As a Canadian farmer in eastern Ontario I apologized for this Alberta farmer. My family farm is small less than 1000 acres and use older equipment. It's the life that we enjoy and how we use it. God bless you and your family. Keep up your great videos.
I’m from northern Alberta and we farm just under 1000 acres and I’ve never even heard of this farm or kids name l, probably just making it all up to try and make him feel good but that was just awful to hear and I agree small farming is awesome!
I almost think that he probly wishes he could go back to having a small farm and making a living off it, bigger isn't always better, sometimes when you have it all you wish that you could go back to the simple life with not as much weight and stress on your shoulders
Idk. We make quite a bit on our 250 acres. We grow specialty crops so it’s 10 x the work but also 10 x the profit. Apples peaches plums strawberries blueberries raspberries blackberries and about 25 different vegetables. It’s all hand labor so it’s a pain but it sure pays off

Yep another small cattle farmer here. 25 acres owned and 150 of rough commonage and a whopping 15 suckler cows. It takes every last one of us to feed the world.

As long as you don't lay down and give up (at anything, especially life) you're doing great. I like small farms. I like old things. And anyone who has the guts to grow anything on any size of land.... even in just one little pot, always amazes me. I bought myself two tiny succulents and I feel like I have no idea what I am doing, but I'm gonna learn. And I want to get myself to a point where I can get my yard green again and learn to grow vegetables on it. You keep doing what you're doing. I've been watching farming and homesteading channels and I want to follow in y'all's footsteps on our 0.99 acre. Cheers.
I farm 400 acres part time with a friend using 1980’s equipment. New equipment would break us. We get by fine. Happy to see you farm whatever way you want.
Never buy the new crap with computer engine controls. The companies will refuse to give you proprietary firmware. Thankfully old machcinery is dirt cheap and relatively easy to maintain.
Older equipment is awesome is more mechanical run than computer run I’d run old equipment everytime. I took what u said and applying it to my mental health

It’s funny you made this video when I was a kid every farmer helped every other farmer all the time no matter what. Farming was a community event these days it seems just like you had said everybody’s out to beat everybody else we shouldn’t have to explain to everybody that it isn’t about how much you have or make to be successful you were spot on thanks a million
That comment hurt me I’m a little farmer we have 50 acres of corn and beans and 105 acres of hay and I love the little and old equipment we can handle the farm easily
Mr. Peterson, I just viewed your video from July 14, “It’s Okay to Be A Small Farmer”. Very well said , sir. It made me take a look at our farm. There ain’t too much shiny paint out here, but with the help of The Good Lord, and family and friends, we are usually best with a crop. Some years better than others. Thank you for you view on this matter
This year is my first year farming. I just graduated high school and picked up 35 of the 46,000,000 acres and this video was very inspirational thank you
I’m a small farmer up in Canada and I just wanted to let you know this guy is not the normal up the great white North. I think you guys do a great job and you do it as a family! Keep up the good work!
Kevin is drunk. I crop 1600 acres in northern Saskatchewan and have a half section of hay/pasture for my 30 head of cattle. Five of us in the family and we do quite fine. And I farm with older stuff and do most of it myself. Most of the guys I know that have 5000 acres or more around here are or will be going tits up. Banks don't like small and medium sized guys because we don't buy things unless we have the full amount sitting in the bank and it's never new things haha.
I’m not a farmer, I live in the suburbs in Melbourne Australia, I try to juggle being a wife, mother, Enrolled nurse, gardener & life. Your Faith, Family love & Farming are an inspiration & dream for me. In my view your farm is huge, you are smart with the use of your equipment upkeep & the love you put into you work & family is amazing, 5 generations is something to be proud of, hold your heads high guys!
Greg I’m the guy in Texas that sent you a box of devotional books. I am pretty sure when I stand before God one day he’s not going to ask me how many acres I worked. He is going to ask me what I did with His son Jesus. When I was your age I was trying to farm and would get frustrated when the guy next to me seemed to do things faster and better. I remember my dad telling me to not worry about what was going on across the fence. He would say “just worry about your side”. You boys keep up the good work, your side of the fence looks good.
Please don't take these sick people's comments to heart. You guys kick ass!! I'm a fan, and you guys are obviously the real deal when it comes to farming. Thank you for posting
As a Saskatchewan farmer, I apologize about that mans behaviour. Your farm can do exactly what a 10 combine 100,000 acre farm can do. And that is feed the world. Thank you for everything that you do. God bless you guys
I grew up and still work at my family's farm, I'm the 4th generation in my family in north Eastern PA and we farm about 1000 acres we also raise beef and pigs. I would say our farm is on the larger side for our area. Those comments just surprise the hell out of me that people talk like that and new equipment doesn't mean anything as long as the job gets done. Great video and keep it up you guys!
I knew a Kevin once. Me and dad went to his consignment auction and then learned he rented all 3,000 acres of his ground. Lol that guy is such a dunce. Love your content keep it up
Your farm is good you help people like us live like bread and all sorts of things edit: we have 90 acres and last year we planted beans and the were no good do it again the better thanks for spending time
Your words are wonderful and oh so welcome, especially in these trying times for production agriculture!! Thank you so much for saying what so many of us feel!!
You shouldn't not let what people say to you. Haters are going to hate. Small farms and farmers rock. I would rather get me food from small farms any time. Keep doing what you do. Delete all the negative remarks. God bless you all and your farm
We use 47 year old IH combines and we farm 25 acres with 70's and 80's IH so you guys are huge to us I own a 1935 McCormick Deering w-30 on steel wheels and I only 12! and I love farming with old 30s 40s 50s 60s 70s and 80s equipment love your guys work and the second the saw this video I subscribed
Where I'm from farms are 3,000 acres and I see old equipment every where and almost nobody uses a grain cart it's ok to farm with the equipment u have at least you know it's paid for its ok to be a small farm I personally like your equipment on your farm and I enjoy your videos in from North Carolina
I live in Alberta and have around 800 acres and We have old equipment, some from the 60s. There’s a guy just a few miles from us and has over 10,000 acres. I totally agree with you
I am late to the show but 2 thoughts on watching this. 1. Godliness with contentment is great gain 2. He who is faithful in little will be faithful in much God bless you guys and your families.
I wouldn't waste my time with those who feel that putting others down, somehow makes them feel better. I personally love how you, and your family put God & Christ first, family second, and everything else last. May God continue to bless you, & your family!
Being Canadian, i really apologize for his discouraging comment! Not all of us are like that. On our farm we run 2 massey 550 combines and 1 850. We are a smaller scale than you guys and it works just perfect
Hey small Kansas farmer here I know I’m only a kid but we have 100 to 200 acres of each field we raise charloais beef cattle plat wheat, teft grass, alfalfa, crab grass and more. We are not a very big farmer have maybe 120 head of cattle we live around Halstead and Burrton. Love that you guys help your community and stick together as brothers.
Just ran across this channel. I love the content and thank you for all that you do ! The fact that people question the age of a farmers equipment and size of the farm , or how many acres baffles me, why does that even matter? ... Maybe those people should question the cost of land , equipment, and the actual cost to operate a farm and the hours that go into it.... I was raised on a very small produce farm in Tennessee with a Super A Farmall, 8n Ford, a 2000 Ford and 4600 Ford... if it works its good and if its paid for its even better! Thanks again!
I'm in Illinois and the farms around my area are 2 -3 thousand acres. Having older stuff means no payments and easier to work on. You guys all work together and always seem happy.
Farming isn’t about being the biggest making the most money having the newest gear it’s about doing the things we love being the kind of person to lend a hand help people out without judging and criticizing we are all in this together
More than a quarter of a million people love you. Me included. You must have been due for a hater to come along. Your family and others like yours are a blessing to America.
I’m from northern Alberta and I’ll say 1 that guy in Facebook was completely wrong and I bet he’s just this random kid that doesn’t know anything and just watches videos because I’ve never heard of him and second small farming is awesome! Keep doing what you’re doing it’s helped me feel motivated to upload my own small farm videos
Bravo. My brother and my dad farmed entire lives with used equipment. My brothers last combine was a JD 7720. My nephew has and uses tractor my dad bought used in 1946. Farmers - the salt of the earth
My grandpas parents had to sell the farm shorty after the dirty thirty’s, it was only around 200 acres here in central ks but it had some fishing ponds and a great place for parties, that’s all I want it to. It’s out in the middle of nowhere. The cops wouldn’t even go out there because it’s not worth it. From the high way going 60 plus mph on the rock and dirt roads all the way there it takes around 15 minutes😂😂😂
Don’t worry about the haters I grew up on a ten acre farm in England we had a small English pub which is where I was born above the bar and the memories I grew up with are priceless when I moved to the States I always wanted to work on one of them big farms and I did but you are just a number small farms are the backbone of America you guys rock man don’t change a thing
All I can say to this video is AMEN. As a person who is currently going to college for Ag, currently employed in the agricultural industry, and whose dream in life is to eventually one day start my own farming operation. I realize that I would not be able to start with the newest of equipment (would love to have a combine like your 7720 starting out) that land is expensive and I would be proud to just be able to grow my own crop and market them, no mater how many acres I had. And finally there is a benefit to one having your equipment payed for, but also there is value in knowing how to work on and fix your own equipment and not having to call a dealer for a service call every time something broke down. Farming is hard and trying but the reward you receive from it are priceless. Thank you for the video, may god bless you and your family, and may you have a bountiful harvest.
Farming for us in Australia was all about lifestyle, we owned everything and it was not the latest and the fanciest machinery, but we were comfortable farmers of 2;000- acres and farmed sheep and wheat every year and never went without. A lot of farmers in Western Australia sold there farms to large foreign owned company’s and operate over 300,000 acre properties but are selling all over crops overseas and we are losing that small dedicated community farmers and our towns are all dying because the lose of the family farmer. Keep up the great work mate. 🇦🇺😀
Kevin should check out the Amish farms in Lancaster County, PA. Most are 40 - 60 acres and may milk 20 -30 cows. Still use horses and mules to pull implements. They can turn a profit, very little overhead.
I thank God for farmers who are willing to work their butts off so that I can have more than plenty of food to eat every day. Thank you guys for sharing your farm life with the rest of the world and for keeping me entertained too! You’re much appreciated!
Hell yeah! Preach for us small farmers, we run a 8820 titan II, i wouldn’t trade it for the world, newer equipment is nice, but the 8820 is paid for and i prefer to run the older iron anyways.
Greg who cares what the haters say,, I think u guys are awesome and a huge thank u & love u guys and ever farmers. I love combines favorite farm equipment,
Love the video I'm in southwestern Ontario Canada and only own 5 acres with a house and shed . Only have 2.5 acres workable and use a atv sprayer and get a neighbor to plant and harvest my crops with a old gleaner combine. Good on you for making this video
Wow, Kevin's head would probably explode if he saw what "Creagh Farm" uses as a farm truck. Greg, we have a saying here - The more superior a man acts the smaller his....(sensored). If you're happy in life that's all that matters.
That is an absolute Gem of a farm. The parlor, the roads, the hills, the scenery, the loaders, the fertilizers. It's just amazing. Yea it's cool to see shiny auto drive, but all types rock the world to old equipment that was made NOT TO BREAK & DIE. God Bless the Farmers of the world (especially the nice ones hehe)
I wish I had a farm of my own and know nothing about it. Thank you for what you guys do. Keep doing what your doing. You owe no one an explanation. I’m sure you guys work your asses off for what you have. God bless
The so called small farmers have always been the back bone of the farming industry. The fancy equipment of today isn't as easy to operate, maintain or repair. Your family farm is something to be very proud. Keep up the great work and the best of luck with your crops for this season,
We got 600 acres total and our newest tractor is an 80s IH😂😂I love farming. I recently bought a 1943 Farmall ID-9 and it’s currently my project. Keep up the good work
Well said, we all know a few Kevin’s..... at the end of the day their farming is usually compensating for some other issues the have. Weather you far 5 acres or 5000, we all play a part
this happens every walk in life, and it gets old. i work at the Honda factory in Ohio and I have been told by other associates there "look at what I have and what they have". just because my wife and I have a few more, lets call them toys, (boat, camper, and ext.) and they don't. I'm treated differently. everything my wife and I have is very used and we are very proud of what we have. everyone else has brand new cars and trucks parked in the lot and here we are with our 94' F350 and 2000 Tahoe. and we smile as we walk into work everyday.
I’m from Ireland and the size of amarican farming is mind boggling to me most farms here Aribal or dairy have maximum 3 tractors and maybe a loader but that’s what we love most about it and for combines it’s un likely for a farmer here has one it’s usually a contractor that comes In and does it for us keep up the good vids 🇮🇪🇮🇪
I have just 80 acres in Northeast Kansas. I have angora goats and hay. I love your family and your farm. I rarely make money from my goats, but I've never been happier.
Well said young man and if that message didn't get through that guy named Kevin or others and that is very very sad and also I like what you said about the stewards of the land that is so awesome thank you very much
That was brilliant! If there is something you have that kevin hasn't its brains. I could not have worded any of that better. I understood every point and it fell together in a way that kept me listening. Best of all it was all true. I was raised on a one hundred acre farm in Ontario and I thought that was a lot of land. Everything we had was paid for. I doubt much of kevin's land or equipment is paid for or ever will be . This is better than a good vid, it's brilliant. Peace.
I love the older stuff don’t let that guy get to you I have a guy on the fire department with me here in Benson nc and he told me one day the biggest tractor on there Farm is a 4450 John Deere hold your head high and you are absolutely right I loved this video and keeping coming my friend take care and good bless y’all
Kevin sounds like he may be up to his eyeballs in debt and if he has a couple of bad years he will be driving a grain cart for the person that now owns his land
You right, most of the general public has no clue what it takes to farm. Alot of times it is easier to go work for another guy. I have a do have a full time job. It doesn't matter, bet it's a fake name and he's a keyboard warrior, farming from the chair in his parents basement.
The reason "little" farmers use old equipment is it's paid for we know how to work on it and we don't go broke like the big farmers that farm 10,000+ acres
yess man that old faithful there! just give it the old whack with a hammer and she fires right up. when in doubt fire some break cleaner into the intake and you'r good. you'd be amazed what an old OG can do with some zip ties man. VS this new equipment when it brakes because it will you have to take it to the shop and get a tech to look at it just to put air in the tire or something stupid that 40 years ago was a easy fix. Oh boy and the bill, 10 grand right into my hand man. fuck that man new shit aint shit it all brakes and when it does im not going broke getting it fixed.
As a small farmer these large farms that are BANK owned think everyone should farm in large amounts of debt when us small farms farm on a budget and don’t go into debt if we don’t have to.
I'm from Cambridgeshire England, to me your family farm is what farming is all about. We used to farm about 500 acres on our family farm but for various reasons, We had to give it up. Still miss it though. Keep up the good work
As a Canadian farmer in eastern Ontario I apologized for this Alberta farmer. My family farm is small less than 1000 acres and use older equipment. It's the life that we enjoy and how we use it. God bless you and your family. Keep up your great videos.

Another excellent video. Thanks for sharing your story with us here on TH-cam. I always enjoy seeing what's going on in Kansas. Have a great evening
Kevin’s farm is probably 1/64 John Deere toys in his moms basement
Those are also probably on finance! 😆
Too funny. I was thinking troll too. lol
@@jw8848 Possibly.. He may even have a toy troll as well! lol
This had me laughing, I knew that carpet farmer!
😅😅😅😅
Please don't take these sick people's comments to heart. You guys kick ass!! I'm a fan, and you guys are obviously the real deal when it comes to farming. Thank you for posting
I just came across your video together and I just wanted to take the time to say thank you very much for sharing this video
As a Saskatchewan farmer, I apologize about that mans behaviour. Your farm can do exactly what a 10 combine 100,000 acre farm can do. And that is feed the world. Thank you for everything that you do. God bless you guys
Good work, Peterson's! We run a sheep ranch in central Montana on 160 acres.
Love your content keep it up
Your not a joke , your the backbone of the farming country !!! I am even a smaller farmer and I still make a difference.
Small farms help the economy and make this nation great. They make jobs and will always be American made.
I still my my days on Dad's Cockshutt 5542 - now that's aging myself!
You guys are a class act! I'm impressed with your response and explanation. Keep up the good work.
Where I'm from farms are 3,000 acres and I see old equipment every where and almost nobody uses a grain cart it's ok to farm with the equipment u have at least you know it's paid for its ok to be a small farm I personally like your equipment on your farm and I enjoy your videos in from North Carolina
Love how you talk we have small farm to and it’s ok we can’t afford a new combine
I live in Alberta and have around 800 acres and We have old equipment, some from the 60s. There’s a guy just a few miles from us and has over 10,000 acres. I totally agree with you
I am late to the show but 2 thoughts on watching this.
1. Godliness with contentment is great gain
2. He who is faithful in little will be faithful in much
God bless you guys and your families.
I wouldn't waste my time with those who feel that putting others down, somehow makes them feel better. I personally love how you, and your family put God & Christ first, family second, and everything else last. May God continue to bless you, & your family!
your right i belive this farmer kevin is not a farmer
Awesome!!😂
great speech. very well said. there are a lot of messed up people out there
The more DEF you have the more DEBT you’ll have 😂😂😂
💯😂😂😂😂😂
@@levifox6604 ABSOULUTELY TRUE
Nothing truer!!
This! That's the whole truth!
we have a 40 year old IH 674 , I USE HER EVERY DAY for feeding cattle and every thing else , its all we have and it does what we need it to .
May god continue to bless you Peterson Farm Brothers! Keep on keepin' on!
I love that combine! That old John Deere equipment is legendary!
Yes it is
More than a quarter of a million people love you. Me included. You must have been due for a hater to come along. Your family and others like yours are a blessing to America.
Your right not worth your time. People are unbelievable. Every farm and farmer is different . You guys are awesome keep it up.
I agree... hes probably 16 years old
Perfect message in your video! Farming is what I do my family is who I am. 200 acres average joe in NY here.
I applaud you for doing what you do. Older Deere's are great machines. You do what you love, God Bless!
Bravo. My brother and my dad farmed entire lives with used equipment. My brothers last combine was a JD 7720. My nephew has and uses tractor my dad bought used in 1946. Farmers - the salt of the earth
Im a person that can't get back into farming and wish I could get back into it I miss it
I wish my grandfather stayed in it
My grandpas parents had to sell the farm shorty after the dirty thirty’s, it was only around 200 acres here in central ks but it had some fishing ponds and a great place for parties, that’s all I want it to.
We run 4 8820 turbos and we love them. I’ve spent time in s670s and they are great but for us we love em family farms are the backbone of this country
The JD 20 series Titan II combines are classics. Since it’s paid off, the grain goes into your pocket instead of to the bank.
We have 100 Acers, and poultry with one slaughter in Sweden. my dad have Been too every event when I grow up. Only used equipment! You are so good
Well said young man. Your parents obviously did an outstanding job of raising you!
Thank you for standing up for us little guys!
Wow, Kevin's head would probably explode if he saw what "Creagh Farm" uses as a farm truck. Greg, we have a saying here - The more superior a man acts the smaller his....(sensored). If you're happy in life that's all that matters.
"Oh, what cute old equipment" is much better in reference to farm implements than it is in reference to an arrogant man's, um, equipment. 😁
Keep up the good work
Also I’m from ohio so we are a big farm around here lmao
Redrustyhill dang for real. That’s kinda insane to think about though
All farmers are needed. We farm in eastern Washington, we have a small farm and old paid for equipment. May God bless you.!
I’m sorry that u had to deal with these people who disrespect u and I wish the greatest for u and ur farm
A large majority of my equipment is older than I am. Keep doing what you do.
Well said, we all know a few Kevin’s..... at the end of the day their farming is usually compensating for some other issues the have. Weather you far 5 acres or 5000, we all play a part
I respect your farm
I am a 4th generation 70 cow dairy farmer that is thankful for this video!
Very well said. That was such a good response that I now subscribe to your channel. Keep up the good work.
dont worry about the damn trols, u guys are great farmers and run perfectly normal equipment, keep up the hard work
this happens every walk in life, and it gets old. i work at the Honda factory in Ohio and I have been told by other associates there "look at what I have and what they have". just because my wife and I have a few more, lets call them toys, (boat, camper, and ext.) and they don't. I'm treated differently. everything my wife and I have is very used and we are very proud of what we have. everyone else has brand new cars and trucks parked in the lot and here we are with our 94' F350 and 2000 Tahoe. and we smile as we walk into work everyday.
In my plant the old millwrights drive cars they bought at garage sales and the kids drive new trucks. You know which has the money
Your farm is one of the most realistic farms on TH-cam. Keep up the good work!
I have a saying, “ it’s not the size of farm/herd, it’s how much money you can make.”
Peace.
Right on. These combines are great. Too many farmers these days miss the damn point.
I think Kevin might be a child with farming simulator
Very true well said 🙂👌
One day I would love to meet farmers like you guys you guys are great people wish I had guys like you when I was working on a farm
I'm from Cambridgeshire England, to me your family farm is what farming is all about. We used to farm about 500 acres on our family farm but for various reasons, We had to give it up. Still miss it though. Keep up the good work
