As an interesting side note, one of the guests, the writer Anne Perry, murdered the mother of her best friend which was the subject of Peter Jackson's 'Heavenly Creatures'. I'm not sure whether the character portrayed in that film or the person in this documentary is the crazier.
LudvigIndestrucable Heavenly Creatures is a highly fictionalised version of her early life, a lot of it is speculation.
Mormons, the first ever preppers
I wonder if Joseph Smith being dissatisfied with the state of Christianity in his time adopted new things from other faiths and integrated things into a new faith...there seems to be a Search for the source of the origins of Christianity I guess it's about being part of a new social group that one feels connected to rather than being part of the mainstream
Well that was 51 minutes of softball questions presented by and to people who knew basically nothing about the Mormons.
it's not an investigative show, it's about presenting people as they are, and the Mormon church, just like other religions, quietly change their beliefs to suit each generation so as not to lose followers - such as when God 'changed his mind' about not allowing black Mormon priests in 1978, the practice of baptising the dead in 1995 and the earlier practice of polygamy. Every few years there will be a new spin.
The beauty of the show is it allows the people on it to expose just how odd themselves and what they're peddling are/is.
Wow there is definitely a Mormon look.

The mormon church counts as "members" all individuals that have been baptized into the faith. Those who quit attending, leave the church, or die (until their 120 year old birthday) are considered by LDS Inc. to be "members". True estimates of the PRACTICING mormon population range in the 3-5 million members, not the 14 million claimed by the LDS church. Getting all your information for this show from true believes is a sure way to get propaganda, not facts.
But the show's presenter presents this all in a tounge in cheek style that most of the audience is in on. And in this day and age, we generally speaking all know about the weirder religions and cults exaggerating their stats anyway.

Landsendryan, I agree completely. PROPAGANDA. This was a very poor representation of Mormonism. NOT A MENTION OF JOSEPH SMITH! He's their big saint. No mention of ruling Planet Kolub! Men (fathers, husbands, fellow church members) are "priests" and bishops, but women just serve. And believe they will continue to have spirit babies for eternity! While hubby rules outer space with God. It's Jesus plus Scientology all jumbled up! With some Muslim attitudes on women and their roles in society. They treat their daughters and wives well--and most are happy, blessed in their ignorance, happy little Republicans who must keep a perfect home, have perfect children, be a perfect wife. Or suffer an eternity of punishment. Go forbid you or hubby be sterile, go bankrupt, or he likes the neighbor better (and if it's a guy???). There is no room for you. But if that's your cup of tea--and you love serving tea, and men, it's almost heaven.
