Brillant way to respect an artist to shoot intelligent questions that makes him express himself, Beautiful interview , right said after BR one of my fav interviewer
I don't know why people force directors with social responsibility. It's individual choice to choose what to like or not like. One thing I like about Selva's old movie is that he is never afraid to show dark side or ugly part of human. People endorse that or hate that is their problem but not showing that is just killing art.
Cinema is a mass medium of communication. And the audience is not always just adults or those who are capable of treating it as just a means of entertainment. A teenage boy watching his favorite hero mistreating a woman to thumping background music gets the idea that it's something heroic. The anchor has rightly mentioned the word 'glorification'. A bad/evil/dark character can be shown without glorification. Director can choose how he's presenting the character and that's where he has to be aware of the larger impact his presentation in the movies will have on all kinds of audience.
Root and that's the problem with our audience. Our politics to daily product we use is influenced by the cine heroes. I don't know where we borrowed this culture but except in India everywhere movie is celebrated not glorified. We debate ideas of movie/ art we should not learn from them it was never meant for that. I don't know what's the solution but making movies *responsible* never gonna work because morality changes for every generation that's why it should be debatable, it should not be followed.

Incredible opinion of selvaraghavan in this interview: " we should explore different things in life and choose one as a career path and that job when you do for 8 hrs or 9 hrs should make you to forget rest of the things around you"... Only very few find their best suitable career path and selvaraghavan is one among the few..

Socially responsible?!...thats the problem with our anchors...for example take django unchained..tarantino never claimed that it was a film for black people...but it gave us the badass black hero of all time...another one is super deluxe..in this movie tk never voluntarily wanna convey a message..but if u look at shilpa's character u can clearly see shilpa shows the hardships of transgenders...
