No QB can survive with defenders leaping the A gaps... none.
JF is a fine football player and QB and continues to grow in the pocket, he just needs some O-Line stability and NFL quality OC, something a bit more veteran and experienced. It's really hard to win a race with a transmission that hangs and a tune with holes all over it. It just never finds the right gear when it needs to, and then stutters.

I’ve always thought sticking with fields and trying to trade down as much as possible while still getting MHJ. A healthy Mooney at 3 and maybe Greg Roman and we might be gnar. Caleb just seems like too much of a risk especially when we have JF1

There's no doubt that GM Poles will trade down. There are at least 7 teams that are begging to get their hands on this year's Pick of the "QB litter". The trade down will bring 8 to 10 draft picks spread over 3 years (2024, 2025 & 2026) that will include 3 !st Rounders: 1 each in 2024, 2025 & 2026. That's how GM Poles continues on his original 4-Year Plan designed to bring a championship caliber team back to Chicago by 2025. BEAR🐻DOWN!

    Coaching Matters

  • @maniachaelchallenges
    @maniachaelchallenges 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It’s lazy and unfair to admit that the offensive play-calling is trash, and still be down on Fields for “not executing the plays well enough”. That might be worse than saying Getsy’s play-calling isn’t that bad. I think the truth of the matter is that there’s a loud minority of Bears fans that A. Never liked Justin and B. Are so resigned to bad playbooks and offensive lines(considering the franchise’s history for the last decade or so), that their expectation for a QB is to basically be a superhuman that can overcome all of that and just be successful anyway. Anyone who watches games or film with realistic expectations sees that the QB is the least of their worries. We’ve seen him succeed when good plays and protections are called, and we’ve seen his improv skills when plays break down. It seems like Getsy took all the off-season acquisitions to mean that he could regress the playbook and go back to trying to fit Justin into HIS mold, when even a QB that does fit Getsy’s mold couldn’t survive behind this line, especially when he’s calling go routes that take twice as long to develop as the pocket takes to break down. Getsy refused to adapt, and in doing so, sabotaged what could’ve been a 12-5 season and a statement year for Fields. A good offensive coordinator would have said “Ok, now I have a star WR, as well as the dual-threat QB I already have. Let’s draw up a playbook that combines those strengths and makes this offense dangerous”.
When it comes to Eberflus, his clock management issues and 4th down decision making earlier in the season made me doubt him, but seeing what he’s done with the defense since he took over play-calling, knowing he’s not gonna take a demotion, and watching the team culture that’s developing with his philosophy, I wouldn’t be mad at all if he stayed.
I think the smartest course of action for next season is to give Eberflus one more chance with a new offensive play-caller that will build a playbook that fits this offense’s strengths, instead of trying to force a square peg into a round hole and having 0 schemes drawn up on the “clutch” page of said playbook, trade down with a team like the Commanders or Patriots who will be looking for a QB, draft MHJ, and fill the holes in the o-line. If Poles does that(and I think he will), next season will be what optimistic fans like myself expected this season to be, and Fields haters won’t know whether to be happy or upset about it. Good luck to Caleb Williams wherever he ends up, but he’s not needed in Chicago.

Now I know why Daniels was a backup QB all his career. If Justin Field is a star, then what is Jordan Love and C.J. Stroud in their first year? The bar has been set so low for QB play in Chicago we have to listen to that bozo, Chase Daniel. Even after a month of relatively mistake free football, his 4th. qtr. completion percentage ranked last. He finished 25th. in yards per attempt. Holds on to the ball longer than any other QB. According to ESPN's Stats&Info Dept., Fields is last among qualified quarterbacks in average time per pass(3.23 seconds). Has a methodical windup. 29th. in 4th. qtr. interceptions. Ranks 30th. in quarterback ratings. In the last four road games he threw a total of one touch down, and in one game it took 8 tries. Again, I'll ask you. Who would you rather have as your QB? The first year QBs like Jordan Love and C.J. Stroud who begin the season with receivers you never heard of, or JF in his 3rd. year. I agree that Getsy was a big problem, but you can't blame it all on him. What we know about Fields that he lives on rock bottom and occasionally comes up for air.

I do think the bears stay with Justin I really don’t see another person as the bears QB like I only picture number 1 as QB I know everyone sick of losing which I’m sure Justin is the biggest one that hates it. Justin is absolutely coming into his own year 4 if the bears build right he will average 290yards passing next year n have 5-6 games over 300 yards passing n 100 yards rushing. The bears will also lead the NFC yes I said NFC not just the north the bears will be the best team in the NFC next year if they build this correctly. MHJ n Darnell Mooney is a must have Mooney will have a better year next year as 4th option behind Moore MHJ Kmet it’s viable we keep or find a WR as well not just draft MHJ because we need those picks to draft Dline and Oline. Draft MHJ n move on to building your team. I don’t get the whole Williams debate when he have someone who shown he can play. N us as Chicago fans shouldn’t we back our guy up ?? When do bears fan know anything about QB play if chase Daniels n many other NFL QB say keep fields you keep fields man. This is like football god testing the bears they’re flashing something shiny in front of our faces but underneath it’s really rusty so I’m pretty much saying shouldn’t we be okay with having Justin n don’t be so greedy by flirting with a new QB

I know some people think that if the Bears won this game it would give Justin Fields a better chance at staying but I don’t believe that… He has shown more than enough the last few games that he can be a great NFL quarterback, he didn’t have very good protection, he didn’t have the same number of receivers to throw to that Jordan love has, he didn’t have four years behind Aaron Rodgers, and he didn’t have the experience coaches… So to assume that a loss against Green Bay is the end of his career in Chicago is foolish and I would not trade him for another quarterback like Caleb Williams or Drake May or whomever… If you want to draft a quarterback in the third or fourth round Look for a back up… But Field has shown so much potential so if you get rid of him now after only his second season? Exclamation after only his second season! Are you kidding me after his second season you are ready to start over again? That’s just foolish… Any GM who can see what he’s capable of doing and yet still wants to start over with an unknown commodity should be fired, they need to continue to build this staff continue to build the roster and things will continue to get better and better I have no doubts about itand I totally agree with you Chase Daniels… He does have what it takes to be a great NFL quarterback and you can see it when he has the time, protection and the talent

*_Screw_** it.* Right or wrong, the Bears have made it clear that they would rather lose without him than win _with_ him? That's on them. Let's end this whole debate: hey Browns: who's gonna be the QB you want to carry you through next season?
You think Flacco _HAS_ a full season left when he throws 2 picks a game? Watson? Why *wouldn't you* take a chance on Fields when you can probably get him for a 3rd-rounder & a spare o-linesman?
Fields on the Browns would Be Unstoppable.

Justin Fields is my 23rd ranked QB.
i have him behind rookies such as Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson.
The NFL is a super talented league. i dont think any one in their right mind would take justin over guys like Goff and kyler murray let alone players like jalen hurts.
At best, justin is the next Colin Kaepernick. but i doubt that. kaep had swagger and took chances (on and off the field) and justin is very very vanilla.

Hello Chase, thanks for explaining why Justin Fields had a decent and pretty good 2023 Season in the 13 games that Fields played this year. Hopefully, Bears GM Ryan Poles will also see that Fields is the better choice over both QBs Caleb Williams and Drake May.

I need Bears fans to explain to me how a new quarterback fixes the O line..... Every year we ask for a new quarterback. The reason Fields has the most rushing yard last season is because he's a mobile quarterback. We needed a mobile quarterback because WE HAVE NO POCKET.....because our O-line has sacked since Rex Grossman. We've gotten EVERY single quarterback hurt. And then Nagy tried to make him a pocket passer at the beginning of the season. But you Bears fans knowing all this still say "we need another quarterback". That's like replacing the engine but using the same leaky oil pan. Smh

    ONE play from each game.
How about I show you TWO plays from each game that thoroughly refute your argument?
Fields is not a *bad* QB, so anyone can find nice plays he's made. And Fields can make some great plays. Of course even bad QBs can make some great plays, or they wouldn't be in the NFL at all. Fields cannot CONSISTENTLY play at the level required to bring a long championship window, let alone one championship, to Chicago.

  • @dennismiller7605

How come Fields, the star can't even put up 3000 passing yards, has the worst 4th quarter stats in the NFL for three consecutive years? He makes great highlight films, but more with his feet. He will make some great plays as all quarterbacks to.....he can't do that consistently.
He is NOT a good pocket passer and likely he will never be. Check out this quote. Quay Walker on Justin Fields: "Whenever we can keep him in the pocket and allow him just to play quarterback and not allow him to run, we got a real, real good chance of winning the game." Time for the Bears to move on.

  • @jloiben12

It actually isn’t difficult at all. We just have to accept one reality.
The best a Bears QB is capable of playing is average. This is a fact of life the same way gravity is. If you accept this, you can be like the 49ers. If you don’t accept this, you will be in purgatory for wasting first round picks on average-at-best players.
It also helps that there are two generational players in this draft and the Bears can get both of them and they are both pass catchers that make a foursome that has a mismatch on 100% of the plays they are all on the field for. There is a reason why Fields’ measures when throwing to Cole/DJ are very different than when he throws to the rest of the team

I agree and you provided the evidence Fields has grown in his footwork/accuracy, throwing guys open, not running even if open green grass but has better pass target options, all the things he needed to improve he has. Now that Getsy is gone hopefully Bears keep him and give him an OC who gives Justin an offense primarily based on his strengths just like Todd Monken did for Lamar Jackson.

Not to mention this has been a down year for many qbs because of these new implemented game plans from dcs. These new schemes they have come up with this season have done wonders to stop top offenses. Shoutout Vic Fangio for that. Justin played well. On paper the line looked good with pieces to develop but the play was very suspect. You have rbs that aren’t as good or experienced in pass pro. Lots of fields sacks are coverage sacks. So often you’ll see the wideouts be absolutely locked up bc the skill is lacking to beat man or the play call doesn’t beat the coverage add that to the limited time he has in the pocket and you’re up for disaster. He’s shown great flashes and has developed so much as a passer. You want to give him help? Use the picks this draft to get him some studs and weapons (there are a lot in this draft). Watch him grow with some actual weapons. Moving on from him would reset the clock. And now you’re stuck with a rookie qb who will face the same challenges Justin faced this year. With the same weapons Justin had when you could just acquire so many more picks and assets trading that first for a haul.

With that being said, I still think Fields has the higher ceiling, he's greatly respected by this team as a leader, and he will put in the work needed to continue improving.
