Randy, everyone one does videos on drilling and installing overflow boxes. How about one on drilling and setting bulkhead on aquariums for the return lines I'm sure many customers could use "How To' on that subject matter, and who better than you! Just giving you ideas ... or food for thought :-)
Can the flange side be installed on the inside I’m installing one in a storage bin for a sump and it has groves on the outside that the larger side of the Uniseal won’t fit between
Do you have any suggestions for if these end up with a small drip from the bottom of the uniseal? Not from the pipe, but from the hole the uniseal inserts into. I cut the hole, filed the burs and installed it, added a shut off valve, filled the 5 gallon bucket and let rest for 1 hour, came back and just a VERY small drop of water was hanging and almost big enough to drop. Quite a long time and only a small leak, but I want to be sure I do it correctly, could plumbers putty solve this? Possibly some silicone caulking or gasket maker to help the seal? I don't want to ruin it. I did use a pretty cheap hole cutter, I wonder if it is possibly cutting the hole a micrometer too big and making the seal loose. 1/2" uniseal, 1" 1/4 hole cutter from "Lenox brand" got both on amazon.
Did you ever solve this? I cut a 3 inch hole for a 2 inch pipe as the chart suggests and my uniseal doesn't really seal at all. The curve in the surface is minor so I may just end up using bulk heads which have yet to fail me.
If you chamfer the end of the pipe it will be easier to slide into the Uniseal. Make sure there are no burrs on the pipe, they could nick the Uniseal causing a leak.
I've had my station now for a few years and water is starting to leak from the bottom of the uniseal occasionally...I guess it's time to replace the uniseal..
Did you add that 45d inside the bucket to suck water closer to the bottom and to stop the tube from coming out? I was thinking of going on the bottom but that 45d might work!
Thank You, I will have an external pump connected to the line. What way would be best. put a tube on the bottom with the bucket on cinder blocks or go low on my bucket with the 45 degree pointing down.
I’ve had a lot of trouble installing a 1 1/2” UniSeal. The o.d. of 1 1/2” pvc is 1.9” nearly 2”. I had no info about what size hole saw size to use for this. I finally got it installed when kept enlarging the hole near 2.5” This seamed to me to be too big! Then wrangling a 1.5” pipe thru, which was a pain! At this point, I don’t like Uniseal products. The UniSeal I got had no info to help!
The seals are great invention but what hole size to make to fit in the seals. Say a for a 2inches pipe, we use the 2inches seal but what hole size to make.? Is there a specific hole size required to match the seal size? I have gone through your video a couple of times but no mention of the hole size . Hope you can give some details
Hey! I just added new dry rock to my 10g Nuvo tank. I also started using the Red Sea Coral Pro salt mix. Do you think the elevated levels of calcium and alkalinity will help grow coralline in my tank? I also added some small pieces of live rock with coralline algae on them.
Since plumbing is nominally sized, a 1" uniseal or 1" PVC won't actually be 1". For that reason, it's best to follow the hole size recommendation chart on the Uniseal page of our website 🙂
@@BRStv Hi, I'm sorry I don't understand. My son in law drilled too big of a hole. It's 4 1/2 inside. There are no 4 1/2 pvc pipe. I need to know how to fix this. Can you help me? I need to use this to water my ducks. I'd appreciate it very much. I'm a widowed old grandma with basically no help. I had to beg to get the holes and he couldn't even do that right. Thank you in Advance.
@@mima4392 Yikes! That's a pretty large hole for this. They do make 4" uniseals (which would require a 5" hole), but there isn't a uniseal that will fit into a 4.5" hole. Keep in mind that if you were to drill the hole larger to accommodate 4" PVC plumbing, that would be MUCH larger than what I'd call practical. I'm not sure what type of container you're drilling, but if it's possible to replace the container and drill with a smaller, more appropriately sized hole, I think it will make your life easier in the long run.
Would these you seals be good for an overflow and return on a PVC prefabricated pond? I got one for free on Kijiji for my two Turtles very large adult male red-eared sliders I wanted to use their old 75 gallon aquarium out of the sump but since the edges are rounded I didn't know what to do since fall cats seem like they wouldn't do well on that surface
Nice! I've been wanting to put a spigot on my fresh water Brute can so I didn't have to dunk my top off jug in there. This video is better than the one on your site, BUT this video doesn't mention to use a slip 90 which I think is neat, but I guess you can't put the safety 90 on the inside. *shrug*
Had a few people interested in getting Uniseal in Australia. Here is the link to Uniseal if anyone else finds it useful - www.plumbersbest.com.au/collections/traps/products/uniseal And you can grab the ball valve and pipe to fit with your Uniseal here - www.plumbersbest.com.au/products/pvc-ball-valve-solvent-slip-end www.plumbersbest.com.au/products/pvc-pipe-1
@BOSS MAN Got the same response from a homedepot worker but slightly worse since I'm a girl. He looked at me like I was out of my mind for asking for a bulkhead
How long will these last? I mean, they certainly have to be nice and supple and new when installed. But what about after a few years in use? Incidentally, Randy has stopped yelling. Kinda nice. I bet your sound guy is happy.
These seals are great. Had mine on my water making station for 4 years. They stand up to time as well.
I found coconut oil worked very well as a lubricant. It was also helpful to chamfer the end of the pipe to push through the Uniseal.
I absolutely love these... Prefer over bulkheads when I have to choose.
Always wondered how to do that! 🤔 Thanks BRS
love to see a build of a brute water change setup.
Very cool Randy didn't even know uniseal's existed until now, I've always used bulkhead on my Brute trash cans.

This perfect! Thank you! Building a biofilter for my pond using a 55 gallon barrel.
Where do I find the sizing chart? Great educational viideo. I am developing springs and using blue barrels

Could I use these rubber fittings on my small 7-8 gallon glass fuge I've not long drilled?

will a uniseal work with a garden hose
Uniseals are designed for use with PVC plumbing

Is this good for seal gas???
That's a bit outside of the intended use of this product. We use these unseals with water (or saltwater).

There would be specific hole sizes. You can find these listed on the product page for these Uniseals.
www.bulkreefsupply.com/uniseal-bulkheads.html
Where does one get a uniseal not online? I'll go online but was hoping to find a store that would carry them
We would not know of a local area to pick up uniseal. You could try a local hardware store, but these may not carry them.

Are these as strong and safe as a bulkhead??? Can you use them with regular pvc (40) or flexible pvc? Truly hope you reply 🙂
You can use them with sch 40 or sch 80 pvc. Much more reliable on a curved surface. If you have a flat surface, then a bulkhead is a better option.
@@BRStv ty so much for your reply, i appreciate it 🥰
Do uniseals hold pressure?
While they'll hold a little pressure from the water in the storage bin, I wouldn't suggest pressurizing that storage container.
why wouldn't the flange go on the inside? how does the pressure not pop the uniseal outmm
Great video
This may be a stupid question but why do you use an inch bigger hole saw than the size of the Uniseal?

What size of uniseal do I use for 1” pvc pipe and 2” pvc? Thank you.
The 1" uniseal will accept 1" pvc and the 2" will accept 2" pvc. They're all nominally sized :)

Not sure of expert is the correct word. No home depot or lowes within 20 miles of me has a person that knows what a bulk head is.
