Sokhary Chau, Mayor of the city of Lowell on the enduring partnership with the NCTA

The Lowell Folk Festival is one of the NCTA’s long-standing partners, first joining forces with us as the host city of the National Folk Festival from 1987-89. This amazing collaboration seeded the now 36-year-old Lowell Folk Festival, where together we continue to present stellar performers and culture bearers from across the country and beyond, while also shining a light on the diversity and vibrancy of the city and New England. Lowell’s mayor, Sokhary Chau, offers his perspective on how the NCTA’s partnership over the years has been key to the resilience of the festival and the growth of the city. Enduring partnerships like this one embody the guiding principles of the NCTA’s work since our founding 90 years ago.
