Absolutely adore that the series has come this far in English. I think my favourite S-Craft deliveries (in no order) are Johnny Yong Bosch’s Joshua, Ben Pronsky’s Agate, Sean Chiplock’s Rean, Rena Strober’s Emma, Joe Zieja’s Kurt, Rachel Kimsey’s Claire, Carrie Keranen’s Sara, DC Douglas’ Rufus, and Michael Sinterniklaas’ Cedric. By the way awesome S Craft and Update Voice from Sky to Cold Steel.
Interesting how they have Arios' S-Craft as being "Second Slash - Raging Tempest:, as if to show that just like how Rean uses Void for his attacks, Arios specialises mostly in "Gale" (Which is pretty obvious, since they don't call him the "Divine Blade of Wind" for nothing
I rarely used EN voices for JRPG games and mostly used the JP ones, and Trails games are no different But honestly, the EN voices have gone a long way since Cold Steel 1, and it sounds even better since Cold Steel 3 till now
You mean “she got better”. This is her last game as Laura after all lol. And I agree, I think she’s had a lot more experience since Cold Steel 4 (she’s done roles like Cocolia in Honkai for example), and is now giving her own distinct, but more fitting voice as Laura. Rather than just copying Marisha Ray’s voice. It’s still different, but it doesn’t feel as bad anymore and the voice can stand on its own.
Interesting, I’d say it almost sounds like they tried to go for a more grounded voice style as opposed to normal over the top JRPG style. I’m curious to see if it will fit with Reverie’s story
Nah I think they just wanted to make them all sound different to previous game’s versions. When you’re yelling the same super move for so many games straight, you have to come up with ways to make them sound good but still unique in their own way. I love that the writing and translation for the moves is really on point here, and that we’ve got amazing references to older games littered throughout as well (My sword and soul are as one! from Kurt being a straight reference to Muller Vander’s S-Craft in Sky 2nd and 3rd) I think I’ll always have my favourite versions of their S-Craft yells (some even from CS1&2 like McBurns), but they all sound super on point here as well, amazing effort by the whole cast.
@@TheCoolguymanlyes I noticed that about Kurt’s too. I think they could try to make them sound different by having a different direction tho like making it more grounded, different doesn’t have to mean it didn’t have a clear direction. Yes, it's a lot more muted in this game. Though this is largely a result of them following the voice direction of the Japanese version which does the same thing.

I think honestly this time around along with what others are saying the voice direction is aiming to be a little more grounded than typical yelling and echoey voices.
@acebreaker7 It might be partially related to Kuro, but apparently her CS4 VA (who was the same as her Sky one) has difficulty doing some lines as she was older now. I believe she was 59/60 at the time, so I can understand them going for someone younger who could more easily do it for Reverie and Kuro moving forward.
Those are some of their old S-Crafts. I prefer Divine Crusade over Celestial Rain, and they removed Lloyd's Meteor Breaker from Trails to Azure. Also, Tiger Charge is fun.
