    I use a fine file to make my snare beads. Love the video.

    Very cool project! I'm in the process of turning two toms into snares....a 70's Ludwig 14x10 and a Sawtooth 13x10 :)

      Awesome! I almost put away the floor tom snare today but decided not after playing it for a couple of minutes. It’s just so much fun.

    Cool video. I'm not a snom guy. But they have thier place. A few head suggestions. Aquariun studio x heads are perfect for that wet thuddy fat sound. Also Evans hydraulic. Same sound ,different build process.

    I planned to buy a reproduction/re-enactment American Revolutionary War marching snare since its a 16x16 and its super loud lol. But hey this is still dope. Nice work!

    Enjoyed the video however snare bed section was glossed over, how were the edges cut??? Link to process?

      I glossed over it because the way I did it was hacky. I recommend removing the bottom head of a snare drum and place a straight edge along the bearing edge near the snare bed. Then measure the depth of the snare bed to apply a similar dept to your floor tom bearing edge. I would use masking tape on the outside of the drum shell to mark the depth and extent (width on the circumference) of the snare bed. Then, use an exacto knife to remove the tape in the area you want the snare bed to be. This establishes a guide for sanding the bearing edge. Ultimately, I would use sander to create the bed and use masking tape as a guide based on measurements from an existing snare bed from another drum. Sorry if this is unclear or hard to follow.

      . @RhythmNotes Thank you, I will give it a try, I did find a youtube link that describes it. th-cam.com/video/Slb1BJHm2TM/w-d-xo.html

    Great video! What length of snare wire did you go with?

    • @RhythmNotes
      @RhythmNotes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s 13” drum so I used the Pearl 13” 20 strand wire (S029N). Drum Factory Direct had I everything I needed.

    I thought of this and then looked it up and saw that someone else had already done it because they thought of it and then looked it up and saw that someone else had already done it.

    I've tried the conversion on a 12x9 Saturn tom. Sounds great! Check out the demo if you want th-cam.com/video/ZI3ayZKj4ik/w-d-xo.html

      With the snare cranked the deep shell gives the sound a nice body. Great job!

    You couldn't play it just once by itself, no audio effects?

    • @RhythmNotes

      Are you trying to sample it?

      @@RhythmNotes No. Considering building my own. You go to all that work to make it, and make a video, and then never really show us how it sounds...

      Send me an email kevin@rhythmnotes.net and I’ll send you a clip with the drum sans EQ, compression ... raw audio. I made the clip, but it didn’t make it into the video and I have no idea why.
