      Yes, and as a pensioner who had to wait until reaching 66 (last year) to get it, I’ve only had the fuel payment once. Priority is given to illegals who have contributed NOTHING to our country, over home grown Brits. It’s absolutely appalling.

Its also a thing of wanting to protect your family. once you can claim asylum it is easier to then get the rest of your family out of harms way. in addition, you are complaining about 50 thousand people/year out of 750 thousand, about 5 percent of immigration.

      entering a country via any means and then claiming asylum is not illegal. the laws explicitly states that people can do that if they claim asylum. if you dont claim, that is criminal, however we see that the amount of people coming into the uk via non legal means tracks well with the amount of asylum claims. the amount of true illegal migrants in the uk is extremely small

Refugees can claim asylum anywhere but immunisation against prosecution for illegal entry under the refugee convention and the law is for those who enter direct from a country where they are at risk of persecution. Almost none of those entering the UK qualify. Look it up. The Convention is online. And those who qualify still count as unlawfully present and can be deported to another safe country.

But illegal entry has always been illegal here except under the exception under Article 31:1 of the Refugee convention. That one can't be prosecuted for illegal entry if one comes direct from an unsafe country. Re deportation legal refugees (the convention draws no distinction between asylum seekers and refugees, an asylum seeker is a refugee until proved otherwise) can only be deported on certain grounds. Illegally present refugees, including those immunised against prosecution can be freely deported to a safe country provided they are given time to self deport. Though we still have to process their claims. Personally I think it's a thoroughly sensible document though both liberals and the far right collude in pretending it is far more extensive in it's protections than it actually is. Sorry to go on, I'm a pedant! Peace

    Exactly Starmer needs to condemn all extremism, all hate, all rioting. He seems very selective currently.
