It is truly mind boggling and I hope he comes around. I agree we need more roles for many minorities but, why can't those in the business get scripts that embrace that. Instead they are taking many roles in this movie in which little people could literally make their careers and instead they choose this. I swear it feels like so many in these positions are now just acting like rebellious preteens, though I also worry they are just trying to breakdown truth in society.
He referred to them living in a cave... They have a cottage, you dwarfist! I don’t think he has seen the movie recently or knows what role the dwarves play in the story.
They are strong, kind, and loyal. When Snow White dies, they fashion a glass coffin to preserve her forever, a very sentimental tribute; Grumpy finally acknowledges his affection for her, but alas!-only in time to grieve her. His journey in particular is the most nuanced emotional growth portrayed in the film. These characters are not demeaned, they are not depicted as whatever lowly half-wit creatures Dinklage was imagining.

The thing about WeeMan in Jackass, he was always viewed by those in the show and those who watched the show as just one of the guys. Being a dwarf was always an afterthought and seldom, if ever, mentioned, as everyone just thought he was cool.

He was absolutely right at 1:11, it IS typecasting and I don't get why that should be bad. Obviously, dwarfism rules out a lot of normal-sized roles, which makes movies like this all the more important for them as career opportunities and chances to show off their acting prowess. Disney was so scared of Dinklage that they didn't even recognize the possibilities in both having little people portray the dwarfs in a realistic manner (as opposed to uncanny valley cgi nonsense) and also make a name for themselves for giving actors with dwarfism an opportunity to prove themselves.

Peter Dinklage's take on this felt like the ultimate definition of 'Fuck you, got mine'. It was like he was saying since he played Tyrion no little person should ever need to play a dwarf in fantasy again, like no young up and coming little person actors might appreciate a leg up in the business.

That role is a terrible example though, Tyrion in the books was a little person. He WAS typecast for that role. He has been an incredible actor in many other roles where his height isn't a focal point and the actor could've been any height but tyrion absolutely had to be played by a little person, it was a major part of his character and the main reason his father disliked him and favored his 2nd born son Jamie over him.

He nailed it. If a smaller studio can redo sonic last minute, Disney can redo snow white with actual dwarves. Hes also right about it being typecasting and also essential jobs, any exposure is good exposure. Warwick Davis was typecast but his performances are some of the most memorable in every film he appears.

One of the most annoying things about all this is that dwarves, in a fantasy sense, are a legitimate race of smaller humans who are miners (where do you think World of Warcraft got their dwarven race from?)
“Dwarfism” actually took its name from “Dwarven People” in fantasy and old Germanic folklore and not the other way around.
But all this is to say, this just shows that Disney straight up doesn’t understand their OWN stories and instead are opting for a politically charged narrative instead.

I would like to point out a movie here: Time Bandits. Still one of my favorite dark comedy films. Love the dark ending of it, and it had a cast of terrific comedic actors that did a fantastic job of portraying fun likeable characters, shown solid comedic timing delivering their lines, and they also had some impressive acting chops! Not sure what Disney is thinking on this one... then again, I don't think Disney has done anything worth a crap since the 90's...
