- Fried green tomatoes are so good they've had an old country song written about them. "Fried green tomatoes taste so fine. I love to eat them with a buddy of mine..." Singing about them is pretty good but eating them is way better. This recipe is designed to fry one large tomato. If you want to do more than that you can stick to a 2:1 ratio. It's not a science, I just mix and go.
2/3 cup self rising cornmeal mix (I used white cornmeal)
1/3 cup self rising flour
Mix these together in a bowl or plastic bag
Butter milk for dipping
Canola oil for frying
Slice the green tomatoes and dip them in buttermilk. Coat them in the meal and flour mixture. Fry in hot oil until golden brown. Drain and sprinkle them with salt.
Eat up!
Fried green tomatoes are the best!!! 😋
Watching now but wanted to say... I'm like Chris, Love mine thin. Love your videos 💞
Okay... I had to stop a minute and mention that I never knew to dip it in buttermilk. I've always just cut them thin, salt and pepper them and dip them in the cornmeal and flour mix. You learn something everyday lol. Next time I'll try it with buttermilk dip
😂😂😂😂 I LOVE CHRIS NEVER A DULL MOMENT

I mix flour & cornmeal.
Okay LOL last time bugging you 😁 I know you may not have it but I got to where I was shaking and couldn't even write good and they said I have essential tremors. They put me on meds for it and has helped
LOL you're not bugging me. Buttermilk really adds something to the flavor if you ask me so I can't wait to hear if you think so too. Essential tremors, yeah I've got them. They don't bother me enough at this point to worry about it. Thanks for the info!
