So I completely forgot I ran the Work ZR10’s for a short while as well. And by short while I mean 4 days. Good looking wheel, but didn’t like how they looked on the car. I got the wrong color (gloss black) and was not a fan of the machined lip. Sold them and went back to the rs05rr’s before I went to the Wed’s.
What were the specs of the zr10. Sorry to keep on bothering but i am in the search of wheels for my 2012 wrx but i did the bbk swap from the sti so now i have to be careful w the wheel specs. Thanks before hand
learned that any track spec tire because of how square those tires are 255 is the sweet spot. I'm running 265's now on my Toyo R1R's and had to play with height so the tires wouldn't rub
Going through this vid now that the sti is gone hit a bit different haha, Scoobyfreak86 will definitely go down as the most underrated STI TH-camr ever!!! All the best for the future build!
This is my biggest struggle. My wrx is also lapis blue and i feel like i cant find "the wheel".Nt03's are nice but for the spec im looking it it requires spacers and studs and open ended lugs nuts. Rs05rr's are sick. Just hand decide i guess lmao. Looking at wheels has been taking up like 60% of my days haha
I’m in the middle of what you did, I’ve been through 4 sets of wheels in 2 years, oem wrx wheels, 04 sti bbs, sparco assetto gara, enkei nt03+m, it’s really fun to try new stuff had the NT03s the longest and they’re great
I was trying to get the Volk TE37 SL black edition 3 19x9.5 5x114.3 but it seems its been discontinued, peronally one of the best looking Volk and each one weight about 18 pounds...super light weight.
Looking at running the enkie GTC02 wheels with 264/35R18 tires on my 21’ STI. I’m pretty confident with the brake clearance, but do you think I’ll have any problem if the center bore size is 75mm?
Know you sold the subie but love the channel man. I know everyone generally drops from stock 19” to 18”, but I think I want to stay 19” even when I purchase the next wheels when these Dunlops are through. As Im not considering any aftermarket suspension or anything at this point, I do want a more aggressive look and thinking of running 255 instead of OEM 245. Any insight as to how that might impact handling or anything else? Again, these would go on the stock 2020 wheels until I find another 19” wheel I like. Thanks man!
I've seen plenty of people go up a width size on the stock wheels, so you won't encounter any issues. You'll have a bit more contact patch with the wider tires, so you'll feel a slight gain in performance. Not much, but it'll benefit the handling for sure.
Hate to bring up an old vid and hoping you see this. I have 18x10 wheels with a +35 offset but I have no clue how you were able to achieve -3.5 degrees of camber in the front. Mind telling me what’s done to achieve that? Thanks man
@@Autofreakgarage think they’re compatible with air lift? Should add I maxed out my camber plates from the air lift and have camber bolts, only got -2 degrees
Hi, Can you explain why to choose only 18 inch rims and no 19 inch rims? I want to buy new rims but I don't understand why most people choose 18 inches? Thanks in advance :)
Hey @scoobyfreak86. Have a question. I finally pulled the trigger on a set of ZE40s diamond dark gunmetal (18x10 +35). But unfortunately, the manufacture came back and advised that they are now discontinued. I have not been successful at finding a set. I'd settle on a used pair at this point. You've previously talked about the ZE40s on this channel and you seem to be resourceful when it comes to car parts. Do you perhaps know any shops that have this particular set in stock? no worries if not. Thanks for your time.
I have hundreds of videos on the car with all these wheels if you want to see more on each wheel. I have a dedicated video on each wheel setup as well.
Great video. I love hearing opinions. I want to preface this by saying there is nothing wrong with your face.. but we’re a mostly bunch of guys.. maybe it’s a good idea to show the pictures longer than .3 seconds. That’s what we wanna see. Again. Not that there’s anything wrong with you bruv. Cheers. Ride looks great.
Hey! When you ran the CE28s, what setup did you use for the lack of wheel center caps. I have a set of Rotiform RSEs but I hate the hexagon centercap they have and have been trying to find a solution to replace them. I don't want the bearing / axle nut to rust. So curious on what your open cap setup was! It looked sick.
@@Autofreakgarage Thank you so much! Any link as to where you got the hub rings. I currently have some crappy hubrings on my wheels and don't like that too much
how come stock suspension and wheels and tires a nono? i have a 21 sti and im really fine with the stock ride height, i would like to get a 18 by 9.5 +38 offset rim and 245/35 r18 tire. would that be fine with stock ride height and would it have any poke or sink?
All personal preference but the STI stock wheels and tires are not the best to achieve a more flushed look. Stock suspension is too high and leaves the car with a lot of float. Lowering the car to rid some of the wheel gap and going with a wider tire and wheel setup really helps this car handle works better overall 245 on a 9.5 is pretty stretched but people do it. I would recommend going to a 255 at least.
man i can't help but not recommend the RS05-RR's. i have had mine for a year now, running 255/35r18 tires now, was running 255/40r18 when i first got them. i am always super cautious about avoiding road imperfections that could damage the wheels, but man. they just can't take a hit at all. 18x9.5 +35 were my RS05RR spec & they just kept bending over any little thing. i had to get them fixed 3 times in the last few months and it's honestly so disheartening to continue running them because i feel like these roads will destroy them.
I ran mine for many years with no issues at all. Finish held up extremely well and looked nearly brand new after 20k miles on them. Maybe it was just your batch?
@@Autofreakgarage man i dont even know, but it's been quite a struggle with them. i never ever had wheels that bent as easily as they do. i still have them on & just got them repaired recently, but need to replace one because it's permanently twisted very slightly; so im taking it as a sign to get rid of them. i've been suggested everything from running more sidewall, removing my fender liners for even more sidewall, etc. north jersey roads just want them dead i guess.

Do you think I can run a 18x9.5. +38 with 255/45/18 with stock suspension ?
Should be ok, but a 45 tire is a pretty thick tire. Stock is 40.

More tire size options, less expensive tire cost, lighter, looks better (subjective), etc.

Try envision tuning, system motorsports, or showstoppers
Did you have to roll/pull fenders for the CE28s with the car lowered on the FA500 coils you have? Assuming they're 18x9.5 +38 with 265/35/18 tires.
Rears were already rolled so didn’t have to do anything else other than dial in more camber. They were 18x9.5 +35
Is anyone running 265s on 10.5" rims? It seems the added width would improve steering response. My other car runs 225s on 9" rims.
Love the video Chris! Didn’t you also run Work ZR10’s? How’d you like those?
