@@murderc27, you have to understand that faith is not about believing in angels in the sky. Faith is the road that you choose with others to come together in order to work as a unity for betterment and to unite values. I understand what it's like to lack faith, but that comes after true prayer and practicing the morals we are taught from not only the Gospel, but from Holy Tradition. I know how lot of American churches can feel empty, or like there isn't a true presence there at all. A lot of them from my experience feel phony or just dead, and that's why I want you to check out and consider the Eastern Orthodox Church. I'll pray for you and your spiritual journey, friend. ❤️☦️
I'm an atheist, don't believe in anything but science. But one thing is certain: Church gives back some power. I don't really have a reason to go, went twice in my entire life, but when I'm there, I feel at home.
Much wisdom told by this simple, but great man. I had a family member that was a WWII vet, fought in Italy and then France and Germany. This man reminded me so much of him. Never complained, never bragged and rarely ever talked about his time in the war. Interestingly, when I asked him how he dealt with the fear of being KIA, he said basically the same thing as this man. There was always a bullet with your name on it and it was fired, it would find you.... thankfully, that bullet never found him. I think that may be why vets are so unassuming, they understand mortality better than most of us.
Old timers like this never complain. They don't sit around feeling sorry for themselves on the inside, either. That's a crazy thing to my generation. And I've been guilty of that too and it makes me mad. RIP Mr. Overton.
My grandfather made me who I am, he was a ww2 and Korean War vet, crossed the riegn River in Germany and was the only one of his boat to make it across, he came home and worked for electric boat and had a hand in building the nautilus, he was the greatest man I ever knew.
"I may give out but I never give up" What a simple but inspirational quote. The human body is mortal but the human spirit is immortal if you choose for it to be.
I'm the grandson of an Army WW2 veteran and also a Marine who served from 91-95. I learned so much from my grandfather until he passed when I was only 9yrs old. He made a big impact on my life.
I got a lot of respect for guys like this. It's too bad there aren't enough of these guys around today. I had relatives in WW2 and got a lot from them.
This channel made me get up at 5 o clock in the morning without thinking "maybe a few more minutes if sleep before work". I have found that if you discipline yourself enough with those little things you get more effective at work and positive attitude the whole day.
I've watched a lot of your videos, and took a lot out of each one and enjoyed them, but will say, in my opinion this is the best one yet. There's a ton of wisdom and perspective in this one!
Beautiful! Thank you so much. As a submarine veteran I have had the pleasure to meet many WWII submarine veterans in my life. Sadly they are all gone and I miss them. Bravo Zulu for posting this video!
He is the definition of character you make and learn from a lot of mistakes after so many years, his wisdom is priceless to those willing to listen. Videos like James is a reminder to us to take stock and make that difference. Thanks James great job fella. 👍
Such a simple man. A plethora of wisdom. I just love him. Much to learn. My biggest takeaway with him is just having contentment and appreciating and enjoying what we have instead of toiling over what we don't
This is absolutely beautiful. This man came from an era of true discrimination and he is nothing but thankful and happy. I honestly wish this man’s outlook on life was more common.
Like my Dad who served in the Army and went to the Philippines during WWll, this gentleman lived through the Great Depression. That generation lived by the tradition of waste not want not. It was hero's like this that made me enlist. Jameson Sir! Stop making me cry!
Wow. I couldn’t help but get a little sentimental. My takeaway...be grateful. Appreciate all the good and and ugly. Seems like a tag like today. But I feel this fine gentleman has discovered the meaning of life. Appreciation. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Be safe.
This is your best video by far! I’d love to see more interaction with veterans. I’m a Proud Canadian, my family is big time RCN on both sides, PPCLI, RCMP, and Provincial and city Police forces. But my great uncle was a WWII RN Veteran and he was cut from the same cloth as this man, when men were men!! 👍👍
Just woke up and this is the first video I watched. I think I'll watch it every morning from now on to help give myself a better perspective and outlook throughout my days. Super inspiring!
Rest in peace Mr. Overton he seems like a good guy and I would be happy to be his grandkid because he has so much wisdom and life lessons I could learn a few things or two and just overall seems like a genuine person it’s like he cares for people around him he’s a selfless man and then I give him mad respect for it
This is why I've loved being a caregiver for the elderly for the last 25 yrs. While I've helped them they have given me many pearls of wisdom. My grandpa lived until 100 He was still riding his bicycle until his early 90s. I think the key is do what you love and keep on moving.
Best Jamesons video yet ! Mr. Overton is exactly what I joined the Navy to become and, while im still a work in progress, exactly like the men and women i now know, love and have as my inner circle thanks to the privilege of having served.
Amazing video thank you for sharing. Reminds me of a thanksgiving 20 some years ago when my wife’s grandfather was still alive. He was in his late 70’s at this time. He was a WW2 vet. Spent time in France . Everyone was getting done eating, cleaning up and getting ready to do dishes and he walks out to the living room and sits down. Tells me to come join him that dishes were “women’s work”. My soon to be mother in law and soon to be wife just looked at me and smiled and laughed and said go sit. I sat down next to him and we talked for hours. He shared about digging tunnels in France, running com wire, air raids and on and on about his time in the war. On the way home I mentioned a little and my mother in law just cried. She had never heard any of these stories. He like so many others just knew they had a job to do. They didn’t do it for the parades, they did it because it was a sense of duty. They kept all that inside them. It was an honor to be the one he chose to share his life as a soldier with. So much history, so much value.
I think a lot of the frugal attitude comes from living through the depression also, my parents were like that. Dad was a WW2 vet also, Canadian but had the same thoughts.
Very touching! I appreciate all the men and woman who fight and have fought for America! It makes my heart melt and flutter, the bravery. Thank you to all the bad ass Veterans!

@@herredward9277 same, its a tradition more than anything where i live
RIP Mr. Overton.
True American ! Cigars ,whiskey and guns.
Rest in peace , Sir
I'm an American but Winston Churchill will like to know your Location 🙏🙂🦅🇺🇲
@@natoalvarez5762 I'm English lol Churchill was a great man and is a hero
He follows Sir Winston’s example for a long life: God, cigars and whisky.
@@siredith8846 what if I roll my cigars?
@@cartiercam3935 Smoke them the healthy way, and you’ll come to no harm.
"It makes ME feel good"... the most valuable thing in life is true happiness
My neighbor is(was) his niece. RIP sir 112 years WOW 🤯 he told it like it is humble, simple. I saw the vid a few years ago .great wisdom.
My grandfather made me who I am, he was a ww2 and Korean War vet, crossed the riegn River in Germany and was the only one of his boat to make it across, he came home and worked for electric boat and had a hand in building the nautilus, he was the greatest man I ever knew.
Jameson, you’re a good guy! I truly appreciated this vivid
I miss men like Mr Overton
@@JamesonsTravels absolutely! Don’t sweat the small stuff Marine, just have a cigar and be thankful!
This channel is therapeutic. Some of these You Tube channels are an art
the simple part this man is talking about is respect for life and ones self
A damn good man. Rest in peace sir, and thank you for your service.
"I may give out but I never give up"
What a simple but inspirational quote. The human body is mortal but the human spirit is immortal if you choose for it to be.
What an amazing man, his positive attitude and outlook on life is probably why he has lived so long
Wow...what a man. My greatest respect.
I'm the grandson of an Army WW2 veteran and also a Marine who served from 91-95. I learned so much from my grandfather until he passed when I was only 9yrs old. He made a big impact on my life.
The heroism of men like this inspired me to serve with both honor and pride.
He is a True American🙏🙏. The way he acts, thinks and says is what we need now and days
Haven't seen all the videos but Jameson became a little sentimental on this one. That's good. God bless!
Incredible!!! They sure don't make men like this anymore. Thank you for you're service Mr.Overton. RIP
I got a lot of respect for guys like this. It's too bad there aren't enough of these guys around today. I had relatives in WW2 and got a lot from them.
The men of that generation are just so, so inspirational... when listening to them speak all you can do is sit quietly in awe and just listen 🙏
This channel made me get up at 5 o clock in the morning without thinking "maybe a few more minutes if sleep before work". I have found that if you discipline yourself enough with those little things you get more effective at work and positive attitude the whole day.
Some friends and I in a cigar group pooled a bunch of cigars and sent them to Mr. Overton some years back. This man is awesome
I've watched a lot of your videos, and took a lot out of each one and enjoyed them, but will say, in my opinion this is the best one yet. There's a ton of wisdom and perspective in this one!
Enjoyed watching the man speak. Reminds me of my grandfather. A ww2 vet
Beautiful! Thank you so much. As a submarine veteran I have had the pleasure to meet many WWII submarine veterans in my life. Sadly they are all gone and I miss them. Bravo Zulu for posting this video!
"The wealthiest person
Is a pauper at times
Compared to the man
With a satisfied mind"
That was absolutely beautiful and worth every second, just as every second of this mans happy life is worth remembering and learning from.
Humility is a great virtue. love this dude
He is the definition of character you make and learn from a lot of mistakes after so many years, his wisdom is priceless to those willing to listen. Our biggest mistake is not making time to listen why would you not want to improve your quality of living for you and your family. Videos like James is a reminder to us to take stock and make that difference.
Thanks James great job fella. 👍
What an amazing person. A real man. We need more like him.
Such a simple man. A plethora of wisdom. I just love him. Much to learn. My biggest takeaway with him is just having contentment and appreciating and enjoying what we have instead of toiling over what we don't
When he says, "Makes me feel good". It makes me feel good :-) A simple man. Much to learn from here. Thankful for all veterans!
I Like how you pointed out, despite the time and error he was living in, he didn't make excuses
That was really pleasant to watch. Definitely a man who has seen a lot and willing to share his wisdom. Semper Fi
He was an incredible man. That is what a truly extraordinary person looks like.
My grandma smoked for 30 years and died at 86, when she died stairway to Heaven was playing on the radio.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Ironic
How come she started smoking at nearly 60 years old?
Poor Single mom with five kids, smoking was a stress reliever.
By the O'Jays?
"if you give up, you're through. You're just doubting yourself." Like iron, that statement will last forever.
Wow. I couldn’t help but get a little sentimental. My takeaway...be grateful. Appreciate all the good and and ugly. Seems like a tag like today. But I feel this fine gentleman has discovered the meaning of life. Appreciation. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Be safe.
This guy REALLY is a jewel. Such great perspective.
This guy might teach young soldiers something about WWII Hell
Amazigh brother 💪🏼✌🏼
What a champion this man is a role model for all of us dose not matter where you live in the world. ❤️🇦🇺🙏
God bless those that served for those that couldn’t
Better Yet Those That Wouldn't!!!
He is probably one of the most inspirational people. I commend him. I hope his family lives up to what he has done.
Thanks for showing us this, I am Canadian and wish some of my family members were alive like my dads uncle.
“If you give up’ , you’re through!” I think that is the quintessential best advice I’ve heard in a long , long time. Classic! 💪❤️🇺🇸
Rest in peace Mr. Overton he seems like a good guy and I would be happy to be his grandkid because he has so much wisdom and life lessons I could learn a few things or two and just overall seems like a genuine person it’s like he cares for people around him he’s a selfless man and then I give him mad respect for it
I could listen to this man all day!! I respect my elders to the fullest!! Always open doors for them and be kind, even if they're in a bad mood.
This man's character is something else. Good, simple humble man. Easily one of my favorite videos
This is why I've loved being a caregiver for the elderly for the last 25 yrs. While I've helped them they have given me many pearls of wisdom. My grandpa lived until 100 He was still riding his bicycle until his early 90s. I think the key is do what you love and keep on moving.
Jameson, you are one of the most open minded people I know. Thanks for analyzing this man's life, I learnt a lot from this. Thank you🙏🏽
So much respect for this man . I'd love to have listen to him for a day and hear his wisdom .
If everyone was like that man the world would be perfect
