One of the best information rich genuine art shows I have ever seen Congratulations and thank Realness is so very rare in the art world and it is badly needed Well done
He disfrutado muchísimo tu vídeo! I've enjoyed watching your explanations, your way of talking, the angels! Thanks National Gallery for sharing, teaching and giving us fresh air
Lovely presentation thank you. I always think that the angels depicted in the donors picture with realistic faces were 'important' people in the donors city and were no doubt grateful to be so elevated and probably gave favours in return!
Thank you so much for making this content. It is not always easy to find educational art history videos appropriate for grade school aged students attending a Catholic school. This will be perfect to share with them.
Regarding halo’s on Angel’s 👼 is, they don’t have a gold 👼 but it represents the white light that surrounds them. They used that to represent the light, it’s the white light of the Holy Spirit. Truth. Our guardian angels don’t have the light behind them, they look like us. ✌️♥️🙏👼🦋
wow, all these are at the National Gallery? 😊 thanks for pointing them out. it's really nice when someone explains things that otherwise one might have missed....
Sliding back and forward across the painting left me with motion sickness. A great shame as I loved this essay that was wonderfully well thought out and presented by a thoroughly engaging and charming speaker. Perhaps you would consider simply showing the details discussed just to help those of us with ludicrously sensitive stomachs?
June Grainger Hello June, I have since found out I actually have Vertigo, maybe you should get yourself checked out? I have been referred to a consultant because it can be very serious and have a terrible impact on your life.
You can get a "curated" view of angels by reading the Bible. It's "curated" because the Paulinist/Lukist faction at the Council of Nicaea in 325AD declared all the angels of which they disapproved to be persona non grata. But you can still see these angels if you look hard enough. All you have to do is read the works of Pelagius and Arius. There is more under Heaven and Earth than dreamt of in your philosophy, Horatio. Or something like that.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you Joost, a beautiful and thoughtful selection of artworks. It was wonderful to be whisked away to the realm of angels for 10 minutes!
Fascinating and so very well presented!! Would enjoy seeing a second presentation by the same presenter. Thank you.
Great! I really enjoyed his voice, descriptions and storytelling! Thank you very much :)
Thank you very much, Joost, for such a great and informative talk!

I do not get the contemporary piece of art, but all the others are terrific, great selection
9:47 Maybe moth's wings? Maybe it symbolizes how the devil is still drawn toward the light of God even while in the darkness outside of heaven.
that's a fantastic interpretation
This is wonderful! Thank you!
Angels - my favourite subject for painting in egg tempera on gesso panels :-)
Love the Lippi painting.
Thanks for a great presentation! Makes me wonder if angels prefer to be depicted as adult humans, chubby baby humans, or polka dots lol.
Thank you SO much. I am feeling fluttery.
Magnifique, congrats!
Excelente presentación Sr Joustra, necesitamos también una decodificación complementaria sobre demonios
Love this series!
Interesting video thanks.
Merci.

Bridget’s representations is of Orb’s. The lighter the better, some twinkle like stars, some are white, but the dark ones are bad.
