Volkswagen Passat B5.5 2.0 ALT Crankcase Breather Pipe, Alternator & Viscous Fan Tips

As I needed to replace the crankcase breather / vent pipe and it also involved taking off the alternator and viscous fan, I thought this would be a great opportunity to show as much as possible for all processes.
There is a video clip missing where I showed the new and old crankcase pipe side by side but I think I must've filmed it without pressing record lol so it kind of jumps at that point in the video.
I was really hoping to be able to push down on the pipe to clip it in but there's no way to get enough force on it as no space for hands. Even though it works fine just slotted into the hole, I'd much rather take the intake manifold off and be able to push it right down and put the clip back in to hold it in place but for now it isn't going to come out.

@@АндрейВ-х9ц Thanks for watching and commenting. There's loads of these on eBay which is where I bought mine and they're pretty cheap prices at the moment. If you type in the following you'll find them on eBay:- New Breather Hose Valve Fits AUDI VW A4 Avant A6 Passat 06B103211H,06B103211J. Good luck and hope it goes ok. I suggest taking off the whole air intake so you can push it down hard enough to put the retainer clip back in.

A few mechanics refused to repair it, that’s why I decided to sort it myself 😂

@@АндрейВ-х9ц no problem. I hope it goes ok. I don't know why they wouldn't want to do it, it's not that difficult on this model. One other thing I just thought of, if you do take the whole air intake off, it's a good idea to have a spare dipstick tube because they can be tricky and break off as the plastic becomes brittle over time.
