Hygrophila 'Araguaia'

Hygrophila ‘Araguaia’ is a medium category plant available in Tropica’s 1-2-Grow range where it is produced in-house in Tropica’s Danish laboratory. It stays relatively short when compared with most other Hygrophila species with compact needle shape leaves that can range in colour from reddish brown through to purple depending on the lighting and nutrient conditions. The stems branch easily and over time with appropriate trimming can form am attractive compact bushy appearance. It’s growth rate is similar to most other Hygrophila species but due to its low position in the aquarium the light levels are usually lower and growth therefore slower. Because it is a medium category plant it usually requires CO2 injection and moderate to strong lighting to thrive. A nutrient-rich substrate and regular liquid fertilisers will also promote healthier growth.

This plant has such an interesting color and texture!
When I went to college years ago, I got two semesters towards a horticulture degree. One of the classes I took was landscape design. This was before I ever knew anything about aquascaping! My love for landscaping and gardening has taken a whole new meaning with what I found when I started following you! During my semester I learned about plant placement, the different types, textures and what size they would be when matured... I learn to draw detailed blueprints for the landscapes I designed..
I look at your aquascapes and I can almost see a blueprint of the way you would design around a home, or yard... I moved away from the college I was attending and I have not found a college near me that offered that degree! I would love to find where I could study online to finish it. It's been on my mind lately that I could really do something within the aquarium hobby if I went back and finished it!! Watching how you use each of your beautiful plants from Tropica has inspired me so much!
I know sometimes my comments are random, the point is... you make me think and want to know more!! I would love some day to be able to create beautiful natural underwater worlds! I had really never thought about going back to school until now! I don’t see why it’s a medium category plant. I can’t kill it. I tried to remove it from my tank and it keeps popping up despite my efforts.

Good point Steven. Although it might be a resilient plant it's mostly about what it'd take for it to reach the "ultimate form". Most plants can survive in average conditions but not all really thrive.
