@@johnmeier1 I was thinking the same thing, but if he grabbed the bat, they would've cast the stoke in response. Still, I think the 1/1 flying lifelinker as a blocker would've been a bit better
Yeah, I really want to know why he scooped when he had two blockers. Maybe he thought the two enemy Otter tokens were Elusive? (also love your content Seth, don't take this nitpicking personally!)
This is such a cool deck build! One suggestion I have would be adding the instant speed reanimation they added in duskmourn: live or die. Then, you can let you opponent go to end step, then bring Valgovoth back with basically no summoning sickness
Yeah, I think what reanimation to play is an interesting question for the deck. Initially I had Live or Die, but since Cache Grab can find permanents I decided to go with all reanimation that we can Cache Grab for, although it could be incorrect.
Honestly I think it's just from that general theme of "if you say [creature]'s name 3 times, [creature] will be summoned." Bloody Mary is one of the oldest kinds of that legend though, so it might all originate from that
@@Kringly9 Thank you, good sir, I thought that my first pick on the folklore story/fairytale of (Martinko Klingáčik which is definitely another reinvention of a German fairytale, and yet it is) Rumpelstilzchen is an older one, but a potential origin based on 1516-1558, Mary I of England is definitely older than the Grimms's book. I think he thought Elusive Otter just had straight up unblockable. I feel like Seth was off his game for this video, also early scooping with at least six outs to Boros Convoke in the last game, and scooping early to Otters in the game you mentioned.
This is the younger brother's MadCatz controller version of an Atraxa reanimation deck but that's exactly the kind of decks I come to mtggoldfish to watch.
11:15 : Opponent didn't have lethal here, did they? Because Vraska was compleated, so she would only come in with 4*2 loyalty, not enough to ultimate, am I right? EDIT: actually as someone mentionned in response, both replacement effects (compleated and the counter doubling of the enchantment) can be ordered as the owner wills (either -2 loyalty THEN *2 OR *2 loyalty THEN -2). So Seth actually WAS dead...If opponent doesn't punt :p
Yeah I swear that was a salt scoop, that was so winnable. Vraska had to -2 the Altanak and then if Seth drew a land the treasure could be sacrificed to hard cast Valgavoth. It was going to be a win in Seth's book.
I think say its name is a bloody marry reference not a beetle juice reference. Just because the card art had the person looking in what looks to be a mirror 35:56
It makes me laugh so hard how absolutely every creator i watch refuses to say Bloody Mary despite the mirror in the cards art and instead goes with Beetlejuice. 😂😂😂
No, it’s because Bloody Mary is real. In fact, I even had an experience after saying, “Bloody Mary” into my bathroom mirror three times when I was young. Everyone is just scared of saying Bloody Ma- oh whoa now! I almost did it again!! Not today, Satan!
Not exactly super budget, but Overlord of the Balemurk is a great addition in reanimation decks running Valgavoth's faithful. Would love to see this kind of deck fit in a few.
I think in that game you scooped Vraska would’ve entered with 8 counters not 12, and therefore wouldn’t have ultimated. Unless there’s weird layer effects from the Compleated planeswalker and innkeepers talent so that she enters with 10.
37:45 why can't you block the elusive otter? It says less than it's power not equal to or less than, you could block otter and use triumph for the token no?

Wrong. It works with Phyrexian Vraska. It's two replacement effects, owner chooses the order, so they can choose the order that results in more counters. They double, then remove 2 counters.
this is incorrect, with a max innkeepers talent and the compleated cost being paid you choose the order of how the counters are added and substracted as part of entering the battle field. one says it enters doubled and one says enters with 2 fewer. so you have the doubling season effect hit first going from 6 to 12 then minus the 2 for the compleated cost, vraska will be at 10 counters which is enough to ult right away. yes that is how that works.
