During 2020 when we were all staying at home more than usual, I decided to upgrade my living situation because I knew I was going to be spending a majority of my life in my house. I lived in a huge sky-rise that had a view over the city and I LOVED it! Much like you do, working from home, you're home all the time and you need to LOVE the place you live AND work in. This is your office and your home so you should be able to upgrade to be happy to be home everyday.
Also surrounding yourself with people in luxury communities almost gives you a sense of motivation and aspiration to do more and work harder and I really did achieve a lot more that I could imagine over that year.

Get that apartment! There is NO price for peace, health and safety. You got this! 🥰

  • @indiaalmighty
    @indiaalmighty 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

I recently had a luxury apartment. I got really sick and had to move back home. But it was sooo worth it!
Yes, my expenses almost doubled but it was the first time I didn’t live in the “hood” and boy, did it change my perspective on life and it was so good for my mental health. You have the right idea thinking about your income but if you can pay your rent up for the year then that would be a good idea. Even if your income slowed down, you have time to move or catch up.

I hear it again and again that "money does not buy happiness". Maybe true but it can buy peace of mind.
I lived ion Baltimore, MD and parked my car on the street. It was vandalized about every 6 months. I watched my neighbor's commercial van being burglarized. A horrible life to be looking out the windows all night.
That was 10 years ago. I was able to get my finances in order and buy a nice house in Tucson, AZ. My car is now in the garage.

  • @JackieBudgets

I say Go FOR IT! It’s nothing like your own space & a peace of mind. You have worked hard, reward yourself. Go for it! Before marriage and kids I went through it living with family and ill never wish that on anyone! Pay for that PEACE! 😊

Hey girl! Love your channel ❤ Consider buy a Condo or a house. That way you are not throwing money away on rent. Save for down payment and few months of mortgage payments. Its an investment in your future. When you pay rent ots a straight loss. Hope this helps you with much love💘

I chose to live with family to save as much as I could and get my credit under control. But the past year has been sooooo rough. Living in the same house with a particular relative became so toxic and depressing and I started hating my job. I ended up having a breakdown. I knew then that I had to make a change. So I started manifesting and speaking positive things into existence and I’ve received so many blessings. I saved a lot & my credit score is now over 740. I’m currently in the hiring process for another job in another city and I feel so much better mentally knowing that a change will soon come. I won’t let fear or worry stop me. You got this hun, you deserve it and you’re smart enough to handle anything! Good luck! 💖💖💖

I say definitely get a place of your own. As far as luxury, get something that financially will ensure you that you won't have to go back to your family house again. If the cost feels like too much it probably is. Keep looking if you have to. Once you leave that space in your family home I know you won't want to go back there.

Hey Jasmine, I hope you see this message. As someone who dealt with a lot of family issues growing up, I totally understand needing your own space. I took the chance to move out as soon as I could and now I’m back living with family. Taking that first step is scary, but sometimes it’s necessary.
I’m not aware of your full situation but if living with your family will remain an open option for you, then just remember that you can always come back if living “alone” isn’t for you. At the end of the day, your mental health should always come first. I hope you find peace in your decision. Great video as always, love the transparency 💕🙂

I've delt with depression and other issues my whole life so I think you should move cause it sounds like you know that is what you need. But in my opinion renting is a waste of money so if you can buy! I know luxary is great but you can make your space what you want. Just do what you think is best for you and your health and your niece.

I completely understand that . Living with family was overwhelming for me , and my mental health girl it was stressful . The stress of bills was way diff than stress of living with family but honestly sometimes it’s best to have your own space and since you work from home you deserve that space to unpack at the end of the day. I missed the family and the noise of a full house for a bit but then you work very hard and deserve it . I entirely understood what you mean about being cautious though with taking on a new expense. I’ve now lived alone with my daughter for two years and it’s the best decision specially for the reason of privacy haha

I just have to get out in the sunshine and just fresh air weather it is a walk or just sitting and listening to music. I set a time 3 times every day for my breaks, even when I am at home. I just gives my mind the break I need! You need to put you first put your favorite perfume on just for you!

I was struggling with living with family. It was affecting me mentally. I purchased a home last year at the age of 33. It was built from the ground up. I have never lived alone. It’s was the scariest thing. But I sometimes struggle with just being by myself because I wish I had someone to talk to but it is nice not having people nag about every little thing. I used to get fussed for not clearing the microwave when I lived with family. It was so bad they literally left sticky notes around the house for me to see. I was on the verge of mental breakdowns like every other day. I just had to get out because I couldn’t take it anymore! Being responsible for all costs is scary, I definitely get it! But peace of mind, get your own space!

My therapist and I spoke about that. She told me that it’s impossible for me to heal in the same place I was broken. She told me I would need to learn to find peace outside of chaos. Sometimes we live in a state of drama and chaos for so long that when it’s no longer present life feels boring. We have to relearn how to be happy… let our brains re-wire how to navigate life when there is no drama.
Thank you for sharing that encouraging message. Try adding in more people that love you… that you wouldn’t mind inviting into your space.
I plan to have girls night a few nights a month to help me transition into my new life. I hope that helps

I think moving is a good idea, you do deserve your own space, but maybe somewhere with lower rent? Hopefully somewhere out there is a middle ground of a nice apartment building that might not be as luxurious but will still let you live comfortably and not break your budget so much. Going from no rent to $3k a month is a huge jump and will impact your ability to save + might cause you more stress as you find yourself not able to save for things you want because of your extra money going to rent. I saw another comment mention trying for a place that is like $1500 - $2000 and I think that's a pretty reasonable price!

Your are a sweet and resourceful young woman. I’m new to channel but it seems to me you could pay the rent just with what you save in all your challenges! Your month challenge, 52 week challenge, $5.00 challenge and so on. You have the money. First you must get over your fear of pulling the trigger to make yourself happy rather than others. Talk to your therapist about this. Just me but renting is a waste of money. Nothing to show for the $30,000 you will spend in rent first year. Always buy a condo, townhouse, home, whatever.

Hey girl!! Im in the same boat as you, but I can't afford it on my own. I suggest looking deeper into finding a more affordable place, but if you can't, I say go for it! You deserve it!n

You mentioned wanting to get a new home and have been saving, just need to decide if you want to keep saving for that or move into the apartment. I lived in a luxury apartment until I moved in with my husband it felt like it was a minimum for utilities just to keep them on. I live in the Midwest here’s the monthly: gas: $60, electric: $75, water: $25, valet trash: $20

It sounds like you need a home that's yours. I would spend the next 3 month or so putting the 3,000 rent in an envelope like you are paying the rent now and seeing if it causes you more stress paying that much in rent. In the end you will have at least 9,000 as a cushion in your rent payments envelope in case of emergency. If that amount feels uncomfortable for you then you know to look for an apartment that's less expensive. Have you considered buying a condo.

I live in Illinois, but I drive to Wisconsin for groceries, there is no tax on food in WI so it's cheaper. I can usually buy 2 weeks worth of food for $120. I also get my gas in WI because it's 40 cents cheaper per gallon.

Completely understand the thought process… I relocated alone to a new state looking for peace, better health, and a new adventure. I found exactly that while living in a luxury apartment. Let me just say that adulting is overrated lol. And as much as I don’t like to see my cash flow disappear every month for rent, I justified the expense for this first year. I spend ALOT of time in my apartment so I chose to spend the extra for the luxuries. Now, my first year journey is coming to a close and although it’s been fun and peaceful, I am heading back home with the thought that I tried it, it was okay for a little while, but now I’m done. Lol…. There is nothing wrong with just trying it for a year and see where your next adventure takes you.

Just because you can afford something doesn’t mean you want to afford it!
I would also save money like you are living in the apartment and then see if you still have the budget.
Also, you don’t have to stay in the apartment forever. Try it for a year and then reconsider your situation. You can always move to a less expensive place after a year if it just wasn’t what you thought it would be.

Ok going to throw in my two cents..I would wait until your student loans are paid off to move. That is a huge chunk of money you would be able to throw at your rent and or mortgage.

If you can afford it, that's the big part, having your own space is such a necessary part for your mental health, not saying living with your niece isn't by any means! But, it's almost like a brand new sense of freedom. I'm going through the same thing right now, scary, but it really is so nice having YOUR space, where whatever it is you want to do, it's your choice. Plus, it simply gives you the space to do what you need to do or want to do. Find a nice place, and get yourself a nice comforter set as your first luxury for yourself. Then later, buy a nice set of plates/bowls you like. Luxury doesn't mean it can't be useful, I have my eyes set on a desk that I'm saving to buy when I move and to me, that's my luxury because my desk right now, she's a bit rough ^^ You can do it, 100%!
