LOVELY CARDS!! And thx for sharing about Yana! I have been following her for years and have been looking for you tube video's daily from her to be sure she is OK! I feel like she is my dear friend!
Beautiful cards! Love my Glimmer machine and learned how to use it by watching Yana’s video’s. She is a master at it and I have been praying for her and all of Ukraine an will continue to daily 🙏🏻🇺🇦
I’ve been following yana. I am heartbroken for her and her family and country. She is so positive considering the hell she’s going through. Hearing her cry on TH-cam last week explaining the war made me sob! I will keep praying for sure! Beautiful cards.
Beautiful cards but I am so touched about your story of Yana. I do not know her and did not come across her on social media until a few months ago. But having followed you for a few years, I feel that I now “know” Yana a bit better. Your description is exactly how I imagined her to be. She seems to be so beautiful inside and out! And I feel personal about this war as well! That’s all I’ll say about that. I know I haven’t personally met you either but feel like if/when I ever meet you in person, you would be the Kelly that I know and love - she is the same to me!
Beautiful cards - the hot foil plates are awesome, loved how you colored them! I used your affiliate link to pick them up (shhh, I might have thrown in a couple other items). Thanks so much for the link to Yana’s blog. I emailed her friend from Spellbinders to get more info about helping Ukraine. Even small amounts can hopefully add up to meaningful help. I hope the multitude of prayers and good thoughts coming their way helps buoy their spirits in this hellish situation. I can’t even begin to imagine.
I’ve avoided all foiling…..I have so many supplies that I just couldn’t invest in another system. But your cards are beautiful! Although I’ve never met Yana, I’ve watched her for years and I cry every time we hear from her. It’s unimaginable what she and her country are going through. Praying for her every day.
Very pretty cards. I've been following Yana for years now and really love her design style. I saw a photo she recently posted and it pained me to see how tired she looked. I can't begin imagine what she is going through. My family left Cuba in 1970 when I was 6 for a chance at a better life, it wasn't in the middle of a war, but it was with just the clothes on our backs and I grew up hearing stories about how difficult life was there for my parents. Freedom should never be taken for granted. BACK TO THE CARD... I can always count on you to tell it like it is. I was thinking that foiling would give me the same as results as embossing. Yes/no?
similar but not the same. Embossing is raised where the foiling is actually pressed into the cardstock slightly. It's much easier to get a solid look with the foiling and it is a lot more reflective.
👋 i hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness prosperity love and peace 💞❤️🕊️all over the world 🙏🌍 I'm originally from Canada currently living in Key West Florida and you where are you from if i may ask?
Foiling isn’t my jam, but it was interesting to see how it’s done. Thanks for sharing your card and your connection with Yana. My heart aches for the people of Ukraine.
Beautiful cards! I knew you would like the Glimmer Machine!!! I have had lots of luck with the Hammermill 100lb. paper! It works best for me! Continued prayers for Yana and Ukraine 💙💛
Beautiful cards, Kelly, as always. I am resisting the glimmer machine not only because of the expense but I also don't have a craft room so storage is an issue, but loved seeing your cards and process. And thank you for not discussing politics, I appreciate it. Politics is all around everything and it is nice to have a card making escape. We are definitely praying for Ukraine and will now add prayers for Yana and her family specifically.
Kelly, i didn't cover an area with paper where I didn't cut down the foil and it adhered to my plate. Use nail polish remover, no oils, conditioner etc, plain old fashioned remover. It cleans it right up. Beautiful cards.
My heart breaks for everyone over there. I have watched Yana and follow her I wish there was a way to meet all the people who have played a huge roll in the crafting industry! Political views are different from person to person! I went to school for political science well was it worth it I learned a lot but ended up wrapped up in having to care for my own special needs child over the years want to talk politics there is a subject lol been at it for 22 years. Our church has asked for supplies that are being sent! I will actively look at the site you recommend! I truly hope they come out with a stamp set that will support Yana and everyone that would benefit from it I would buy it in a split second!!! God Bless will continue to keep them in my prayers!
Thanks for sharing your "experiments"with the foiling machine. I also got one for myself for Christmas and I've yet to get it out -- I was down for the count with the 19 flu, despite every precaution known to man or woman, for all of January.... the Lord works in mysterious ways! I am also a long time fan of Yana, and being from DC, politics was and is local news, so I'm used people talking about it -- civilly. Thanks for sharing her story with everyone!
What a beautiful card...as usual! I'm a follower of Yana's and she is an incredibly talented crafter. My heart simply breaks into a million pieces for her and her country and fellow Ukrainian's. To see the death and destruction is so evil and cruel and simply senseless. I'm sorry...I'll get off my rant, but this is so sad. My heart and thoughts and prayers are with Yana and a friend has added her to their church prayer list. I pray this all ends soon and they are able to eventually rebuild their country. Unfortunately, the lives lost will never be replaced. PRAYERS FOR YANA AND UKRAINE!!! 💙💛
My heart hurts for the people of Ukraine, I knew of crafters in that area and familiar with Yana, love her designs you used, hopefully a craft company will create a set for the proceeds to help the Ukrainian people, I know myself and many others would support it! Thanks for sharing your glimmer foil process, I got one for Christmas as well and love the look of foiling..
A few tips for you If you use acetone which is basically nail polish remover that has no conditioner or anything extra, it will remove the foil off your milky plate. Also after you have used your machine in your die cutting machine and know that you need both of those shims to foil (clear and milky shim) you can tape them together and then to the side of your machine. Heat safe tape by cricut is recommended. You get like a hinged door. This makes your foiling so much easier. No shifting after you place it exactly where you want it and then putting the platform over into your die machine. This has caused so much extra work for me. Then the over foil. If it's at a top corner on your page, it's no big deal to cut it away or use the mono sand eraser. However if you get foil between the letters in a word for example. Then the sand eraser would dull your foil if you use it. So we have discovered that if you take some washi tape and run it around the tip of your finger, sticky side out, like a thimble. Taping on the words with foil between the letters it removes only the extra foil without any effects on the foil. These are massive tips and after many many hours of foiling, have been discovered. Waste foil, say you foil a beautiful sentiment and after you have this square of foil with just the letters missing. You can lay that on a toner sheet and run it through your HOT laminator, or a Minc machine, and you have a second sentiment for next time. There is a company in Australia called Crafty Critta that sells many different toner sheets in various colors. Which gives you incredible sentiments from the waste foil. Just enclose them in a piece of copy paper folded in half and feed it into the machine where the fold is. No chance of anything getting separated inside the machine to lead to a paper jam etc. It is wonderful to be able to share something with you for a change. I normally look to you as the expert in crafting. This time I just have a leg up from time and knowledgeable friends. I hope this helps you. Yana is amazing and remains in my prayers. I have made 8 cards for Ukraine and shared the humanitarian efforts with all my friends. XO
Also Hammermill color copy cover in the 90lb is the optimum paper for foiling. A bit hard to find right now, but definitely worth it. I had to get 65lb last and 17x11 sheets. I just cut it in half for regular size paper.
Thank you Karla for supplying these tips! The one about the washi tape to pick up over foiling in tight places was news to me and I’m very excited about it!
You can get the foil off the glimmer plate with fingernail polish remover. the purer the better. I am fairly new to Glimmer, but a long time Minc user. I have been using Hamilco semi gloss. I quite like it.
Pretty colours and foiling always “kicks it up a notch” = lovely cards! I am praying for Yana and the Ukrainian people and dealing with my own anger at what I see on T.V. ❤️🇨🇦🙏🇺🇦
Yana, Svetlana, fervent prayers--you got it. I've been very involved w Ukraine's bravery & plight. This invasion is breaking my heart while strengthening my faith; God is truly needed every hour. They're a superb people and deserve peace. Beautiful cards.
I’m wondering if your stuff shifted taking the platform off the dock…..it’s a snug fit and I’ve heard others say they don’t put the plates on until they undock the platform to avoid the paper and foil from shifting
She's still creating. She was doing lives in her Facebook group once or twice a week but her craft room flooded so it had to be gutted and redone. Hopefully she'll have a new release soon!
I’m just getting to work with mine and I’ve had it a year… but I find it frustrating because I don’t get it as easy as most crafters I watch. Yana & Olga D. are two that I follow & have been praying for since all this horror started for them
I have a Gemini Foil Press; I bought it because I already had a Gemini Jr. I prefer the Spellbinders hot foil dies because they seem to leave a somewhat deeper impression than the Crafter’s Companion dies. I’ve bought both Spellbinders and Crafters Companion foil. I love the colors of the Spellbinders foil unfortunately , I can’t seem to find the right combination of temperature, time, and/or sandwich to get a good result with the Spellbinders foil. I don’t think the platforms make the difference, it’s got to be something related to the foil itself. Any suggestions ? What time/temperature does the Glimmer system recommend when using a medium sized foil die ? Thanks for any suggestions. God bless the Ukraine. ❤️
@@KellyTaylorCards - interesting, the Foil Press has a temperature setting and a timer. I guess it’s going to take more trial and error; I just hate wasting foil. 🙁 Thanks for your reply.

So glad you’re using this machine. You’re so good at explaining how to use it, thank you. And 🙏 for your friends. 💕
Beautiful cards. Our prayers are with Yana and her family.
I feel the same even though I have only watched her videos. I just keep her and her country in my thoughts and prayers.
I’ve been following yana. I am heartbroken for her and her family and country. She is so positive considering the hell she’s going through. Hearing her cry on TH-cam last week explaining the war made me sob! I will keep praying for sure! Beautiful cards.

I foiled my plates my first try, too. 🤪 I used rubbing alcohol to get it off.

You can clean your plates with acetone nail polish remover.

Enjoyed your comparison of foiling on different papers. Try Hammermill 100# cardstock which is very smooth, very white, & great with copics.
Thank you! Will do!
I’m wondering if your stuff shifted taking the platform off the dock…..it’s a snug fit and I’ve heard others say they don’t put the plates on until they undock the platform to avoid the paper and foil from shifting
Where is Dawn and W plus 9? Her stamps where some of the first I ever purchased when I started stamping.

Love your video's. Where did you get you eraser? I don't see it on your list.
I forgot it! Thanks for asking. Both Simon Says Stamp and Honey Bee Stamps carry them.

I was actually able to get foil off my plate with 91% isopropyl alcohol and a little elbow grease. Just an idea to try =)

You can stop the foil going where you don't want it just by using your powder bag on the paper before you foil

It doesn't have a time setting more specific than just pressing the timer button and waiting for it turn solid green.

So praying for Yana and all the Ukraine citizens 🇺🇦🙏❤

Regular plain acetone no conditioners will clean your plate.
I think and pray for Yana and the Ukrainian people everyday. I appreciate and am grateful the US is supplying them with weapons and such.
