Good that it comes with a carbon filter too as I’ve done a similar test with a sawyer filter and used filthy water from a troth and it was safe to drink but had a serious after taste
So glad to see they fixed their issues! It was always a great system.
I have the first model for years, used it while kayaking on the Ganga, of all places. Never had any problems. You don’t have to replace the filter, just flush it under strong water pressure. As long as the perforations stay open it works.
Ouality at it best! This would work out nice around my cabin. Good they fixed the problems.
Thanks for the video. I appreciate how precious your time is these days. I have a backpacking trip coming up and i'm on the lookout for a filter. Not sure which one to get. There are so many. So it's really good to see a review from someone i feel that i can trust. 👍👍
Nice to see Lifesaver back on the job again.
After your last video regarding Lifesaver I was gutted to see them suffer.
Straight forward video *FP*, simple, to the point, perfect for "real life" learning.
Thanks mate, just cost me about 2 days wages for the all in bottle kit! I like the sounds of it and have been eyeing the Lifesaver system for a few years, softened up during the hoo haw last year but reinvigorated now after yours and others thoughts on the new bottle. I have many filters; Sawyer mini, Katadyn, PUR, Aquamira etc but this one will be prime for preparedness as it does virus control above the other common units that only do bacteria and such.2000 litres of water purified
Nice sensible sized solution to water purification. thanks for sharing.
I bought the Liberty last year based on this video D, ordered the 4000 online a couple days ago after 1 too many ales LOL. No regrets.
did you have any problems a bit later on? did the water taste odd?
ace review! if i didnt have my sawyer and lifestraw then one of these would do nicely! 😊
I have used life-straws in the past. similar gear. they really do work. A must for every Bug out or Urban Bag... Must Best Brother
FYI the Soldier 2000, the Lifestraw , Sawyer products and Katadyn or similar ceramic water filter are just that water filters they are not water purifiers.
Water filters simply block bacteria and let through harmful cysts and viruses.
Eventually these water filters block up with the millions of trapped bacteria which multiply when in or not in use.
Legally a water purifier cannot be called a water purifier unless it meets or exceeds the ANSI/NSF P231 standards for water purifiers. Anything else is just a water filter.
Water filters and water purifiers should not be used to filter sea water or urine - the filter/purifier will get damaged and will not perform correctly and yes you do end up drinking a form of your urine.
The same goes for the use of filters with human or animal feces contaminated water, filters do not completely filter out the bacteria so some may flow through the filter.
Water filters and purifiers should not be used to filter or purify pools of water from mining activity or from pools where water has gathered from farm fields that have been sprayed with chemicals. Filters and purifiers cannot remove these harmful water contaminants even if the product says so.

Thank you for your in depth information, its very helpful, possibly saved me from future illnesses.
I think this warning should be made available to everyone watching reviews on these products.
advise to flush......boil water as a final when you can..........
what about filters that go down to 0.01 microns like survivor or 0.015 microns like lifesaver jerrycan? those get rid of pretty much all waterborne viruses that are known to affect human health (as those viruses are usually in the 0.015 micron range).
but if what you say is true, I guess best line of defence would be boiling, then filtering or if you don't have access to fuel using a UV filter to kill most of the bacteria and render them inactive, then filtering. thanks for the information.
If you get a Nalgene bottle it will actually screw to the top we’re the water exits so if you throw the hose in you can fill the bottle easily
Great video! So good to see you!
Very cool, a nice bit of gear
Good video and nice to see you have survived😂 I have the Jerry can and the water bottle. I love the hose attachment really handy although a bit noisy. Does the bottle come with all the attachments or are they extra?
Thanks
Nice video mate, I use a sawyer mini myself.
Colin Brown; Me to Colin have had mine for about a year and it will filter anything and is small enough to carry in a small pocket.
The Sawyer Mini is just a filter not a purifier. The Sawyer Mini blocks Bacteria which eventually multiply inside the filter - use it once and leave it for a month and open up the Sawyer filter and you will see it's furred up with millions of bacteria inside. The Sawyer Mini also lets dangerous cysts and virus through which if you're immune system is low can seriously make you ill.
Nice one Funky, I'm getting one of those. Thank you brother 😊
Good move, lots of us have them now. Worth there weight in gold
Is the filter easily available and from where?
Great product great review . great vid thanks Darren
Wondering if the floater tube foamy moves up the hose at all?. I’m thinking it might be easier to pump the water out of the pond if the filter was under the water? Instead of partially floating on top?. Hard to figure out when your not there. Thanks
Looks like it does move up so the end is in the water
Rocking the boonie brother, great looking kit mate, cracking design and awesome review. Well done. Cheers Moose.
G'day Funky :) looks like a great piece of kit mate. Great review . Cheers for sharing.

Thanks for the review, looks good
I was gagging looking at that water..I'm impressed it was clean and you drank it!! A little concerned about your comment about the "woodsy taste" and earlier about the mineral taste. Thinking about one!
Impressive, cheers. A smaller version, for a few days hike, would be perfect.
Dose the Liberty-life saver filter remove good minerals or not ?
HI Funky, hope you are all well. Cracking demo that.
I have the filters readily available like this, but the Filters not as easy to find to buy
Will it fit in one of those cheap molle water bottle pouches like a Condor pouch?? Be hand if it did extra pouch at frint for filter. Sling over shoulder leaving 2 hands free to bring water to camp
Pretty cool piece of kit!
I love how he says “Like hot days like this”
I’m like what if you lived in California I mean your wearing a jacket😂anyways great video man
great bit of kit mate and yeah spot on support british made gear.
The tube is better to use to stop any cross contamination I guess.
👍👍
Took me a minute to remember where the music was from. Tenchu!
Are you sure you have to keep some water in it when you store it? Katadyn says: dry it before storing it. What can you tell about it? Did Liberty advise this also?
Do you answer at all? I don't see many answers at all?! here.
@@onnonugteren2935 instructions included, yes .
Found survival Russia, you do a great impression of Lars.
Funkyprepper, I bet theres one piece of kit you don't have... Clove oil - If you have toothache.
BTW, my wife loves your video's, she won't let me watch them on my own, lol.
good video but i am looking for a filter that i can put water in one end and get beer out the other .
Hmmm interesting video! I had the old style Lifesaver and liked it, but way to expensive! Looks like their prices are competitive and I like the redesign! I use a Gray Water Purifier the GeoPress But I may get this one too. Also have a GoBerkey the stainless canister and the single filter.
Question? Looked on the Lifesaver website for shelf life on sealed filters, couldn’t find the info unless I missed it? Anyway I would give the Lifesaver thumbs up 👍🏻 with my prior experience with the
I see you have some new rings on your fingers :)
how about a story time video telling us about some of your EDC gear including rings an other cool things
what about salt water or fuel contamination
Nice!
I like it ...........screw ..pump... And go. That's a. That's what she said moment lol😂
Does anyone know durable is it? What if dropped?
If your water supply is poor, don't whinge, just suck it up lol 😂. Joking aside, great vid Funky, thanks for posting
is that a peacock or a dog running in the background?
can you back flush the filter like some of them, But £90, ooohhh
Had some sound quality problem
I got one my self
I did some modifications on the scavenger hose
I put on some brass pipe on the tip of the hose, so it will completely submerged
And make sure the water on the bottle is full before pumping from the scavenger
It will fill up water soooo fasttttt
My instagram is @akowari
Proud owner of lifesaver from indonesia

I wanna see one of these water systems used in a gamey used toilet... like after Fat Bastard was there hahaha

It doesn't filter/purify urine
£139.99 to save a life
Wrong colour of jacket in the hot weather lol.
Hot weather mate, that's England, lol. It all goes to the wall when it reaches 20*. :-)
DOOD!
It seems funkyprepper doesn't answer any questions at all here. Not good.
