Luna, you must be fairly new to BTS. This is an iconic mv. This song was written by RM and is about encounter temptations for the first time. It’s based on Herman Hess’s book called Demien written in 1919. If you further dive into BTS you will find that they use psychological theories, art, literature, social issues, personal issues and experiences, mental health, and so on. Their song have meanings that people can relate to in a personal level. They have many songs that have an explanation videos because it’s either too complex or only Koreans can fully understand what it’s about. I’ve seen all of them and they all make me realize how creative and clever they are. Most of their songs are written by members of the group as well as with their in-house writers and composers. The members are also heavily involved in the producing the songs. Since the summer of 2022 the BTS members have been in a transitioning phase as all of them have to serve the mandatory military duties. Jin who is the oldest member joined the army in December, 2022, J Hope went in March of 2023 and the rest of the members will join by the end of
this years as they are planning to reunite as BTS in June of 2025. Since the June of last year they stopped doing group activities to focus on each members solo career before joining the military. They have over 300 songs so you have a lot to choose from. I’m going to suggest a live performance of Dimple and Pied Piper. It’s performed back to back and I think you will love the performance as much as every one of us armies. RM wrote both of the songs and yes he does have the most incredible dimples! Pied Piper was written for army. When RM found out the students and adults alike were either slacking off on their studies or work duties to obsessively watching BTS contents so in the song he ask them to prioritize their time to study and go to work and when you have some free time watch us and love us. Frankly, I was so mesmerized by their performance that I has to purposely read the lyrics to understand the meaning behind these two songs. There is no mvs for these 2 songs m, just the live performances. I’m not quite sure but I believe the concert was in Japan. Hope to see you with another song. Borahae 💜.

Personally it is interesting that even with the uncomfortable struggle the choice is to embrace BOTH sides - which is what you need to archieve Individuation (without letting yourself pressured by celestial or more human rulers).
When you see Jimin in real life he is so incredibly beautiful, he has something very special about him that is indefinable, the most stunning person I've ever seen up close. BTS are so talented and hardworking.

Thanks for sharing this. BTS are probably NEVER random, and they use a lot of symbolism in their songs and MVs. There are often fan videos of 'explanations' ... Always worth looking for, because knowing adds so much! This one of their most complex MVs. The song itself is influenced by the novel Damien by Herman Hess, which is I think about the loss of innocence. It is STUFFED with symbolism of all kinds! I have not seen your previous reaction to BTS, but if it was one of their English songs, polished as they are, there is no comparison! I hope you continue to explore BTS: they are indeed all beautiful, as well as majestic.

Their english songs are just feel good type of songs, they were released during the pandemic to both cheer army up and to prove that they can sing in full english if they want to, but their best songs are in korean. Tho their japanese songs are really good too. I fully recommend watching an introduction to them so you can learn their names, their solo music cause at this point everyone has at least one or 2 songs. I also fully recommend watching their MVs and b-sides with explanations. Ddaeng (a rap line song), Spring Day, a guide to the BTS Universe (the fictional story of their characters mostly shown in I Need U, Run, Epilogue Young Forever and the short movies, but also referenced in other MVs. Their live performances are also very good, especially the ones at korean award shows (MAMA and MMA), and some funny moments cause they're hilarious
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BTS SONGS: louder than bombs (is this too much? 😅😂), Home, we are bulletproof ( there are three versions, try pt2 of it, and the eternal), and these are just some that I like from bts 😊.
Solo songs by them: still life, joke, moonchild by RM. Moon, epiphany, and abyss by Jin. Agust d, map of the soul: shadow, and Daechwita by Suga AKA Agust D. Arson, MAMA, and More by Jhope. Lie, promise, set me free pt.2 by jimin. Winter bear, singularity, stigma by V. My time, still with you, and seven by Jungkook.

Edit: btw, the first 4 'group' songs I wrote above don't have mv. But I also don't recommend listening to translations made on TH-cam. Preferably, you could read the lyrics first on doolset website, then the official song on BTS' channel BANGTANTV, or vise versa since (to put it lightly) some people on yt take advantage of the views the songs give them, and the lyrics are sometimes not even correct. So yeah. Check the lyrics on doolset website or somewhere else. Also, we don't mind long videos. At least a lot of us don't 😂💜

I am sorry that you don't appreciate "Permission to Dance". It was made toward the end of the pandemic, performed at the United Nations, and was the concert theme for their first post-pandemic live concerts in LA & Las Vegas. Meant to be positive & uplifting. I loved it, particularly the sign language & acapello part. BTS is outside the box on many levels. I am 70. I ought to know a few things. 💜
I definitely appreciate the work they put into the song and the meaning, it's simply not my taste of music. And obviously I didn't now yet all the hidden messages and meaning behind it, now I definitely learnt to appreciate it much more🤍
Honestly, I love them, but PTD is my most disliked BTS song. I love the message and sign language, but I will skip it if it comes on. Not many BTS songs gets skipped though.

Also in the MV there is real paintings about the theme of the music.
Yes, Jin is the guy who seems like the protagonist, to understand his role you have to start the Bangtan Universe, because he's character is constructed in a time line (I'm not gonna spoil anything more hehe)
And yes, Taehyung or V is the guy who represent the devil in the video and he has also an important role in the storyline😊

I also see your confusion in other comments about the purple's hearts... This come from Taehyung or V, the second youngest member, who in the Muster Concert of 2016, after seeing the "purple project" that ARMY prepared illuminating the crowd of that color, he give a speech about love and made a new meaning to the last color of the rainbow being infinite, like his love to the fans😭💜 Since then ARMY and BTS color is purple and we use "I purple you 💜" or "Borahae💜" (Bora is purple in Korean and Hae comes from Saranghae = I love you)

This was the first BTS song that i heard and at that time i didn't see the meaning of the music video in this light, and Gosh do I have a whole another level of respect for them now.. (i wanna scream help.)
Luna you are so very perceptive. You were drawn to SUGA's rap verse and said he's like a bad boy type. He has described himself as a "bad boy" but you will learn he is as sweet as a kitten. You picked up on a lot of symbolism and saying it didn't seem random would be correct. BTS videos are very deliberate. Many themes of the MV come from the book Demian. It definitely explores two worlds clashing, temptation and spiritual enlightenment. BS&T is so close to 1 billion views. It's so good.

You should watch an explanation video. They go into more detail about all the symbolism and references. It's one of my favorite videos for this reason, even though the song sits more in the middle of my 15-hour bts and solo playlist. Since you liked suga (the rapper in the green room) check out some of his solo videos: amygdala, haegum, or deschwita. Also, if you didn't like permission to dance, you probably won't enjoy butter or dynamite. Those songs are all good, but none of them made it to my playlist. Fake love is the song that got me into them six months ago. I also recommend mikrokosmos, the truth untold, set me free pt. 2 (jimin), magic shop live, and outro tear live from wembley.

We learn here that Suga can play the organ just as good as he can play the piano. He so awesome! All of them sound seductive just a pleasure for the ears. They look like they are in a museum to me too. =0] I was so surprised by the choreo when i saw it seperate. They leave a lot out. Fire!=0p Also, pls check out the explanation video for this MV. V is a fallen angel to me. He gives in to temptation all of them do. If u read the lyrics and pay attention to the symbolism the song is clearly about temptation not a relationship. I suppose you understand why this song has been used during lectures at uni haha. You're definitely on the right track, but there's sooo much more hidden in this song/mv. I love the explanation video by Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid ( th-cam.com/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/w-d-xo.html ). Fellow reactor Cedric Gegel actually did a great job breaking it down too, though he did it twice - first time for the more "apparent" meaning, and second time for the underlying meanings from the BU.

Some trivia about cinematography for u guys 👀:
• RM reads a paragraph of "Demian" by Herman Hesse at 2:30 in the music video. And at the very beginning, RM is shown reading "Demian" by Herman Hesse.
• At the beginning of the video, Jin looks at a painting titled The Fall of the Rebel Angels by Pieter Bruegel.
• When Jungkook is dangling on the swing in the MV 0:20, the painting behind him is called The Lament of Icarus by Herbert James Draper.
• In J-Hope' solo scene in the MV, he is standing behind Michelangelo’s Pieta.
• When V is sitting on the ledge of the balcony in the MV, in front of him is the painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus, also by Bruegel.

Loved your reaction and your thought process as you waded through the MV. And yes, I believe you were spot on about the “money/more” part. I think it’s a double entendre. It is more, more,, more (greed), but there’s also a saying in English, that “money is the root of all Evil”.

This song's M/V is kinda like a mini movie and a lot of people have different theories on what exactly the meaning of the song is. The theme of the album is about how one changes, thinks, and grows, and I think that this song is about temptation. Giving in to evil because they think that they'll get everything that they've ever wanted by doing so. When they say, "My blood sweat and tears, my last breath, take it all", it's like allowing the devil to take whatever they have in order to get what they want. Jin (the one who you said looks like a porcelain doll) fought against it, while everyone else gave in (when Jimin [the silver haired guy] got the blindfold wrapped around his eyes, it was like he could no longer control himself). V (he's the guy with blond hair sitting on the railing), is like the tempter. He's trying to tempt them into giving in, and as a result, he lost his "wings", which were what the scars on his shoulders were about. When Jin kissed the statue, and the colors appeared on the statue, he had given his soul to the devil to free his friends (that's why Jimin later removed his blindfold; he was free). But by doing so, he no longer had his soul, so he slowly started breaking
Lol the guy who you said reminds you of a porcelain doll is Jin, he is one of the group's visuals. He is very handsome, and has been nicknamed "Worldwide Handsome" by Armys (BTS fans). The guy in the blue jacket and the silver hair that started the song off, he's Jimin. To Armys, BS&T is always considered to be Jimin's era because prior to this song's release, Jimin went through a very dangerous diet, and now, his visuals are ✨✨✨ but a lot of Armys think that he shouldn't have done it just to look better... Thankfully he hasn't done anything like that ever since

Blood sweat and tears and this music video was inspired by the novel Damian about losing innocence a young man losing his innocence. It's part of their fictional storyline that runs through their albums and music videos. This is about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through the storyline. You made it an interesting statement about Jen the one that looked like a porcelain doll being the main character. He is in fact the main character in the fictional storyline. Now he probably has his master's degree in film and acting. He actually auditioned with big hit entertainment to be an actor. Instead, they put him in BTS. he had to learn to sing and dance starting from zero with no prior experience in either.
Wow, if he started from zero then he really has such a great talent, the dance was no joke☠️ anyways thank you so much for all the info, i cant wait to get to know them better🤍

It's based on the classic book by Hermann Hesse called Damien it's about growing up, meeting and giving into temptation, loss of innocence. Even the hunging on the swing is a symbol of falling with the feathers and behind is the painting of Icarius who flew to close to the sun because of pride and the wax that held his wings together melted so his wings fell apart and he fell back down to earth and died. RM recites a line from the book about Heuto being the tempter, also the words in German above the huge mirror are also from the book. Yes there are many reference's the painting he's looking at near the beginning of the MV is the fall of the Angel Luicifer the battle of heaven where Luicifer and his fellow angles are cast out of heaven.
