  • These commercials aired on WTTG on October 22nd, 1977
    1. McDonald's (The quality is rough here but gets better)
    2. Marching Mickey Mouse (Creepy)
    3. Tree Tots Sky Coaster
    4. District of Columbia Dental Society PSA
    5. Raggedy Ann and Andy Talking Bank (Apparently Raggedy Ann and Andy talk like two kids from Long Island)
    6. Red Cross PSA
    7. Consumer Information Catalog PSA
    8. Promo for "Kifaru! The Black Rhinoceros"
    9. Promo for "Kifaru! The Black Rhinoceros"
    10. TCR Jam Car Speedway
    11. Hardy's (With Halloween Fun Machine!)
    12. Turn On!
    13. Preisthood PSA (Remember, always listen to that voice inside that tells you to do stuff)
    14. Museum of History and Technology PSA (Probably one of the funniest TV glitches I've seen)
    15. Up! Against Time
    16. Preisthood PSA
    17. Kids Are People Too PSA
    18. Salvation Army PSA
    19. Preisthood PSA
    20. Girard College PSA
    21. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration PSA
    22. Community Enterprise Development Association (The carpet at 11:23 looks like hot lava)
    23. USO PSA
    24. Focus PSA
    25. Promo for "Tom and Jerry"
    26. Campfire Girls PSA
    27. Summer Enrichment PSA
    28. Promo for "The Jetsons"
    29. Mego Farrah Fawcett Doll (Mego made a series of Barbie-style fashion dolls of famous women back then that also included Cher and Diana Ross)
    30. Montgomery County Thrift Shop
    31. Play 'n Make
    32. Putt-Putt All Aboard! Motor Railroad (With Corey Feldman. The other kid might be Kirk Cameron?)
    33. Batman CSF Bat Copter
    34. Baby Needs You
    35. Big Wheel
    36. Baby This 'n That
    37. Putt-Putt Speedway
    38. McDonald's (It's really hard to believe that a group of people actually approved these costumes for The Hamburglar and Captain Crook. How many nightmares were caused?)
    39. Triple Up
    40. Trix (It's weird that they show the prize inside at the beginning of the ad, I guess putting them at the end was a later development?)
    41. WTTG Station ID
    42. Power Shifters
    43. National Park Service PSA
    44. Youth Pride Inc. PSA
    45. Electroman
    46. Crimestoppers PSA (I'm sorry the audio quality prevents you from understanding a damn word he says)
    47. American Cancer Society PSA (The animation here is pretty terrifying)
    48. Mego World's Greatest Super Heroes (Unquestionably the best line of toys back then...before Kenner's Star Wars line defined exactly what an action figure was. How they got the licenses to DC, Marvel, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes and a gazillion other properties is beyond me)
    49. Cathedral Fund PSA
    50. Promo for "The Andy Griffith Show"
    51. Forest Service PSA
    52. Promo for "Tom and Jerry"
    53. Promo for "Tom and Jerry"

I chuckled on the Farrah doll commercial when she lifted the dress up from her ankles and the boy quickly covered his eyes. Such innocence then! I miss it!

That Farrah doll did not look anything like Farrah Fawcett lol Farrah was beautiful the doll look more like a knock off at the 5 & dime store. It cracked me up the teeth were hilarious it was a fugly ugly doll lol I’m still laughing. If I were her at the time they would be sued. RIP Farrah Fawcett.

Lately, I've been putting on a lot of this channel's videos, mostly in the background. I love how cheery the advertisement music used to be in the 70s and 80s. But my actual favorite thing about this channel would probably be all the nostalgia and memory sharing in the comments of each video, because it adds a lot of interesting context. As the commercials here aired 2 decades before I was born, it's a little bit like a time capsule or history lesson in itself for me. Thanks for the great uploads and to all of the nice people in the comments section.

I have seen the Consumer Information Catalog PSA so many times that I still remember the address, I was like blaa blaa blaa blaa 81009. When I was a kid I always wanted to send of for the catalogue just to see what I would get back.

14:03 I'm originally from Silver Spring MD in the 70's & remember WTTG CH 5 DC. It was an independent channel before it became a FOX Affiliate in '87. Independent channels only showed so much kids programming on Saturday Mornings compared to the Big 3 Networks: ABC, NBC & CBS. Just watching that segment alone almost makes me homesick.
Thanks for the nostalgia. It's good to see a segment of home, for a time😏.

Anyone else have to do a double-take at the 9:13 mark when the priest is talking about the girl that was worked on with a can opener by her mom before being thrown out a plate glass window? What the hell was with that?! It was so weird I wasn't sure I heard correctly, but that's what he said....

I bought one of those Electroman toys from someone at a yard sale when I was a kid in the mid 80s. It was missing the symbol on its chest and the light bulb, and I never really knew what it was called until recently. This is the first time I've actually seen a commercial for it. Looking at it now, its kinda lame, but back then I thought it was pretty neat. I just made up my own name for him.
Also, those Mego toys lasted well into the 80s. I remember having several of them, but my favorite was the Hulk. There is a company called "Figures Toy Company" that is remaking them, though its mainly DC characters only.

I would venture a guess that DC and Marvel didn't have their toys licensed and when Mego had the chance to sign both of them, they did so. Some really nice looking toys from the pictures I've seen even if they only used a handful of bodies to make them.

I had the Marching Mickey. You would squeeze his hands to move his legs. For some reason, the Donald Duck one, doesn't appear to work, the girl couldn't get it to work in the commercial, and I noticed they said it danced instead of walked. It basically the same toy, so I don't understand why the Donald one didn't work.
