Wanted to move to Houston but there frequent extreme weather events and blackouts made me back out. Is Austin any better with extreme weather or power issues?
For sure! It’s super hot here and we’ve had two random hail storms in the last 8 months. However, we don’t really get tornadoes and (most of) Austin doesn’t flood. It’s also a lot dryer in Austin than Houston
I'm happy living further out in the area, and not downtown where it's crowded and super-expensive. Things are cheaper, and if we really want to we can drive in on an evening or weekend 👍
1- we probably got that shot at the crack of dawn 2- we probably got that shot in early 2021 when the pandemic was in full swing and traffic was non existent 🥲
So, they are here part-time. Typical couple that travel for months?$120 electric not in summer, $120 gas. Compare to California without Austin summers. Older house in Cali. Why interview part-timers? O health insurance costs. Concierge health care, lol. Auto Insurance in Austin is not cheap. What about rent or mortgage? Higher end in Texas.

I totally agree! 😃
So the intro where you show empty freeways/streets...was that some type of magical CGI that made the unbearable Austin traffic disappear??? Lol

What makes you say that they’re part time? They live and work in Austin and then travel over a weekend or two.
