Great airmanship; great photography. Always amazed at that huge rudder, also the really very uneven runway at Birmingham. Amazed at the front end view of the A380 as it slows on the runway. Thanks very much.
Its not uneven..the camera uses a telephoto or long lens thus cramming the picture- so any small deviation is amplified...Its best seen on a camera viewing railway lines when a telephoto lens is used...
@northernlights8126 No, Engine Alliance on the Emirates, not RR. And like all turbofans, they take several seconds to spool up so the power is already quite high due the drag of the flaps etc. Go-around power has to be applied immediately in a go-around decision.

I have only ever landed in a Wide Body Aeroplane (Lockheed Tristar) at Birmingham once, in the late '70s, diverted from Heathrow because of Fog and I watched the little circle at the end of the runway pass under almost immediately the engines went into full reverse and we eventually stopped and we turned onto the taxiway at the other end of the runway immediately so I had the impression that the runway was not very long. Seemed to be the same here as well. Impressive video, thankyou.
@@PrinceBarin77 There is still a displaced threshold both ends I believe which means landing distance available is only around 7000 ft. Also, it wasn't lengthened for the A380 but for potential Asia flights. Air India 777 flights at the time were taking heavy payload restrictions. A380 itself doesn't need long runways, especially for short hop to Dubai.

Dramatic indeed. I was listening out on the Birmingham approach freq. while flying just west of the zone a few years ago. An Emirates A380 was on the freq., the pilot sounded incredibly like Arnie. It took all my RT discipline not to say "I'll be back" when he was transferred to the tower.
..😄i like how the bird perched on the runway light bar is content to stay there and couldn't be bothered by the giant approaching although not sure how far away it still was even as it seems close..

I know what you mean but because I'm anal I'll mention that the engines themselves don't actually lift the plane :)
Fantastic piloting!
great video, would this A380 be piloted in or on auto in this instance?
I think manual would be used when wind conditions are very difficult, but comment from an A380 pilot would be interesting.
Bravo pilot, good job. Cheers.

Why does that runway appear to have ups and downs in it?
It does, but the low camera angle makes it seem much bumpier than it really is - the runway is 2 miles long.
