    Hey y'all! Make sure you watch Day One Part One for this mare first! I had to get a bit more firm this session to prevent bad habits from forming. This mare is STRONG. And she is a bit defensive (understandably!) so we're working through it together. We achieve more leading, giving to pressure, rope desensitizing, and the tag is officially off! Day Two coming out soon.

    In the first video someone suggested Whisper as a name, which was fitting for this calm but kinda mysterious horse. Many people seemed to like it
    I would like to add Brise. Brise? Brece? Like a gentle gust of wind. Sorry for my bad english.
    Has anyone other words like the two?

    Could you do a detailed video about how you teach the directional cues when the time comes. Like steering with the bit. I have a mare who is great with lunging and leading but I’ve had a lot of trouble getting her to steer. It’s really the last thing we have to master with her, we’ve backed her and just had somebody lead her and she’s great being tacked up she’s not scared of anything but steering she just does not get.

      a lot of them arent! the one she is doing right now is not, you sign up online... check mustang heritage foundation website and you can find a list of events and then just sign up for one of those.... TIP challenges are smaller then makeovers and are just in hand training and makeovers are often under saddle. The one i think you are talking about is players choice?? that one i believe is by invitation that was the one she had roulette for. I compete and train mustangs and my first was for a tip challenge, its an incredible experience but they are addicting!!!

    Some of this behavior has me wandering if she's someone's yearling that they just... you know... let off to join a herd when they got impatient with training her, because like you said, stubborn and STRONG. Just because the girth being a twitchy area, her issue with the rope on her back, the way she moves, I dunno, it reminds me of yearlings who got handled by cowboys for some reason.

    • @april5666
      @april5666 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't think that's a reasonable idea. Sam has about all she handle working with a wild mustang; as she said several times in her voice over, she has to change what she's working on from one second to the next multiple times. I think trying to do the comments while doing the work might compromise the work, which is really the whole point. Besides, I enjoy your voice overs matched to the action. PS People must drive you a little nuts with giving name suggestions right from the get go. Like you, I think you need to get to know an animal before you give it a name. Just some thoughts :)

    • @wisco_evo
      @wisco_evo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@april5666 I disagree and think it could be a great idea especially to those maybe trying to train a horse themselves to know where her mind is at while she expirences the different behaviors of the horse while training. Could make it more of a "thinking out loud" idea rather than feeling the need to explain what's going on the whole time. Idk just an idea that could help others and potentially engage viewers more with what's going on.

    • @ronyoryu
      @ronyoryu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That could get hairy for multiple reasons, not the least of which is that there are far too many people who learn tasks on TH-cam, and while it is a great learning aid, it is not always a good replacement for in-person training under someone who knows what they are doing, especially when you are dealing with animals. The horse should always, always, always, be the focus, which Sam gets. If she ever feels comfortable enough to start doing body mics, more power to her, but we (the viewers) shouldn't pressure her to do that. Your comment is all about how to help the viewers and engage them, not about the HORSE.
