I don't know bout how balanced will this expansion be but, I really, really, really, really love the artwork on these cards bro. it's like, the best we ever got
The scarriest part isn't even Maladaar. It's the fact that you could play 3 of them in a game because of the Astral Vigilant being able to copy him for 1 mana. And Maladaar can be discovered too. I doubt Vigilant isn't gonna be nerfed fast.
You need a ton of corpses to do this however, and while you *can* generate 20+ corpses in a game, it takes a while to do that, which makes this less impactful at higher tiers of play where games last barely 8 turns
@@Optymystical He also comes out pretty late, so he doesn't seem all that scary - like turn 5-6, you're unlikely to have 10 corpses that early - so at best he's like a 0 mana 5/5 in the early game, and maybe you'll get a decent 4-8mana card out with it. - which is just... 'okay' - like if you compare it to stuff like molten/mountain giants from warlock or the mana cheat in big spell mage, or even some of the mana cheat in druid - moreso some of the titans out there - I just can't see it breaking the game when compared to everything else out there right now. Playing it late doesn't seem crazy either, like 6 mana for a free 5/5 and a 10 cost card from hand... Like it's good, will def be played - but he certainly doesn't win games on his own.
Wouldn't astral vigilant just be a garbage 1 drop that isn't progressing your gameplan until you draw and play maladaar tho? And wouldn't it be hard to have the corpses to use bc you drew astral vigilant instead of something that gives you corpses? All assuming you even draw maladaar at an impactful time
1. The artwork for this expansion has just consistently been S tier. Arguibly some of the best artwork we've ever gotten. 2. Maladaar is probably going to be one of the best cards DK has *ever gotten* The sheer amount of tempo it gives can be insane even outside of Rainbow. 3. Airlock Breach is the mandatory Rainbow support, but at least its as fun as it is strong.
I do appreciate that they clearly learned their lesson from Hydration Station and had Wakener of Souls seemingly *exclude itself* from its own resurrection pool.

So, demonhunters starship is slow, but the rush with windfury and giving other minions attack along with the summon pirates out of your ass location gives combo demonhunter a lateish finisher. I can't see any DH player pulling this off because smorc brain, but it is a thing. They keep trying to make slower DH a thing, but the whole point of DH is draw+damage+smorc so they can't really, if they ever actually make mid DH viable it'd dominate which would suck. Oh blizzard you silly pervy boys.
They made Lifesteal DH and even when DH had a fairly normal deck Rarran still hated it. There's no help. DH can get 1 card printed an expansion for 2 years h but if they need to get nerfed once that's too far.
Its a shame they didnt reuse the collosal keyword would be cool for certain starships as in You could have a collosal starship piece that summons the adventurers or something and if you put it on the starship it would like be empowered so you would play the starship and it would fill the board with the adventurers or etc. would be cool + fit the theme + Collosal keyword is the best (Ofc it could be played around in more ways like have certain ships be larger than just 1 and have them split into several parts and etc.
I feel like DK is just going to be rainbow with all cheap aggro except for blowing up both players decks, then play titan, hellya, and necrotic explosion. You could even make it a Reno deck to prevent your opponent from having any big boards/starships after you blow up the deck
The 8 hands from beyond is bbbbad lmao You basically tune your opponents deck on their turn, like wtf. You lose tempo and guarantee that they draw into their end game. Even if it comes down on turn 8, it’s your whole turn. People have Ticketius goggles on.
I think in terms of control vs control matchups you’re absolutely right, but if you can cheat it out fast enough against aggro or tempo decks you can kinda just ruin their day.

Isn't 8hands just steam cleaner for all intents and purposes? Would not be mad at all to put it into ETC. Bit late against aggro, sure. But there would be some neat tricks with marin, the odin giants and other stuff that tires to put you above the enemy in terms of "what's left after". The two red hurt a bit, though.
Suffocate pairs perfectly with Caress in a tourist DK. You can kill 2 big minions deal 6 to opponents face (due to fire and shadow spells) after you used suffocate the previous turn.
I could see that 8 mana legendary as a couter to highlander warrior and plague dh but also as something to at times solidify your late game I will definetly try to make it work with my triple blood decks although if this in any moment ends up being good it would create similar situation like with boomboss and ticketus at least thats what im at the same time afraid of Anyways thats just my take on it

I feel like crewmates and Dirdra are actually kind of bad since she shuffles a bunch of arguably bad cards into the deck that you draw individually. So unless you have a way of drawing a bunch to play together, you're diluting your deck with dumb 4/4s with a single ability each unless you draw them back to back.
Forgive me, but I’m really not seeing what Exarch Maladaar exists to do. Like, I get the goal of cheat out big thing, but turn 6 CNE really isn’t very good, and I don’t feel like turn 6 Scourge is good enough either. There’s the new 10 mana minion, I suppose, but there’s no good deathrattles I would really want that guy rezzing for me, at least none which I’d be playing before turn 6. Like, genuinely, I agree the effect is powerful, but I don’t think Death Knight has any payoffs to fire off with Maladaar at the moment. This isn’t like Mage where it had Tsunami and was just waiting for a way to use it early, Death Knight just doesn’t have that explosive high end at the moment.
The "corpse cheat" of Exarch counts for the scaling on CNE so you get 10+ however many youve spent before this. Probably not enough on turn 6 still but it juices the CNE pretty good.

8hands is the death knell of infinite decks (plague dk, wishing well rogue, amalgam), perma splash it into a control deck as a one-of in highlander and you have reno value while they have nothing but tech cards
The Exarch is going right into Even DK. Lots of tempo and easy 8 corpses by turn 6 to cheat out The Primus/Marrowgar, even a Gnome Muncher or Sylvanas is great along side this. Worst case you get a "free" 4 drop.

Isn't that card basically the same as the furry Mage mana cheat? One requires you to have a coin and is useless off curves. I don't see it getting this much play without the tourist keyword. One is required to have corpses, ( which is quite hard to get to 10 in 6 turns ) and functions as a zero/-4 mana 5/5 in the late game ( which isn't that good, I can almost guarantee you if there's a minion that reads cost zero if you have 10 mana crystal. It won't see any play.) I think people are overrating this card.
Its not only Reno or Yogg... its Reska, Aman Thuul, Sargarus.... theres too much poof effects im afraid starships are tricky to play... you have to play it really in the right spot, you cant just launch it and have fun..
Exarch Maladar is not THAT broken. Some of the best new cards for Death Knight USE a lot of corpses. And there have been no less than three cards printed that said "cards" cost ______ instead of mana. If there is a new card that costs 8+ and is mega-broken if played early, then this changes.
So they printed a choose one legendary for druid but only printed 1 choose one card sickkkkkkkkkkkk they also only made the starship thing because of zilliax and how much he was liked even though he's a nightmare to face
8 Hands is necessary for the archetype of x3 blood, but the card isn't even x3 blood... Basicly the idea is that blood wants to play that type of attrition of old hs but that just doesn't exist anymore... and rainbow just out discovers and has more payoff cards in general.. Now this card isn't soo powerful, but im so glad blizzard is experimenting with this style of deck again, since it's my favourite archetype I think this card will for sure have it's decks, but I don't think this is SS tier ofcourse, I'm glad enough if such a deck can make tier 2 or 3 anyways!
I love Yogg and have defended Reno in the past but I think its time to bring back Hall of Faming cards and just get them outta here. It sure seems like they are trying to lower power levels this year and slow the game down a bit, but having two huge neutral bombs really messes with that plan.

let’s you play primus, zilliax, exodar, reno, Velen, etc earlier. Even if not earlier, can play more stuff on your swing turn as well. Pretty solid
