I went to Wimbledon home games regularly at Plough Lane as a boy in the mid/late 1980s in the first season or two Wimbledon were in what is now the Premier League. Seeing giants of the time like Liverpool and Everton playing there, and such teams' famous players at close hand, was surreal. Several of the Wimbledon players of that era went onto big moves to bigger clubs (e.g. Winterburn, Beasant, Wise, Thorne, Scales).
In 1986 Merton council approved to build a stadium on Wandle meadow wel bygrove mead it was alled then but it didn't go ahead after residents turned it down in 1989
What accent you got there bud ? Hearing a geordie/ north east accent but with a bit of scouse or american thrown in. Not trying to offend. Are you maybe from the North east originally but have been living elsewhere for a while ?

Sam Hammam withdrew the planning application, once he heard that it would receive cross party approval.
I was at that 6-0 win v Newport😀
Would have been a good day out.
Always had a soft spot for Wimbledon should never have left plough lane
I think they had no choice but to leave due to the Taylor Report. It is good to see AFC are back playing at the new Plough Lane though.
@@historyoffootball87 could have made it all seater but it would have reduced the capacity by a lot I imagine
One thing they're missing by the return to Plough Lane is the excellent 'Fat Boy's Cafe' adjacent to Kingsmeadow.
Up The Gas!
@@peterdemeteor8399 brilliant cafe!! I used to go to Kingsmeadow to watch Kingstonian and went to Fat Boys a few times!!
@@Overkill2008 give and take, about eight thousands, if converted to all-seater, which became an issue during post-FA Cup victory in 1988

It's a mixture of a lot of different things but I live in the North East.
you mentioned their highest attendance and never said it lol
18,080 was the record attendance.
@@historyoffootball87 thanks :)
Carshalton is pronounced as Car - shalton, not as Cars - halton. Just saying. :-)
