The Penang hokkien mee is different from the hokkien mee in KL/PJ/Klang. It's also known as prawn mee as prawn shells are used to make the broth. That's why you could smell the prawn flavour. Wow, oh wow, the hokkien mee is so SEDAAAAAAPP that you go for a second helping 👍👍👏. In Penang, your shout-out should be "Ho Chiak" coz Hokkien dialect is commonly used in the Northern states. "Ho Sek" is Cantonese, mostly used in the Southern states. Anyway, it's amazing that you enjoyed another "HO CHIAK" day. Cheers, Chu and have a glorious Friday and weekend 🙆🙆🙆🙆

Anyway it is good that you enjoyed it! Just a small suggestion, maybe you can wear a hat with "Taeguk" or anything that represent your country, so will have lesser people say oishi and more masisseoyo.

This is authentic "Hokkien Mee" (originally non-spicy, chili paste added in fusion version). Traditionally, Hokkien people eat this during festive season or birthdays. The one you had in KL or any other style, those are NOT "Hokkien Mee". The majority of Penangites are "Hokkien" descents, they will tell you the same. My grandma used to cook the original version (non-spicy) more than 40 years ago during festive season.
By the way, the KL version you showed on your video, we call that "Hokkien Char" in Penang but it also tastes different in Penang. Hope you can try that as well.
