As a 7 year old, I loved Battle Star Galactica!
As a 14-year-old girl, I had such a crush on Dirk Benedict.
God commercials were just storyboarded and executed so damn well during this era, almost like like "mini-movies".
Battlestar Galactica, my favorite show back when I was kid. Hard to believe it only lasted 1 season. Thank you SCIF for the Reboot.
I remember that show. It used to come on Sunday nights at 7pm on ABC.
I so wanted that bedroom furniture from Sears when I was a little girl.
I had the desk and hutch. I loved that thing!

The Timex ad with the gorilla was interesting..."Mongo like wristwatch...him suck on it for hours but it just taste like cheap cologne."
The Sony BetaMax was $2,295.00 in 1977 (10,000.79 in today's money). WOW!

I remember the Levi's ad. I thought it was nice that the engine had articulated Mallet (Malley) wheels with dual cylinders. It looks like it may have been taken from a Union Pacific "Big Boy" model.
The only thing I remember about Lucan was the 2 hour pilot movie that was shown all the time on WCBS (locally) and TBS often! The series itself didn't last long.
Love the 4ESS "super switcher" ad.

1:53 - Okay, this guy clearly wins the video. I love how he's dressed like a fast food worker.
We talked about the Levi's train commercial, but I'm afraid this one isn't the one I saw. The one I saw would have been on TV in the early 80s. It was all CG of a train made of Levi's jeans rushing past a country house of some kind. I just remember seeing it when I was very young and it kept saying "Levi's Levi's Levi's Levi's" instead of making a train sound. It was weird, but if you ever come across it, I'd love to see it again. It would be nice to know I didn't just dream that. lol
10:36 - gone are the days when you could feed an ape a watch to sell your product.
I also challenge the statement that the ape put the watch on. His wrist is twice the size of a human.
2:20--What ever happened to Selchow and Righter? We had their version of Parcheesi when I was growing up. If I recall correctly, they specialized in classic board games at that time.
4:17--Pudding in the mix! Pillsbury just isn't what it used to be since it was purchased by General Mills.
10:35--"It takes a licking and keeps on ticking" (Timex) and 11:39--"How does America spell relief? R-O-L-A-I-D-S!" Two of the most iconic advertising slogans from my youth.
13:11--Back when Long John Silver's used "Seafood Shoppe" as part of their branding. There was something I liked about the way their buildings were designed back then, too.
A question of love was hitting those hard themes early.

This would have been the original "Battlestar Galactica" in its original run! It reran on Me TV a couple years ago as part of their Saturday night science fiction block, but I don't think it's currently on their schedule. I believe this rerun package also included the arguably inferior sequel, "Galactica 1980," but it all reran under the "Battlestar Galactica" banner.
