BTS are more than artists, their music could be defined as a genre on its own. In their reaction to this mv, they mentioned that Jimin could have been the lead dancer. Could you imagine?!? 😍😭
They mentioned it more as a comment to the dancing he use to do before he entered BTS. It wasn't said as a possibility that he could have been dancing here. I don't know either if Jimin could accomplish what the main dancer here did mostly because Jimin has now spent years using his dancing to fit the music of BTS while the dancer here is strictly contemporary dancing.
Fully agree, though it seems more people are more into a version which is on Spotify, I’m more into classical one and I’ll cry if they just leave it in mv
the spotify version is a fucking jam, so yes def check it out. you were totally right , there are elements of the orchestra but it’s faster and more hard hitting.
Loved your review Karen! As a longtime fan of bts ...I really am looking forward to this possible “darker” album. Feels like this might be a new side of bts we haven’t seen.
Love your analysis at the end! There is really so many ways for this art film and the song to be interpreted. I love the direction that they’ve been taking this comeback with all the artist collaborations , it really gets the brain juices flowing Personally, the interpretation ive landed on is, well there’s a couple. If we take the combination of the dance and song in a jungian way (seeing as this is still map of the soul) the dancers in all black represent the Shadow, those bits and pieces that you shove away to never see the light of day. At first they’re an extension of the self (aka the principle dancer) but, just like in the lyrics, as their fame grows brighter the shadow grows deeper and stronger and controls you more and more. For the entire first part of the song, the principle dancer is being controlled by his shadows, but he never acknowledges their presence up until the moment that the lyrics say ‘I go deeper, I see myself’. All of a sudden, he not only sees they are there but he is able to get out of the prison he is keeping himself in and flees to ‘freedom’ by refusing to allow the shadows to be in control (I will not be devoured) leaving the shadows behind. However, that freedom is false and the song becomes dissonant, because while he ‘escaped’ the shadows, since the shadow is a part of your self you can never actually escape it. So he journeys down again and this time faces the shadows head on, refusing to allow them control but instead leading them to become a whole self again, hence the mirroring of the formation at the beginning and end. Now that they’re working together, though, the shadows are able to lift the principle dancer so that he can fly higher than he could before. There’s a lot of other things to talk about, of course, but this is the main interpretation I ended up landing on
Hi! I think you went past Golden Child... After 1 year they had a comeback entitled "WANNABE"! I know that you'll like the song that's why I'm saying this! Check it out!
You’re one of my faves reactors to bangtan!!! And I love your thoughts on the vid!! ❤️ Also, I have a question since Map of The Soul: Persona dropped... Did you enjoy the album as a whole?? I wanna know your thoughts on that; hope you see this comment!

RM said it won't be since it was made specifically for the video. We may get it in the re-package though.
