    started laughing when you said Silence is in second and the 9C test is number 1. You are a funny guy. My Italian is bad so I focus so much on understanding I miss the funny, but reading this time I caught the humor. Love it. If I were Magnus and you knew my name I would be on top of the world excited. You should do a collaboration in Norway. Have him come and play on silence with you. We all know you are better, but he is amazing at filming climbing. Love his climbing videos.

    Can't wait to see you try silence, you're definitely capable, and it would be incredible to see someone second it. Also the wide boys (I think) found a different way to do the crack section

      Adam responded to the beta they tried! He s saying that he thought about that beta but that it doesnt work because he d have to use a different beta for the section before the crack and it would make it harder

    • @chazott
      @chazott 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@tanguylaloy8155 true, and also that Pete started at the end of the crux. Still, Stephano could find new beta just like he did on Change and Bibliographie! I'm pretty sure he won't use the Ondra beta...

    • @kleiber1729
      @kleiber1729 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tanguylaloy8155 That's not correct. Adam said it would work with probably the same difficulty for him. But that he'd prefer his beta, and that the new beta - main concern from him - requires soft 'crack' shoes for both feet, which would make the rest of the route harder. He climbed with one soft shoe for the jam and one 'normal' shoe.

    This test is surely good but of course it does not take into account technique. A calisthenic athlete or a gymnast will probably score very high but that doesn't mean they would be good climbers.
    Also strong feet in climbing (the ability to stand in very tiny edges) I think is often underestimated.

    Credo che il test del 9c non sia così preciso nella core stability, 30 secondi di front lever solo uno che si allena per calisthenics riuscirebbe a farli, già 10 secondi son tanto.

    The test doesn't place enough emphasis on finger strength imo. Finger strength is way more important than max pullups or doing a front lever.

    • @decklundy
      @decklundy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The max pullup is not super relevamt I'd agree. But a front lever is definitely super relevant for the real top grades. Most of the hardest routes that the top sport climbers like Stefano climb are very overhanging, the only 9c is a roof.

    • @babsds0
      @babsds0 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@decklundy I agree body tension is very important for hard climbing, it's just that I don't think front levers are a very climbing-specific way of measuring it.
      Adam Ondra climbed was already climbing 9b+ before he could do his first front lever, so I would say there are a lot of muscles involved in performing a front lever which you don't actually need that much for hard roof climbing.

    • @decklundy
      @decklundy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@babsds0 yeh now I get what you mean now. Also it would be cool if they did some repeaters for the endurance Part of the test as well e.g. how long they can keep up with a 7:3 protocol on not too big of an edge. Then at least they would have 2 different finger measurements

    Maybe just 40 points should be 10a+ 39 - 10a 38 - 9c+ 37 - 9c and so on. To my knowledge nobody did max on that test. So we can suppose that it's a benchmark for next generation of climbers. Adam should do that test also. If he gets 36/37 points then it seems like a legit test just with a bad grading.
    Magnus did a 35 (which would be 9b by new system) and to my knowledge it's his best ever redpoint result in career.
    Another thing - it shows only strength levels of yours at the moment. Climbing a root is more that strength. Stefano knows that millions times better than me.
