Gypsy Jazz is just so rich of a sound. I love it. I've subscribed to this channel about a decade now when the first Rockabilly lessons were uploaded. Best Guitar tutorials on TH-cam! Top Notch.
During the quarantine I have been all over youtube. These are hands down the best Freddie Greene lessons. Thank you. I think I have posted a thousand times all over your videos that I bought a big fat Kay archtop because of you!
amazing. you are the only guy who actually makes the videos informative rather than "look at me showboating to you noobs over the internet" or "I'm just gonna talk and not actually play anything" or "I suck at video editing and my information is not in a coherent linear fashion..." A BIG thank you for putting up the chord charts. Thank you so much!
Long ago I saw an episode of Sanford & Son and it guest starred Scatman Crothers. They did an amazing version of this with Red Foxx singing. Your version is exactly what they played (in style) and I thank you for putting this lesson out. My wife and I will be adding this version to our acoustic duo set list. Cheers!
GREAT ! Like your videos, short, concise and just enough info to make me pick up my dusty guitar and try a few licks before I return it to it's corner of spiders and webs in my sunny home in Sarasota Florida.
Hey D.. wasn't sure what to make of you when I found your stuff but you are seriously a cool cat. Keep being you. I appreciate your dedication and enthusiasm teaching. Your love for the music shows
Thank you, and I love your happy lessons. I have been playing fingerstyle country, rock, blues, folk, and reggae for most of my life. Recently covered That's Alright Mamma, and got hopelessly hooked on slapback!! You are helping me so much, dear fellow!
Loved this lesson. I'm just dabbling in a little jazz standards and your lesson laid a nice foundation. Really great explanations and chord charts were a super help! Thank You!
Expertly demonstrated....you are a natural instructor. Enjoyed that clearly voiced singalong as well, helps anyone not familiar with the song to get a great feel of where the expressions fit in.
@@Damianblf not at all, Mr. Bacci. I am just a brazilian person that love jazz and gypsy jazz too. Thank you. And sorry because I write in english thinking in portugueese.
Damian Love the lesson because you put it out there . Seems like every time I see you , your appearance is a little different . LoL But it’s still you ! ( All of Me )
Very cool of you man to show these awesome songs and chords. I do like rockabilly but these western swing things just fill me with awe. Thanks for teaching!
Marvellous, brilliant sound and very well explained. What about a meeting with clarinet - gigant Martin Schmidt-Hahn ? All of me is one of his favourites on clarinet and soprano sax
Thanks Damian. I have just discovered your Chanel and subscribed. As well as teaching all that I love in the guitar I also feel truly humbled that with a world full of hate and animosity their are true humans like yourself that create the time to divulge their love of the magnificence of music
Thanks man, very clean chords and singing lines, started to grow my jazz chords with your video, kind regards from portugal. Great song by the way, im here because of the Eric Clapton vertion.
Fantastico Damian! You are the Best! Complimenti come musicista chitarrista e per la tua simpatia! Un caro saluto e un abbraccio da Trento ( ITALIA ) 👍💙🎸🎼🎙
Hey! Just found your channel! I love country, swing, hardcore, punk and jump/rocknroll! I think you are just the cat I’m looking for very cool lessons man. Rad.
I got the chords pretty easy. I had a lot of trouble strumming the rhythm. Watched this vid slow and fast. Finally I just dropped my pick and practiced thumb picking it until my i could naturally kind of flick my thumb just right. That little kick of down up down up just before chord change makes this sound so unique. Still working on my speed, but thank you Damian!
Great lesson... I’m proud and like to figure stuff by ear but I’m also having medical problems. Trouble sitting. Some trouble playing with arthritic feelings. I started to figure out the song chords from singing the song. The cords. Just basic block chords for the verse. Then tried the Frank Sinatra version. Then I decided to swallow my pride and just check out a lesson. I’m going to take it in small portions until I can start to get it down at my own pace. Again thanks a lot.
@@Damianblf If you ever find the time, could you do an in depth video on gyspy strumming, how to hold the pick and all? There are a lot of guides on yt, but none go step by step and slow it down, and nobody's performing for me to see it in person :(
Another great lesson! LOVE these Damian. Great standards with great rhythms and great chord progressions. So fun to play. Please keep doing more of these. THANK YOU! I bought your latest jump blues guitar course a few weeks ago. Love it. Come to think of it I own all of your courses.
Hi XLBiker13 I'm stoked to hear that you've been digging these lessons. I have a lot of fun doing them. Thanks so much for all your support throughout the years. I really appreciate it. Keep on rockin' DAMIAN :)
This is a really interesting approach to the "La Pompe technique." In your case you are flying against all the wisdom of the gypsy players I have been listening to who use full chords (all 6 strings in the voicings). You use only 4 strings, leaving the b and high e out of it all together. And yet, it sounds really, really fine this way. I worked on your version for an hour yesterday and will work on it again today till I get your sound. I am trying to finally really get my teeth into that chunk, chunk, chunk style of rhythm playing and its deceptively difficult to sell the rhythm. It has to be very, very consistent and there is a lot more in accents and emphasis and left hand pumping motion than meets the eye. This looks easy, you make it look easy, but its not at all easy for me to replicate your sound. I love your guitar by the way its the perfect chunk chunk chunk guitar.
Thank you. It's good to hear and see all those interesting chord inversions that are certainly endless. For some reasons this D7 at 3:36 doesn't sound right to my ears.Must it be minor ? Or is Bluesy stuff,- Minor/major friction ?
