If you get Professor acceptance and PhD admission- university will hire you as teaching assistant or your supervisor will hire you as research assistant. You dont have to apply for it separately- its part of the deal

@@afrahsaid9962 beta it is not compulsary to be a research assistant. But once you get enrolled in your PHD program, universities pay you by hiring you as a research assistant or teaching assistant. It is not mandatory if you dont want the money

I’ve been contacting professors via email for a couple of months now and I can confirm that it is challenging.
Also, I’ve been getting a lot of feedback from professors that don’t accept international students since they cannot apply to government funding, some see international students as a burden in a sense, it has been really frustating hearing that.
Nonetheless, I shall continue to send emails until I find the right fit for me!

What do you mean by which intake? There is mostly only September intake for Canadian universities with few January intake

Mam As I have seen the most of the universities has deadline like 15 novermber to 1 December 2023 for septemer 2024 intake .But I am not graduated yet and my theisis is not completed. Do you think I have missed the deadlines or One should have to apply once the degree is completed?
Few deadlines are until Jan 15 as well
You still have some time to reply. If you get the admission they will make it “conditional” until your degree is completed

Danial with research experience your chances are 100%. You only have to make a strategy to get it. Like start an excel sheet with the names of universities, then names of professors of psychology in those universities whose work appeal you. Then keep a track record of who you sent email etc. also make sure to send a followup email after 3-4 days of original email as that increases your chances

Acceptance letter has no expiry date. You only use this for getting admission. In Canada sometimes it not a full letter letter, it can only be a verbal yes from your supervisor
Once a supervisor is ready to recruit you in their lab, they invite you to apply for admission. Then if their is a delay in visa, university extends your admission offer letter

These are all rare in canada for masters. Please do check before joining.There are so many different courses in Canada , which are something like business for some universities.
Hi MSc and PhD positions are not rare - maybe we all are not exposed to them that much. I agree mostly colleges which are offering diploma etc. are there for business purpose. Fully funded positions are actually from Government universities and not from private small colleges. I have seen people even bragging 500$ as scholarship but the funding I am talking about covers 80-90% of the fee and living cost
I mean funded masters are very small percentage.

I have seen students getting acceptance all year round but mostly Summer is ideal as supervisors have less teaching commitments and are more available to recruit students
Most deadlines are Jan-Feb for September intake. And students get their acceptance before that to start for next year September. Its not about getting an acceptance letter merely. Its about getting acceptance to work in their lab for that they can invite you for a virtual interview or a virtual presentation even

I need an assistance as I got response from supervisor in Mcgill University and she recommend me to apply to university first. But the issue is I got 6.5 bands in IELTS. While 7 is the required band. Should I reattempt Ielts or I can go with the current score as the deadline is approaching that is 15th jan 2024.
