Each week people complain about Jack Tame's interviewing. That's their prerogative. Personally, I am in favour of an interviewer asking pertinent questions to help inform my view. A minister simply needs to answer the questions asked to avoid being interrupted by Jack Tame, otherwise all we are getting is 'political talking points'. If i wanted a party political broadcast I would go to a town hall meeting, visit the many channels on TH-cam that promote a particular agenda, or visit the political party web sites. A role of our 'fourth estate' is to hold our politicians accountable. My view is that Q n A does this regardless of political affiliation.
you're so right but nevertheless people will keep complaining about "woke" jack tame being biased simply because he holds our elected leaders accountable
Question and answer is the most reliable and truthful news source these days. - unless you put a fuck ton of effort into research and fact checking to find the truth. but that's what jack tame does for a living, and him having the authority to ask these questions means average people can gain insight to what actually happens in our government. we can also tell when politicians dodge questions. - which is helpful because we can then tell which politicians to trust and can make our own decision to vote for politicians who have more sense (and less money) behind their political decisions. if this Q and A goes away, that's my litmus test for if "New Zealand's democracy is fucked"

@bernardpullon4632, I’m totally with you! The idea that we can control the climate seems pretty out there when you look at the evidence. Here are some key points on heatwaves and climate change: Heatwaves Today vs. 20th Century: Data shows that heatwaves are less severe and less frequent now compared to the early 20th century, especially the 1930s. Historical Temperature Records: Most states set their all-time high temperature records in the first half of the 1900s, particularly around the 1930s. Modern Temperature Data: NOAA’s nationwide temperature network, which started in 2005, shows no sustained increase in daily high temperatures over nearly 20 years. Warming Trends: Recent warming mostly happens during winter, at night, and near the poles. Natural Heatwave Occurrence: Heatwaves are a natural part of the US climate, especially in regions like the humid South and the hot deserts of the Southwest. 1930s Heatwave Spike: The 1930s saw a significant spike in heatwaves, but recent heatwave frequency and intensity are within normal ranges. Record Temperatures: More than half of US states set their all-time high temperature records in the 1930s. More records were set between 1900-1920 than between 2000-2020, despite cooler global temperatures back then. Regarding methane: Methane's Minor Impact: Methane’s effect on global warming is much smaller compared to CO2, even though it's often highlighted in climate discussions. Natural Methane Sources: Methane comes from natural sources like cattle, termites, and rice paddies. It's been part of our ecosystem for centuries. Regulation Effects: Stringent methane regulations would have a minimal impact on global temperatures, making them seem disproportionate to their actual effect. In summary, the focus on regulating CO2 and methane might not be as impactful as addressing other environmental issues. The role of natural factors like solar and volcanic activity in climate change is often downplayed, leading to an overemphasis on human impacts.
@@jessedykstra4005 Ah, human waste-the unwelcome guest that never leaves the party. While water vapor is the main act in the greenhouse gas show and CO2 is the veteran rocker with millions of years of hits, human waste is the backstage roadie making a mess of everything. Sure, CO2 has been on a roller coaster ride, swinging wildly over the last 600 million years with average levels at 2,600 ppm compared to today’s modest 400 ppm. It’s just part of Earth’s natural jam session. Meanwhile, methane is the flashy star with a higher radiative forcing effect but makes only a cameo appearance, contributing just a tenth of CO2’s impact. Regulations keep this diva in check, especially since our waste is busy belching methane from landfills and sewage plants. But the real villain? Toxic waste. Heavy metals, industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and household hazards are the rogues wrecking our cities. Good waste management can be our superhero, reducing pollution, curbing disease, and making life better.

CO2 or methane (that is largely beyond our control, except in the case of Nordstream) levels or poisoned water and land? The fact is that 'emissions' from cities (including human waste) is a far greater threat to the majority of people, and yet Jack wants to talk about cattle. Hot air all round.
New Zealand is one of the world's top emitters of methane per capita. It's mostly from agriculture.
@bernardpullon4632, I’m totally with you! The idea that we can control the climate seems pretty out there when you look at the evidence. Here are some key points on heatwaves and climate change:
Heatwaves Today vs.
Regarding methane:
Methane's Minor Impact: Methane’s effect on global warming is much smaller compared to CO2, even though it's often highlighted in climate discussions.
" The fact is that 'emissions' from cities (including human waste) is a far greater threat to the majority of people"
Got anything to back that up?
Good interview jack, young people are going to pay the costs, a high price in the future when our economy will be underpin by different factors. If only back in 2024 they could have recognised, protected and fostered what was truly important.

Missing our emissions targets is orders of magnitude more costly to the economy. Not meeting our Paris 2015 targets will cost us billions. The extreme weather events coming our way will cost even more.
Rubbish - it's our need for growth that is leveraged on cheap energy that is the root of the problem. We need to decarbonise and move to electricity as quickly as possible - but these guys just focus on short-term profits and doing their sponsor's bidding.
They don't care about anything else, obviously.
There is no economy without an environment. Period.
Do you understand that economic matters will be hugely effected by international relations? People who benifit from 100 years ago money need to stop making decisions for the most of us! Why? Because they are not smart or fooling anyone! Landlord support and now agriculture support while save save save and trying to drill. Get those Neanderthal ways out of here mate! No one wants to be like England
Your bias shines through. Many great questions but your belligerence embarrasses you. Time for a style change.
Jack, I paid for my EV. I find your insistence on pushing your own agenda annoying and distracting.
I guess you are paid on the number of gotcha’s you can create.
Just be a journalist and if you cannot handle that go look for a shock-jock job.
Did you get the Clean Car Discount?
@@pwollerman no.
But the fact that I did not have to pay road user charges was cool.
Now the economical benefits that I was looking for are a lot less. But that is how it goes. I still benefit from owning the car. Use it nearly 97% of the time.
I would have taken the subsidy if it was available when I bought the car.
But I never thought giving tax money to wealthy people was a good idea when there are so many people with real needs.
Jack Tame happens to be Political Journalist of the Year at the 2024 Voyager Media Awards, so he is unlikely to go anywhere else anytime soon.
@@grantchin1526 that says everything…!
lol....
I won't watch this purely because I don't like the interviewer.
Yeah, I wouldn't even tune in on a Sunday if I knew he was going to be host. Oh, wait ...
So you don't like accountability then?
Maybe you would be happier sticking to Mike Hosking...
Bye
Don`t watch lefty , woke , interupting Tame any more
What does woke mean, champ?
Bye
Mr Gotcha. Jack you have made up your mind and you are controlling the ministers narrative by butting in all the time not allowing him to explain fully. Very disrespectful. Yes ask challenging questions but let the man speak.
He's letting him speak he's just stopping him from going on a journey off topic to get to the answer.
@@Benjamin-v3kNot even close but we can agree to differ. I want to hear what the guy has to say not just hear Jacks questions that he already has the answer for.
Almost unwatchable. Jack badgers, interrupts and pushes his own agenda. Time to go back to journalism school Jack
Who would be better - Mike Hosking is very neutral?
@@pwollerman it's doesn't matter who. The interviewing technique is what matters.
He interrupts and pushes because the minister is failing to answer his simple questions… it’s called holding the government to account…
@@alexrees7652 he does it to everyone. It's his style regardless of the guest. It's not journalism
@jamesmartin4500 I agree. Jack wouldn't get away with his arrogant interviewing approach with Winston or David Seymour.
Paris targets can go to Hell this NZ not Paris
Jack, you need head out to south east Asia.
Why would he need to do that? It's new Zealand issues not Asia issues
@@Benjamin-v3kclimate change is New Zealand issue? I don’t think so.
Nothing we do will change anything
@@vicipiz Ok ostrich stick your head in the sand.
Better to be realistic about the climate goals, rather than pouring money into something that is unachievable. We could also resort to the greens/labours solution; create another tax that’s going to reduce earths temperatures 😂
I could not give a damn about the emissions targets..
You'll give a damn when we have to pay billions for missing them in 2030.
