Autism - My Story - Rosalind | NHS

In this video, Rosalind tells her story of being an autistic woman.
She talks about events in her childhood that led to her diagnosis, the importance of recognising phobias and her love for her family and animals.
Rosalind also provides advice to how society can better understand autistic people.
Rosalind was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at a young age when it still was a medical diagnosis. Although Asperger syndrome as a diagnosis does not reflect current NHS or government practice, Rosalind still identifies with Asperger Syndrome.
Being autistic does not have to stop you having a good life.
Like everyone, autistic people have things they're good at as well as things they struggle with.

I have autism and anxiety but people know me I'm just autistic and I'm just really a teenager now and I'm 15 and I'm going to be 16 next year and I really miss my family and friends and teachers and assistants and helpers are at home now because we are in isolation and I'm going to college and study law business and sociology and economics and social media and gcse I did a little research with my friends and when I'm 23 and work at mcdonalds and sell chips cheeseburgers and milkshakes and mcflurrys and stuff school is particularly good for me because I like university and I'm really proud of myself and my family and friends and teachers and assistants and helpers are very proud of me
