  • During our visit to South Africa, we took a break from safaris to explore the stunning nature of the Panorama Route! We explored the Blyde River Canyon region by car, which added the fun adventure of the day.
Our first stop of the day was Graskop Gorge, which features a stunning waterfall. For adventure seekers, there are the options of ziplining and swinging to the bottom of the gorge. If you want to skip the thrill seeking options, there is an elevator to the bottom of the gorge. We decided to skip the elevator to the bottom because we had many more sights left to visit.
Our next stop was Pinnacle Rock, a forested area with a large rock still standing in the middle. It was a great way to see more of the area and gorgeous views along the way! Also make sure to have some small bills with you along the way-many of the locations along the way charge small fees for parking and park entrances.
For our next stop along the route, we did a quick hike through a rainforest to God’s Window. Another stunning sight along the way! The day started to get hotter, so make sure you dress in layers as the day often starts out cold but can get warmer along the way!
We had some of most unique sights ahead of us-Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the unique water formations made from erosion, and The Three Rondavels-the unique rock formations in the Blyde River Canyon (the world’s third largest canyon) that resemble Rondavels, or local huts. These were such breathtaking sights unlike anything we had seen before!
Our last stop was Lisbon fall, one of the many waterfalls along the Panorama Route. While there are many waterfalls along the way, this one is said to be one of the more stunning ones. It did not disappoint! We know there are many sights we had to miss along the way, so let us know if we missed anything for a future adventure!

You missed so much I was in the military at the potholes. We walked that area flat there are many waterfalls you only see if you follow the river by foot, should hike. Those rivers were full of fish before.
