As a haunt actor im on as a casted character the entire time but I totally love it! Totally wort being tired at the end of the night. They do let us go to the bathroom whenever needed and they bring us water and snacks.
Brandon Gersick do you have any advice for playing a survivor character that leads groups around a zombie themed maze? I have an audition next Tuesday and I have no idea how to prepare!

that’s so different to me- i work at a local haunted house, and we don’t have enough actors to do breaks & stuff, so you just act all night. we usually bring like a drawstring bag with snacks, our phone, a portable phone charger, and waters and just go to the bathroom when we need to or go get ice or something if we get hurt. it’s not a constant stream of people like horror nights probably is, unless it’s halloween or the saturday before, so we can usually just chill in our scenes.
I work at a haunted forest in NC, we don’t have set breaks but the owners encourage you to pace yourself and you have lots of freedom so you can just sit there and stare creepily if you’re tired, you can also use the bathroom whenever. Of course I’m exhausted at the end but I tend to do a lot especially on stilts just because I love it and have fun. I think I would be annoyed of leaving every hour but I’m used to going non stop for 5-6 hours
There are thousands of places across the country where you can do scare acting. I am scare actor at Kings Island. I highly encourage everyone who's interested to try it out. It's so much fun. Great video!

Interesting, you and I had opposite break schedules, last year I was on for 45 minutes and off for 45 minutes, this year I did an hour on and 30 minutes off
Is there a certain weight and height for a certain scare actor role?

How expensive is it living in LA? How difficult to find a job/apt? I’ve heard prices have skyrocketed recently & hard to find work.
Cathy Baker studio apartments in okay areas start at $1100-1300/mo not including utilities and such. I’ve lived here for 13 years, Studios in 2008 were $695/mo and have obviously skyrocketed.
Jobs are insane to find especially if you’re trying to do something specific, and apartments are just as insane to get due to the “you must make 3x the rent” rule 95% of apartments have.

stay in character whole time no matter what happens and rude guests as well but sometime, you gotta break a character when dealing with super rude guests and called security or your coworkers for help. Vitamins every nights and energy drinks to haha. I was a former scare actor for Knotts scary farm and the 17th door btw
It's so so weird for me to see how it works for haunts at Universal, compared to run of the mill houses. The breaks, set up, etc. I definitely prefer working at my home haunt over the thought of working at Universal, mostly because I get free range of character.

Can you please do a living in LA Q&A next? I've been thinking about moving there just because I've always wanted to live there and maybe go to school there too. My question is, do you think a person can live by themselves there and make the rent with the rent prices? Or would you suggest roommates? And if you do, what would be the best way to find friendly roommates? Love your content!
TheStaceySquad as someone who lives around the same area Sierra does, all of Los Angeles is insanely expensive, I’m 31 years old and have lived here for 13 years, I USED TO be able to afford it on my own, now? Absolutely not, at least not without three or four jobs, a studio apartment starts at $1100-1300/mo not including utilities.
Plus, everyone is trying to live here, so finding jobs and housing is insanely difficult.
So I’d suggest roommates for sure.

I’m 14 and I was born in la. My parents don’t have good jobs I mean office or teacher jobs. My dad works at a dry cleaners and my mom cleans houses but are able to make enough money to pay rent buy food and pay any other expenses and some luxuries. We live in a 1 bedroom apartment that is quite big and they pay 1100 a month. I would say if you’re trying to move here come a couple weeks maybe even months prior to look for a place and job. If you don’t have much money I would say look into the Koreatown and mcarthur park area although it’s not Hollywood it’s a good area Koreatown for sure is but mc Arthur area is a little more dangerous. In Koreatown especially by Vermont and Olympic I’ve heard that a lot of the apartments are owned by one person so not a company therefore it’s easier to find a cheaper place. However by living here you do need to know it’s nothing like Hollywood where it’s luxurious. I don’t think you’ll need a roommate unless you don’t find a decent paying job. I would also say if you want a roommate be careful with who you choose there are definitely a lot of mentally ill people, so maybe move out with a cousin? Sibling? Or friend? As you spend time here and build up how much money you have then upgrade to a better area but for recently moving without money make smart decisions on how you spend your money look into cheap places within a somewhat good area and maybe talk to people who live in that building or neighborhood and stay away from downtown, Hollywood, and any place up north it’s very expensive.
How old do you have to be to become a scare actor? Also what do you need to have when applying? (Is there a website or something for applying?)

18 and older and make sure your comfortable in the dark/loudness.
There are also local places that can hire you younger it depends on the haunted house tho but most won't hire under 16

My kid loves Universal and her dream Job is to work there for HHN.The only problem is that she is 10 and I am not able to find and sacare acting jobs for her, and I know it might sound silly for a 10 year old girl.Does anyone know and places where she can scare people because HHN actors have to be 18 or older to work there.I live very close to Universal studios Orlando so please let me know!
