NO MIRACLE - NO FLUKE - Let's give our 1980 U.S.A.Men's Olympic Team credit already ! wtf _ Every player had talent - That is a put down when they called the game the " Miracle On Ice " - Our 1980 U.S.A. Men's hockey team was great - and do not ever forget they also beat a few teams that 1980 winter olympics - Including the Finland team to win the Gold Medal - !
I couldn't agree more. So many players on that team had great careers in the NHL. Morrow won 4 cups, Ramsey played 17 years, Broten, Pavelich, the list goes on and on.
Oh gosh. Totally, totally EARNED. But there was no comparison between the talent of the Americans and that of the Soviets. Many of the USA players (including Eruzione) ddi practically nothing professionally. These Soviets beat the NHL All-Stars, had won every Olympic gold medal since 1960. This USA gold medal was the ultimate testament to a truly amazing coach and a wonderful (unmatched) collective effort. A bunch of amateurs against a team of world class pros. I look at the "Miracle" as the supreme compliment in recognition of the greatest sporting event of my lifetime. (Btw, I know your comment is meant with fullest admiration for the USA team. I just think you're overstating their talent and understating how inexplicable this win was...on paper.)
Thanks for posting the greatest documentary ever
