    Thank you so much. I already took DHEA but taking it at night has been a game changer for my sleep. I’m even dreaming which I never do, or at least remember. I don’t wake up as much and if I do, I go right back to sleep. I’m so appreciative and happy I listened to this episode

    I'm not against supplementing but to me it seems like you often gain much more from retracting and replacing negative stuff and habits rather than add somethign on top of the old.

      dealing with depression, hair loss low sex drive, foggy brain during peri menopause, i have found supplementation to be an essential tool in my arsenal to maintain my sanity. life changing. to each her own but certainly don’t assume that what you are doing/ experiencing in life is appropriate for all bodies

    Agree with some comments here. Been off and on DHEA 25mg a day. 58 old male 5 days a week in gym. Test blood every 4 to 6 months. DHEA is a hit or miss. Sometimes I feel great and lately sluggish. Just tested last week waiting for results. The best advice is test before then after and frequently. Also keep in mind that this is a hormone that can throw off other hormones. Life extension has their annual blood tests sale going on right now. I would take advantage of it. Also functional doctors can help guide you through this; your regular doctor has no clue. UPDATE: Just received my blood test results. My Testosterone was 532 from 360. My estridiol went up to 28.7 from 27.4. But my DHEA was 73.9! I expected this to be like 200 to 300. My last readings including DHEA back in November 2021 was 298. Bad reading or did fasting 12 hours before test affect the outcome? Well im going to kick up DHEA to 50mg a day see what that does.

      DHEA can convert into other hormones. That's why it was low and your other hormones higher.

      DHEA is broken down to testosterone. Your body’s doing a more efficient job breaking it down.

    Thanks for this. I just started taking DHEA after researching and this is definitely helping me. I have a history of chronic stress, chronic fatigue, and had adrenal fatigue a few times in my life. Once fairly severe. The one thing, I would never take it at night because it gives me energy, if I took it at night I'd never sleep. I do notice that it has stopped my waking up at 4:00 a.m. and it also has stopped my 4:00 p.m. slumps, which are classic chronic fatigue adrenal insufficiency symptoms. I've also read it's better to take it topically because in that form it can cross the blood-brain barrier.

    Been there and it was so severe my hair looked fried, I had no energy physically, but mind was active. Started on DHEA, 50mg/day, and that reversed it for years, but had to stop because I felt I needed to get back my normal production. C19 caused more hair loss so working on that. Divorce helped.

    Just got my blood results back after being in keto for about 5 months straight. My dhea-sulfate was 630 lol. Very high end of normal. Can't tell if it's bad because I've never tested it before but I feel great. I've read as long as your estradiol (e2), dht, etc. is normal then you're good since dhea can be converted into all that.

    Years ago it was found that my Test was low. I was put on Androgel. My Dr swore that it would fix my levels and refused to double check to make sure. When it looked like he was going to lose his license I switched doctors. The new one tested my levels and found no improvement so he switched me to an injectable. At best, my levels were low normal. Ended up eventually going to a fertility doctor and they put me on Clomiphene. That seemed to help some. In October I went keto and incorporated IF. I had my levels tested in March and my levels were high. The lesson I learned is that diet can have a much larger impact than pharmaceuticals can.

    • @finagill
      @finagill ปีที่แล้ว

      @Aaron Merrill I'm not convinced that losing weight impacted my testosterone levels. The reason I say this is that I had mild success in losing weight before and after a 20 lb weight loss, my test levels went down. I agree that body fat itself can mess with hormones but my experience is that diet is much more important. My diet may have been low fat at that point which could have also tanked my levels. Either way, the choice to go keto and do IF resulted in increased test as well as improving a lot of other issues.

    I think I am doing pretty good... I am already past menopause and generally I have a lot of energy. My calves are 12.5 inches around and oddly enough so is my neck! Coincidence?? No idea. But I do have a small body frame & wear XS clothes. I do a lot of walking & carry my groceries home from the store for several miles (which is mostly grass fed meat). I do wake up a few times during the night but I believe that is common for someone who has autism + EDS. Oh and I ride horses, do yoga, mudras and meditate too. No problem walking a half marathon on a regular basis. I like doing the farmer's walk too. But due to the connective tissue disorder I cannot lift much but I do have small arm muscles from the farmer's walk.

    Interesting on the adding berberine to DHEA supplementation if insulin resistant. I was hesitant before at taking DHEA because of this as well as how it can also fuel estrogen. I was thinking more DIM + DHEA but if berberine is sufficient I already take that (plus exercise, diet and IF)

    Thanks for this stuff, mike, really appreciated. Started taking DHEA about a month ago (left comments under another Video of yours how to get the stuff in Europe) and so far its very promising, i feel pretty good, substantially increased mood, higher activity levels, increased libido ... and that could very well be the DHEA (or spring, who knows, haha).

      @@BenMJay with DHEA, the explanation is quite simple: drugs need approval, there must be studies that prove the efficacy, look for side effects, etc. And that hasn't happened with DHEA (yet), there's probably not enough money in it, it's not a patentable super drug that you can sell to people for a lot of money. It's not a patentable super drug that can be sold for a lot of money. It's also not a bad idea that companies are monitored during production, that they are forced to enforce a certain level of quality management, etc.

    I'm a female, nearly 54, and have been dealing with debilitating adrenal fatigue/ chronic fatigue, whatever it is, for 4 years now. I have no quality of life, zero capacity to do anything I.e. a shower completely exhausts me.
    I am well through menopause. My body broke down 6 months after a nervous breakdown and developing c-ptsd.
    My dhea levels have been very low for years and my gp can't get them up. We've tried dhea troches, no improvement. Pregnenolone, which is meant to work with dhea in a different way? No improvement.
    I've avoided specialists till now because I think mainstream think dismisses too much, but I really need to get my health sorted and I need to get my life back, and the various supplements aren't cutting it.
    My understanding is an endocrinologist looks at this area. Is that who you'd recomend for an official diagnoses of what's wrong with me?
    My thoughts are get a diagnosis, and then go and see a functional medicine team and get their help fixing the prob, rather than have a standard doctor just shove drugs at me.

I am glad to hear you say you're getting dreams because I never dream. Usually a sign of getting deeper sleep but if you feel less rested, that doesn't sound good. Maybe taken 12 hours earlier or later, the dreams aren't so tiring.

    Dosing for women in menopause or after menopause question I wasn't clear if you is there if you were advocating 25% of the man's dose or 25% less than the man's dose

      25% LESS than the man's dose. Women peri or post start at 5 mg or 10 mg. Go slow.

      Do you think testosterone is indicated in PMDD? I have PMDD and my estrogen and progesterone are normal but low dhea and testosterone. I feel great just before ovulating and noticed on my dutch test testosterone rises then. Wondering if the PMDD is low testosterone in relation to E and P during that time of the cycle

    Just got my saliva cortisol plus DHEA levels back; paid out of pocket. DHEA is on the low normal side 2.2; ref range 2-23. Morning cortisol 7.8 morning (range: 3.7-9.5; noon: 1.8 (range: 1.2-3.0); 5pm: 0.8 (range: 0.6-1.9); and bedtime: 0.5 (range: 0.4-1.0). I have the most energy during the morning, and fatigue sets in around noon. I used to have insomnia. ACTH was tested a year ago, showing 7 without stimulation. I’m 44.

    What are your thoughts on 7 Keto DHEA? 100 mg BID 63 years old active lifestyle like 20k steps a day abs 30 minutes of HIIT daily with body weight and various weights. I feel great often but I occasionally crash. Hard. I often experience the inverted cortisol response you have described

    • @Highintensityhealth
      @Highintensityhealth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Tim! Not a fan of 7 Keto DHEA...IMO probably best at your age to just hit 100 mg in the evening of a micronized DHEA. My 2 cents.

    I take 30 mg of Prenenolone (the "grandmother of ALL hormones") time release 2 hours before bed 3 days a week on workout days.
    My understanding is it will then convert into the other hormones my body needs with excercose, sleep, healthy nutrishtion, etc.
    I'm slleping better, stress is managed, focus and brain functions have improved, energy and improved sence of wellbeling.
    Please comment...Thanks
