- The Custodes smash their way onto the channel for the first time in a long time, and up against them are the Death Guard. Big shout out to Wolfgang for coming all the way from Austria to make this battle report happen. Legend.

Lot of respect to winters for his lists when goings against guests. An optimised DG list would crush custodes in current meta, but as a true ambassador of the hobby, he goes for fun engaging games.

I feel those failed rolls for charges etc, had similar luck with my guard at WHW on friday. So many bloody failed rolls. HOWEVER, what a glorious army, fun game and wonderful opponent in Wolfgang. Good luck in your crusade, sir!

The most enjoyable battle reports to watch, hands down.
Also, an idea for you to steal if you like, as I also love when things explode:
After rolling for deadly demise (still on 6's) if an explosion occurs, roll again and on a 5+ a critical explosion occurs, adding an extra d3 mortal wounds. Works best when both armies have lots of monsters/vehicles. You can also reverse the numbers, and explode on 5's with a critical explosion on a following 6. Depends if you want more booms or bigger booms.

Playing my second crusade right now. First one I went undefeated with my death guard. Upgraded all terminators with a 9” scout ability. Now I’m playing invasion fleet nids. Most thing have infiltrate. Sticking 10 genestealers in someone’s face on deployment is fun.

Winters you forget so many of your death guard's ability, when the Plagueburst mortar hits an infantry unit they need to make a battle shock test, and when you daemon prince charges into melee, as long as it is the one with wings, the enemy has to make a battleshock test and his melee weapon gets dev wounds after the charge.
Great game and absolutely beautiful armies. I'm always amazed by your grimy death guard paintjob. Also this game mode looks a lot more fun than the usual objective kind of game. The way the custodes were forming battle lines was quite cinematic.
Winters. Grenades are a wonderful thing. Use them!

Those plague marines should have wiped them, but custodes 4+ math can always skew things.

This was a great Battle report.. Very tactical and well fought. I love the Custodes list. Very different and refreshing to see.
Setting up his blightlords on the table instead of deep strike and losing them all before they do anything? Not tactical here.
Crusade is my favourite way to play, but not many others locally do unfortunately.
Winters - you should do a Crusade with a handful of games and teach us all how to play!

The Plagueburst Crawler mortar has a special ability causing battleshock tests on hit vs infantry by the way :). Love the game and the channel.

Crusade is in my opinion the best way to play! We have a 12 man group doing the leviathan crusade currently and are around 15 games in. It definitely makes you more attached to your units as they fight battle after battle. Would highly recommend!

We've been playing Crusade since 9th, and we've got a Crusade Weekend every month (more or less) when we get as many people together as possible and we play all weekend! :D

Death guard list and tactics were set up to fail. Blightlords marching up the table can always be outmaneuvered.
I know Mr Winters is very popular but to travel all the from Australia 🇦🇺 to duff him 🆙 shows incredible dedication.

Sure thing.
Both of them rerol hits of 1 againts monsters/vehicles.
Both weapons have one more attack and damage.
The bladechampion rerolls hits againts characters.
The shieldcaptain has sustained hits 1 in melee and an 6"aura uf -1 leadership.

Crusade is a wonderful method of playing warhammer 40k!! You just reallly need to remember your rules though cuz there’s so many ;p

Random points for objectives is not so good...a bit random no? Better maybe that the first time the Objective is controlled by someone you roll its value in VPs, so that the game can develope by the Objective worth...
its more for narrative purpose...winters does a lot of these. He explained at the start.. its as if your models search the ruins to see if there are important relics inside.
@@NedgeTGC I was talking narratively too, because units are searching for artefacts, and when they find them, they realize their worth and decide whether to fight for them or give priority to those are worth more...
However, always a good game with Winters and his guests...

How are you "nuking" Custodes with boltguns? At best they're inconvenienced, unless you were referring to putting them in a microwave or something?
'Nuking' is highly excessive for "just barely managing to take off the table" don't you think?
