So many traditional kung fu schools look on Sanda/SanShou as an illegitimate art. I actually enjoy Sanda, along with Kali's Panantukan, more than any other striking system. I do not see it as an insult to any historical Shaolin or WuDang practices, if anything it celebrates all Kung Fu styles by merging the most practical and highest percentage movements into one system. Many criticize it as being a Muay Thai ripoff, but this is not true. Two different groups of people can arrive at very similar conclusions independent of each other if presented with similar struggles and goals.
Sanda is a great practice that has translated greatly into international kickboxing, mma, and has been the basis of China's hand to hand system for their military, along with Chin Na seizing joint locks. I only wish there were more availability of qualified instructors here in the US.

many people call sanda a ripoff of muay thai because of the kickboxing sadly

This looks awesome. Is it possible to learn in China? When I go back to live there I want to study it.

The pat block seems like it comes from Wing Tsun, with deflection instead of a full-fledged block. The pat-and-press block also looks like a bong sau, if I’m not mistaken, as well as the outward interception.

It also seems to be a parry from boxing, if I'm not mistaken...
Thank you for your attention to detail, regardless.

@@cringeyidiotterry Wing Tsun and boxing seem to have a lot of techniques that they share. It's only people that try to separate them and act like they're more different than they actually are.
