Lab successfully done after getting error : enter passphrase for key 'pawan.pem': It was .pem error.. content of .PEM file not pasted properly in pawan.pem through command VI pawan.pem so opened VI editor and deleted the entire content of pawan.pem file and repasted the content of NATKEY.PEM file in VI editor...its done....

While doing this lab public server connect successfully to internet but when I use ssh -r and private ip then it aksking me passphrase for key .so what is that.

Sir when we are entering into the private subnet . After disable the destination check of nat instance .putty becomes inactive 2 times having the same problem.What to do can anyone help in the last part when the lab is about to finish

when i am doing ssh from NAT Instance by using ssh -i bhupinder.pen ec2-user@private ip of server
Enter passphrase for key 'bhupinder.pem':
Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic). and i am not able to connect to private instance from NAT instance.

@27.22 after SSH command and accepting by "YES" I am getting msg to enter " enter passphrase for key 'ads.pem':" I created the same lab twice and getting the same msg. Not sure which passphrase need to enter. Pls guide or assist.
PEM file copy error.....delete the content of ads.pem file and repaste the content of .pem file...will b done...I was also getting same error but resolved now...
@bhupinder rajput Sir....when i am using a command ssh-i Filename ec2-user@privateip ....it is asking for ENTER PASSPHRASE FOR KEY 'FILENAME'.....kindly resolve this...

I have a query regarding NAT Gateway/Instance.
Given an understanding that a Public IP will enable internet access to an instance , all internet traffic has to go thru Internet Gateway only. Then while using NAT Gateway/Instance :
Q1. Why we have to assign Elastic IP ONLY to NAT Gateway/Instance??
Q2. What is the information give/take happening between NAT Gateway/Instance and Internet Gateway when EC2 instance is communicating with Internet (eg. update patches of MYSQL)??

I got the practical perfect i changed the chmod command from 700 to 600 and it ran perfectly pinging internet.

A little late here, but anyway here it goes. I have one doubt though. As long as this video is considered, you explained it well, I got to know a couple of new things. But I did not understand the way you did create a text file in a public instance to store the SSH key (Key Pair). Although you appended chmod 700 to it, it is still vulnerable as your VPC is public to the world.
You can work it around away by storing a PPK file you created, on a Putty agent named Pageant, keep it running in the background. Once you save the PPK in Pageant, you can take SSH of Public Instance after checking the box labelled as Allow Agent forwarding in SSH -> Auth, you do not even have to specify the key there as you already stored it in Pageant. This takes way less time.
I do appreciate your videos, but there is a way more simplified, though. Thanks.

i have one doubt here as I'm new to AWS...
when we are able to connect Private instances which are in private subnets via bastion host then what is the need of NAT gateway and NAT instance.. ?
simple we are allowing bastion IP in Private instance SG and connecting from bastion host to private instance.
which is easier than deploying NAT gate and NAT instance...
could pls explain ..

This is required as the subject suggests, to let instances in the private subnet access the internet. Even your bastion host has internet access, as long as you do not configure it for NAT instance or connect to NAT gateway, private instances are not able to communicate to the internet. If you do not wish to let your private instances access the internet, well, let the bastion architecture work for you. All the best.
