled by many more. The true legend of techno. You will be greatly missed.
I just found your channel since I am a Kraftwerk fan and you were in my feed. I just subbed. Look forward to more good content, Love that wall of Vinyl!!
Genius, innovative, funny - that was Florian. I’ve admired and loved Kraftwerk since I first heard and saw them many years ago. Thanks for honoring them in this video. 👍👍😘
The first song i noticed from kraftwerk back in the day , even before Das Modell and Die Roboter , 2 of the best singles in the history of contemporary music , was Europe endless , (I got a cassette with the song). So melodic , so melancholic and happy at the same time ! Again , like i said in your short video before this one , R.I.P. Florian Schneider.
Very sad news of Florian passing Dereck. Kraftwerk were hugely influential and inspired so many artists including Bowie, Depeche Mode, OMD, New Order etc. They have been dubbed by some as 'the electronic Beatles' !
Hugely underestimated on the influence they have had on music. I knew about them but discovered more after finding my favourite band OMD. Checkout OMD's last album, The Punishment Of Luxury. You will hear Kraftwerk's influence on this brilliant album. Thanks for sharing your memories.

Thank you i learned
Kraftwerk proved that electronics can be warm and human sounding. Man and machine.
If one band has defined contemporary pop music it's Kraftwerk. Their fingerprint is all over the modern musical topography.
Thank you for sharing your awesome collection with us of Kraftwerk. R.I.P. Florian
Wir fahrn fahrn fahrn auf der Autobahn. Nice video and impressive Kraftwerk vinyl collection. Best wishes from Düsseldorf.RIP Florian Schneider.

Man you are 100% legit the person to talk about this! Great video and nice collection! R.I.P Florian!

I use to Dj electronic and industrial music in college back in the 90’s into 2008 and use to play the hell out of Kraftwerk . 👍🏻

I have everything they ever did - great up to 1981, that’s their peak for me. Also have most of their worldwide singles as well - including a BBC copy
The world is a lesser place without him. RIP Florian.(I just listned to "Ananas Sinfonie; Wonderful!)
