    This showed that he was more than a mere singer. He was a true performer who could act and do intentional comedic parodies, even of himself in performance as well as realistic acting! What a shame there is not more!

    I didn’t know that Caruso had made any movies until I saw this one. Thank you for a joyful discovery!

      To my knowledge this is the only movie he made.

      He starred in a picture in 1919 called ‘The Splendid Romance’. It is presumed to be lost today, although the Wikipedia article on it curiously states “a copy may exist in a private collection.” Thank you for uploading this time capsule.

    Wow, I was reading a book that quoted Caruso in one part, at the same moment I went to search about him on youtube and you released this video at the same time

    Tragedy of tragedies! The Great Caruso in a SILENT movie! Well, it is funny in a bizarre sort of way.

    Wow, that’s a great movie. His whole life depended upon his famous cousin acknowledging his existence. It’s a good thing he had a nice cousin. I’m so glad everyone survived that.

    What is the point of a silent movie starring the greatest world tenor???

    • @capoulv1
      @capoulv1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      peut-être pour nous montrer ses talents de comédien, d'acteur.

      In 1918 all movies were silent. The first movies with sound started in 1926.

      Maybe a few hundred thousand people had heard him sing live, but millions had heard him on phonograph records by 1918. Being able to see him "on stage" even if only on film was quite a step up, and filled in the blanks for the millions who had heard his records, but had never seen him on stage, or been able to afford the opera. It wasn't a silent movie back them - it was a real movie - a chance to see a great man "go through all the motions," even if you had to buy the record to know it sounded. (didn't hurt record sales either.)

    A silent movie with Enrico Caruso is about as sensible as the BBC having a radio show with a ventriloquist. ( which they actually did. It was called Educating Archie)

      I'm so sorry that I offended you. So movies with Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton are just as ridiculous?
