    Interesting daily quote.
    We train in he park, sharing ideas, techniques, etc.
    No tests, no awards, no belts, no recognition, just the satisfaction of sharing knowledge.

    Sooo how effective is it in a sword fight to throw it in the air and then catch it upside down by the blade

    • @DastardlyDistaste
      @DastardlyDistaste 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      atlantakid1 It generally isn't. Drunken Fighting makes use of intentionally deceptive styles in order to attack from strange angles and catch opponents off guard. In most swordplay, one would never release the blade for an extended period of time. In all honesty, I doubt the effectiveness of doing it even in drunken style, as swordplay tends to be incredibly quick, and even attempting such a trick without proper distance between one's self and the opponent would mean death or injury.

      Dastardly Distaste Yeah really, if you're gonna throw your sword, make it a throw your opponent has to worry about. If you toss it straight up it's just asking to be beaten aside, and then you're the guy who brought his fists and maybe a dagger to a sword fight.

    I think you have been successful on creating your own form. You show No aspects of Zui Quan or Drunken fighting. I can't believe that the people in your class haven't figured out that this is complete BS. I know there are many Drunken Sword forms and I don't know them all. However, When you have seen and done a few. You know when you see something horribly wrong. If anyone wants to see a drunken form, check out Jet Li Drunken Sword form. Some of you might say he is just an actor. However, Jet Li is a Wushu Champion and trained as a martial artist before becoming an actor. Also, if you think this video looks weird. Just search Drunken sword forms. There are many quality examples on TH-cam.
