    Farmer on the Prairie is about my life on our central Illinois farm. My name is Seth and I am a young farmer with the desire to get things done and to keep the farm running smoothly. The farm is 740 row crop acres and 100 acres of pasture. We run about 100 grass-fed cattle and 1500 meat birds a year. Throughout my videos, you will get to know Dad, MommaD, and Sister. My brothers Josiah and Luke help us whenever there is a big project so they can feel important. We also have a part time employee Ben who is the comic relief. Because so many different things happen on our farm, there is never a dull moment. So tap that Subscribe button and come along for the ride!

    Egg-cellent job boys! That's a 'cracking' piece of construction you have there. No yoke, if I was living in your area I'd order one for myself. You'll both be a big hit with the chicks after this.... :)

    In the blink of an eye, an injury from a power tool can take out your eye - wear eye protection always around power tools and percussion tools like hammers on nails. I have seen goggles with nails in them that saved a person's vision by millimeters...

    Improvise is the adjective that you were searching for , young man . Yes , as many of your commenters have stated , ya 'll may want to reconsider the floor . I believe that you , and your business partner could come up with a simple way to leave the wire floor , then 3 or 4" below that could build some louvered doors that would dump the the stinky poo .. Keeping the chicks safe at the same time , for Sister.. Worth a try , and you get to use and stretch your genius ...

    The floor on the chicken tractor is dangerous in many ways but also won’t protect from predators. Everything else is great

    That is a very nice EGGMOBILE. You craftsmen did a very good job putting that together. Is it planned that this EGGMOBILE, others in the poultry business call this a chicken tractor will be moved to fresh soil every couple of days? Will be looking forward to more stories on the chicken tractor and the new residents.

  • @railfan439

    That large mesh floor won't keep the smaller predators, such as weasels, from entering, Even a raccoon can reach through and grab a chicken. Great start otherwise. Thanks for the video. Jon

      I made the mistake of putting wire that had opening about half that size. Snakes were my problem and chickens hated walking on it. I didn't see Anaya roosting bars either. The chickens will roost in and in front of the egg boxes. Roosting bars need to be as far away from nesting boxes. Ask me how I know.

    • @jstbig1
      @jstbig1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Old farmer is correct, just cut small mesh and throw it over the floor. You can also pull it out and pressure wash it easy.

    How much do u guys think it cost to build ? Materials not wagon. Great job looks great , question could you have the eggs in the nesting boxes roll out side so u don’t have to go in , as much. Todd
