I love Mercari because of its simplicity. You don’t need all the crazy details that ebay requires. I think Mercari is great for simple, low-volume sellers. And yes! Buying their shipping labels offers extra protection. My item got damaged during shipping and they handled it PERFECTLY! I kept my money, the buyer got a refund. I didn’t have to go through insurance at all, Mercari took care of everything. 👍

The quality of photos I posted and sold stuff with was atrocious but I did over 10k my first year just selling mostly Stuff from my house. I can’t wait to see what my first full year reselling does.

You don't have to create a new listing for a bundle. Use one of the item listings that they want and modify it for the bundle. Just deactivate the other items until they purchase the bundle. I have done this a few times.

I had to laugh because on poshmark someone rated me 4 stars and said "Some nice tissue and a note would have given you 5 stars. However- acceptable. " The item was a VS nightgown which I placed in a clear bag and then inside a cute poly mailer... wasn't good enough for the posher lol... however I have never once gotten that type of feedback on Mercari. Mercari customers love a cute printed mailer (many have left comments about loving them and don't need tissue paper or a note lol)
I do the same thing like you. I only have clear bags and cute poly mailers. I am even thinking of just using the regular usps free envelopes when my poly mailers run out😂to keep the cost down.
I did all that on a Halloween shirt on Mercari with a note and the lady didn't even rate me, even though I rated her. But luckily Mercari rates you anyway when the buyer doesn't! And they only have 3 days to ask for a return! So you get paid after those 3 days. I love those things about Mercari. Not crazy about their shipping fees except under 4oz. Media Mail is not available.
Its funny when people rate that way. It happens also when you sell an item at a great price, even offering a better shipping price and safely packaged, then they say you can improve... common ppl...

Mercari is weird to me. I don’t “like” selling on the platform, but I like that I sell cheaper things there. And listing on there is soooo easy. I don’t like that I don’t really have a “store” there & all my sales are one offs. The platform is just odd to me.

@@beckyparkco I have about 100 items listed. I sent a ton of clothes to Thredup last month & forgot to remove them from Mercari so I’m going to delete my account & start over so I don’t have to put a ton of time into figuring out what I sent 😂 mercari is definitely an afterthought for me.

Hi! I made a video on thredup but deleted it recently b/c the tips I shared no longer apply. They just made some huge policy changes that make it a little harder for resellers to make the same kind of money they were making over there.
Yup! It was SO DRY for me for the majority of my time on the platform. I would make like a sale every two weeks or something. But now, it's almost daily!
A few months ago, I got really frustrated with Mercari. The buyers were problem-children and wanted things for free, basically. I got fed up and deleted the app. I have been doing really well on the platforms I still use. But you mentioned Torrid and VS selling well on there. So, I downloaded it again and listed those items. This was a really good video, Becky! Thank you!

Thanks for the helpful video! Note: I have an email from Mercari from three months ago confirming that all first class postage packages are insured by Mercari. I don’t know if you mentioned it in your video but thought that might be helpful to those sellers putting expensive items in the mail at first class to keep costs down.

Like you I have been selling on Mercari for 2 years and on Posh for a year. Here lately I am selling a lot more on Mercari. I usually have buyer pay shipping and it’s been going better than ever. I use Mercari shipping and they do backlots items. I like that. Great advise here!
I never offer free shipping only because most sales come from offers for less than the selling price. So I'm taking a loss as it is and then to loss more $$ from shipping adds up quick

One thing to add to the minimum offer price: It's nice that that exists but most of the time, people just message me if they're trying to offer me less than whatever the Mercari minimum is - which is annoying because it's usually just a message like "$15?" (idk why that irritates me so much, why can't people bother to write a full question?! :D ) The other annoying thing with bundling, or lack thereof, is that you can't just message a person to offer them a bundle but have to do it through one of their listings unless they message you first. I have some likers that regularly like my items but I have no way of contacting them to offer them a bundle price.
YES. yes to all of this. I have gotten those "$15?" type questions too, but what's even MORE annoying is that sometimes I'll say "yes," and they won't respond. Don't these people have better things to do with their lives?!? But yes - person to person communication is also pretty horrible.

Great video! I mistakingly entered the wrong weight on my listing that just sold on Mercari. I can no longer change the weight because the label was already emailed to me. Can I cancel it and request another Label?
I had someone DM me about this on Instagram. They reached out to Mercari and were told that the transaction had to be canceled and the item re-purchased after the item was re-listed with the correct shipping. So annoying, but that is the official way to go about fixing error.
I'm crosslisting a bunch of OLD OLD inventory on Mercari and some of it is selling. This is stuff I've got to get moved on out. It's nice to get a fresh audience on things. That said - I'm not really liking Mercari yet. I'm listing a lot of book lots that cost $10 to ship Media Mail USPS and they don't have a Media Mail rate so I'm adding shipping cost into sale price and that's hard for buyers to understand just how much shipping is cost me out of pocket. But again this is stuff I'm willing to clearance out so I'm not too too worried about overall net profit.
Mercari also has a $300 insurance policy on their labels, meaning if you ship anything more expensive, you're taking all the risk. Learned it the hard way when I sold a $1200 YSL purse, which ended up getting lost during fedex transition (used fedex label through Mercari), and Mercari only reimbursed me $300, making me a $900 loss:( PS their customer service is not the best either
@@beckyparkco fedex told me because the label was created through Mercari, I need to go to Mercari for help (they have an internal contract). It would be nice if they warn people that sell items over $300 that they have very limited insurance coverage:(
I’m active on Mercari but I can’t tell what is more effective promoting the price which is lowering it or making offers to Liker-People who ♥️ my Listing right now I’m experimenting with both/One day I’ll lower the price the next day I will offer a lower price to those who have liked it however if you lower the price then the offer to the ♥️ Has to be a lot lower as well I’m sure using one of the techniques alone is more effective but I don’t know which oneIf anyone has experience please let it be known thank you so much
Do you price your items differently on each platform because of the difference in seller fees, or do you price the same across all platforms? I’ve been pricing higher on Poshmark to make up for the 20% fees and then lower the price a bit on Mercari since their fees are a bit less and I typically don’t offer free shipping. Just wondering what your take is regarding that? PS- love your videos, they are very informative!
Hi, Amanda! That's a great question! I do change my price sometimes from platform to platform. If I am offering free shipping, I usually add a couple dollars to my mercari and Kidizen listings. I don't go overboard, though, because like you said, their fees are lower. So it all kind of balances out in the end.
That’s what I’ve been wondering about. I sell on EBay, PM, Mercari. Curious about how others approach pricing. I kind of go a little lower than my posh price on the other platforms because of the lower fees. I don’t do free shipping although on eBay I just do a flat 3, 4, or 5 $ shipping charge just to keep it simple, unless it’s a something heavier. I’ve been thinking of just listing the same price across all platforms. And in a different note do you sell on Depop? I just started I figure I’m already cross listing what’s one more and it’s faster than all the others I think. Haven’t had a sale yet.

Offers to likers doesn't do anything for me on Mercari. I love that people can't low ball you. I almost always get a higher price on Mercari for items. But its still only about 10-20% of what I sell on Poshmark. I do free shipping on everything and just avoid posting low cost heavy items on Mercari @cheekythrifter

I have a 100% sell through rate with Fashion Nova over on Mercari. Never sold a piece on Poshmark.

I’m active on Mercari but I can’t tell what is more effective promoting the price which is lowering it or making offers to Liker-People who ♥️ my Listing right now I’m experimenting with both/One day I’ll lower the price the next day I will offer a lower price to those who have liked it however if you lower the price then the offer to the ♥️ Has to be a lot lower as well I’m sure using one of the techniques alone is more effective but I don’t know which oneIf anyone has experience please let it be known thank you so much

I don't think I said! I personally list to Poshmark first then crosslist from there to other platforms.
Out of curiosity have you ever considered trying Depop or Vinted?
I haven't! I haven't heard the best things about Vinted, and I don't feel like I regularly find the type of stuff that is popular on depop.

Do you price your items differently on each platform because of the difference in seller fees, or do you price the same across all platforms? I’ve been pricing higher on Poshmark to make up for the 20% fees and then lower the price a bit on Mercari since their fees are a bit less and I typically don’t offer free shipping. Just wondering what your take is regarding that? PS- love your videos, they are very informative!
Hi, Amanda! That's a great question! I do change my price sometimes from platform to platform. If I am offering free shipping, I usually add a couple dollars to my mercari and Kidizen listings. I don't go overboard, though, because like you said, their fees are lower. So it all kind of balances out in the end.
That’s what I’ve been wondering about. I sell on EBay, PM, Mercari. Curious about how others approach pricing. I kind of go a little lower than my posh price on the other platforms because of the lower fees. I don’t do free shipping although on eBay I just do a flat 3, 4, or 5 $ shipping charge just to keep it simple, unless it’s a something heavier. I’ve been thinking of just listing the same price across all platforms. And in a different note do you sell on Depop? I just started I figure I’m already cross listing what’s one more and it’s faster than all the others I think. Haven’t had a sale yet.

Offers to likers doesn't do anything for me on Mercari. I love that people can't low ball you. I almost always get a higher price on Mercari for items. But its still only about 10-20% of what I sell on Poshmark. I do free shipping on everything and just avoid posting low cost heavy items on Mercari @cheekythrifter
