Ophelia has big dreams and she went to states and my father was left in PH and never had communicated for a long time. News came to ophelia telling my father was dead and she was devastated. After few decades they had a school reunion and they found each other. Now I'm happy that they continued their good relationship. I sent this song to him and he was happy. Nonetheless, Ophelia’s father and brother warned her to stay away of Hamlet in order to guard her childlike innocence. Eventually, Hamlet takes Ophelia’s virginity and kills her father, leading her to take her own life despite the fact her family claims she “fell off of a willow branch”. Her death is considered one of the most poetic in play history as even though the entirety of her life was dictated by the men around her, her own suicide was her one chance to have a say in her own life, even though it meant ending it. Some critics say that Ophelia was a innocent girl, taken advantage of by those around her, but fail take into account situations in the play where she displayed cleverness and wits. On the other hand, some consider her a conniving harlot, only taking into account her cleverness but neglecting the many times she was naive and innocent. In either interpretation, the audience is dictating who Ophelia is to them, just as the men in the play did. But in the end, Ophelia will forever remain one of the most tragic and neutral characters of plays, doomed to never find love and forever be controlled by others, an amazing symbolization of femininity.

My older sister showed up at my door with a stray cat, there was a man who was holding her out of the window of his car, she saved that cat's life and gave her to me, my little brother named her after this song, naturally she was terrified, several years later, Ophelia has warmed up to all of us, she's a little spoiled, but that's okay, what I never told anyone was that I was so depressed that I was considering ending my life that summer, but Ophelia gave me some purpose, thank you for writing this masterpiece
Our cat is named Ophelia, and this song came along about a year after we got her. She's now at the end of her life, but this song will always remind us of her.
As an introvert, this is my calming signature song... I always feels genuine happiness, nostalgia and sadnesses. Always a nice song to listen when you're stressed.
What if it’s just good sh!t? Introverts, contribute to the communities you occupy. Be human. You all are not being the good in the world, you’re taking energy. The new Introverts suck energy and ask for special treatment. Stop that and add to the good. These new times need better people and contributors, not people sittin on they ass.

the part at the end where he’s dancing on the street gives me a nostalgic vibe. it’s just- the color of the sky, the cars, the way everything looks reminds me of when i was little. it makes me sad but also happy because whenever i watch that part i feel that vibe again.
Saame dudee, we moved out of the town I grew up in, I used to listen to this when I was there and now it's just a memory. The cloudy sky and the roads give me nostalgic vibes😭

I get such a weird feeling from this song, like I feel happy, sad, nostalgic all at the same time, I get shivers down my spine every time I listen to it.
Fun fact ;) Ever since I was young, I had heard this song once, never remembered the lyrics, or knew who made it. It stayed in my head for years and years, and eventually I started singing the lyrics that I thought I heard to the melody of this song that I hummed. Only recently had I rediscovered this song, and the nostalgia was crazy. Never had I experienced something that had brought back that much of my childhood to me. This song makes me feel happy, and puts my mind in what feels like a different place. Thank you Lumineers.
“Ophelia is a vague reference to people falling in love with fame. That spotlight can seem like an endless buffet, but in reality, you’re just shiny, bright, and new to people for a quick moment - and then you have the rest of you life to live. It’s about caring so much about the people around me, and wondering if we’re all going to be alright.”
@@clementinejuille6554 it’s just metaphorically showing that he has “fallen in love with” fame, but is now wondering if he’ll be okay after the fame fades away
I know that the Lumineers won’t see this but, about an hour ago I opened my moms pain meds and was about to overdose, but while I was sitting down about to take the pills I could hear my radio from my room and I heard the beginning of this song and I stopped myself so I could listen, I’ve been listening to this song nonstop since, this song made my mind dance and I am in a much better mind set than I was in a few moments ago, thank you Lumineers for I don’t think I would be here if Ophelia didn’t come on the radio. Edit: woah, it’s been a few months, and I came back to this song and definetly was not expecting to see my comment with 4.8k likes and over 200 comments!! that’s amazing! and it’s heartwarming to see how kindly most of you reacted. for those wondering things have been a lot better for me now, and for anyone who felt the way I did I just wanna let you know that you are important, safe, and you have a good future ahead.
Comment Girl hey I don't know you but keep your head up and keep living and don't stop living. I hope one day we met. You seem like a amazing person and we have the same music taste😊
Ophelia was the character controlled by the men in her life, taking control of her life by killing herself by DROWNING. This entire video: shows boats, rain, and water. Lyrics: "Oh ophelia you've been on my mind ever since the flood." This video showed so much imagery behind the character it was based off of and it really showed that. I really love that :)
I love how the videoclips all connect together, but are time incoherent as well. Makes you realize that it doesn't matter whether it's 2020, 2000 or 1980 - people are solving the same problems, with the same heartache, pain, happiness and love. We stand at crossroads in our lives, seemingly minor ones, just like the generations before us did. It's sad and calming, connecting, at the same time.

Sitting on a beach in El Salvador smoking cigarettes reminiscing on all memories with my ex girlfriend, this was one of her favorite songs and in turn it made me love it even more. She’s my ex because of decisions I’ve made in the past during our relationship, ones that I regret but can never erase, I’ve never loved anyone like I loved her and don’t think I ever will. I was the sole architect in our demise and that regret I’ll live with forever, there’ll never be another like her and I don’t aim to find out because it’s true you never know what you have until you’ve lost it, Sitting on the beach in El Salvador smoking cigarettes reminiscing on all memories with my ex girlfriend, this was one of her favorite songs and in turn it made me love it even more.

That fast piano part gives me life💖

Listen to Mad Rush by Philip Glass, this piano part feels partially inspired by his music :)
I loooove that part!!!
It's almost analogous to the drop of an EDM song or something.
It's a good bit, isn't it? And, I know what you mean - also gives me some kind of emotion as well.

You're right. I find it's a little like a homage to Gene Kelly dancing to "Singing' In The Rain".....
Same here i came back to watch his weird but amusing moves
He is walking like a fool in love. Anybody who knows this feeling is super lucky.
Used to walk through and around Galway, rain falling, my earphones and this song...

Our cat is named Ophelia, and this song came along about a year after we got her. She's now at the end of her life, but this song will always remind us of her.
Can we talk about how unperfect and genuine his movements are
Yes. I could watch him dance all day.
Yeah they show that he isn’t perfect and he’s like all other humans with flaws and doesn’t show him as a perfect being

Introverts, contribute to the communities you occupy. Be human. You all are not being the good in the world, you’re taking energy. The new Introverts suck energy and ask for special treatment. Stop that and add to the good. These new times need better people and contributors, not people sittin on they ass.

Just do one first then the other like dance first then replay the song and cry to that one or well thats what i do

why not both xD
the part at the end where he’s dancing on the street gives me a nostalgic vibe. it’s just- the color of the sky, the cars, the way everything looks reminds me of when i was little. it makes me sad but also happy because whenever i watch that part i feel that vibe again.
Saame dudee, we moved out of the town I grew up in, I used to listen to this when I was there and now it's just a memory. The cloudy sky and the roads give me nostalgic vibes😭
I remember doing a pretend music video for this song with a few of my friends on the last day of school. At the end, I whispered in my two friends ears "I love you, your gonna do great things in life." Ive never seen them smile so big.

Fun fact ;)
Ever since I was young, I had heard this song once, never remembered the lyrics, or knew who made it.

Ophelia was the character controlled by the men in her life, taking control of her life by killing herself by DROWNING.
This entire video:
shows boats, rain, and water.
Lyrics:
"Oh ophelia you've been on my mind ever since the flood."
